First time camping and choose Kelling Heath for its location and for the reviews and it didn't disappoint.
Kelling Heath is a wonderful campsite and we will be returning. We stayed in the Red area in a premium pitch, which was great but would have preferred the blue or yellow areas in future.
We joined the Health and Fitness club and used it every day, good value for money if you make good use of it.
We dinned in the restaurant three times and the food and service was outstanding.
Went for trips out and Sherringham is a great place to visit.

We have just returned from visiting here and would most definitely return! The pitches are nice and large, we were situated on red squirrel as we have a dog and as it was term time for schools we found it nice and quiet but I can imagine that it can get very busy as there is just so much to do. Toilet shower and washing up facilities were very clean and there were plenty of showers and toilets so never had to queue. Dogs are not allowed in the bar area but providing it isn't raining they are welcome on the terrace! Loved chatting to Lara the cockatiel too! And we got our first sighting of a nightjar which you can hear most nights!

We visited Kelling Heath over Jubilee week and it was BUSY, with a capital B!
The site is set in some of the countries best heathland and woodland, which is great for walking and cycling. There is a main entertainment area, with the main reception, Indoor and outdoor pools, gym, well stocked shop, restaurants and The Forge Pub with softplay area.
The pitches come in different sizes and all are serviced with EHU (16amp), and some have water too. They are in 3 different fields, the Yellow dragonfly, the Red squirrel, and the Blue butterfly each having a service area.
First the bad stuff
We were in the yellow dragonfly area, in one of the large pitches, which was surrounded by trees and bushes. The pitch was flat, but the grass was quite worn, and the patch just under our tent was just soil (which during a thunderstorm one night filled up, and it felt like we were all walking on a waterbed next morning).
The services we used were always quite clean, but we had an issue for 3 nights where the water was only tepid at best, and I did notice on the final day that the plumbers were in. Trying to shower 2 children under 5 with cold water was not nice, so I hope its sorted now. Queues were minimal too I only ever needed to wait once for a shower, and only twice to wash up.
The noise level was another issue. There is a quiet policy of 11pm, which I found too late, especially with 2 young children who were normally in bed by 9pm. 3 out of the 7 nights were disturbed by drunkards singing, shouting and talking really loud (the latest of these being at 1. 10am). Our pitch was set back from the main road, but our friends were in a pitch which backed onto the hedged road, and nearly every night they were woken by people leaving the Forge Pub, noisily staggering back to their tents. I never saw any security patrols after 10. 30pm, and would urge Kelling Heath to increase these.
There is a nice large playing field, but this is across the main road, which meant it was impossible for our kids to go play over there without an adult for supervision. This meant that other campers played ball games directly outside our friends tent, and once we saw their windbreak used as a goal, whilst they were out. The speed limit on the road was meant to be 10mph, but we saw fellow campers doing double this on many occasions.
Now the good stuff
The woodland walks are wonderful, with plenty of different routes and things to see and if you youre really lucky you might see a Muntjac.
The pools and play areas are great when the weather is not kind, and I found the restaurants quite reasonable and tasty.
The general area is packed with things to do so although the weather was not that kind to us, there was plenty to do. On dry days I highly recommend a trip to West Runton beach, which is great for beach combing, building sandcastles and rockpool crabbing.
All in all we had a good holiday but its made me believe that a smaller more personal site is more for us.

Just spent a week here, and very mixed reviews. It is easy to see a lot of time and money has been spent on the club house and swimming complex. This I suspect keeps all the people staying in the lodges happy. But I got the distinct impression not a lot of resources have been spent on keeping us caravanners and campers happy.
The pitches were cramped, and we were told exactly how they wanted us to pitch even though we wanted to make a sociable area with our friends next door.
The '3' showers and toilets catered for the whole field (approx 100 vans)meaning long waits at peek times. The site is very large meaning a long walk to the shop each morning, not a complaint as we knew this before we went, but just a word of warning.
On a plus side the walks around the complex were stunning and some organised events impressive.
A years waiting list for this site leaves me perplexed, as I have been to many that are so much better.
The shop was good, (again keeping the lodge owners happy) and the bar nice. The outside swimming pool was most definitely not heated and the inside pool would cost a family of 4 £30. I suspect the lodge owners get for free!
Over all we wont be returning.

Coming to this Beautiful site for 16 years now (1-4 times per year) - well laid out, good facilities and the ambiance of the site is one of quality and nature hand-in-hand.
Every facility is looked after and clean, the site is always improving without losing it's natural feel.
The Forge/Terrace are very nice areas to relax and meet people with the food being very good and with a good choice. Plenty to do for nature lovers and non-nature lovers alike.
Excellent environment for children to work off energy and also respect nature for what it is and understand more of the country. Near good beaches on N Norfolk coast.
Good for families of all ages and couples young and old alike. Everything 'gels' well.
The site wardens do a very good job of looking after the site and campers/tourers ensuring rules are followed but very courteous in advising people and also understanding.
Brilliant holiday park with a 'nice' quality feel about it.

Just spent four nights here over Easter and apart from the weather really enjoyed the site and surrounding area.
Quiet, good walks, near to some lovely coastal scenery and villages, on a steam train line (poppy line) - I would highly recommend this place.
Toilet blocks were quiet and clean and once you learn to navigate the large site everything, inc the village square, are very close.
We had our dog with us which meant we were put in the worst area though still reasonably nice but all other areas are lovely.

Were there feb half term week. If you book online it just allocates first available pitch. I rang up to make our booking having been Oct half term last year and knowing specific pitch I wanted. Reception were very helpful and accomodating.
Even though you pay extra for gym and indoor pool it is a great facility which we used every day and kept 2 children occupied.
Site had only reopened on the Saturday, and don't think the website or reception tell you what facilities are available and when. Wi-Fi didn't work until our last day.
Overall, even though this is a large site, it is in a lovely setting, the facilities are kept immaculately clean, staff are all very helpful and we really like it there.

Just had 4 nights here.
We have up to now allways used Caravan Club sites and decided to have a go at Kelling Heath for a change.
Overall our experience was positive, good facilities, nice size pitches in a lovely part of the country.
Our only real negative point would be that because we caravan with our dog we were placed right up the end of the site where the worst pitches were, that along with no choice as to which pitch we would like to use grated a bit especially as the site was near on empty of tourers.
Would we go back, don't think so as we believe pitch choice is important and we had to pay extra for our dog so why not allow us to pitch up on other more attractive pitches?

Wow - what a wonderful site - Very clean - food delicious and good prices - facilities spotless - we camped and found the pitches were plenty big enough (we have a 12 berth tent).
So impressed we have booked two pitches for next year and are taking the family -
The outdoor pool was clean and warm - we also paid a small charge extra for use of gym steam room sauna and jacuzzi which and indoor pool -
lovely to see someone putting some money back into the business and improving things all the time -

Just returned from a week at Kelling which wasn't long enough to fully explore all it has to offer!
This has to be one of the best sites I have ever been to. So much to do for all ages. Toilets were the cleanest we have had - serviced between 4 & 6 times a day!
Catching the steam train from the site is a real highlight. As was the excellent bat walk.
It isn't cheap for your pitch here, but with so many organised activities you can get your monies worth!
Have booked a weekend return visit already and will return for two weeks next summer!
