We visited this site friday to monday, and stayed in the red squirrel area, went to pitch the tent on friday and with the winds it took off twice but we won in the end. The site was not crowded at all, toilets / showers immaculate. We ate in bars on site and found the food excellent and good value, clubhouse is lovely Plently of walks for our border collie, weather though very hit and miss. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to anybody, we would definitely return again The shop on site catered for all your needs and we thought good value

I was suprised by this site. The facilities were brilliant. We only stayed for one night and so did not use facilities for washing clothes etc, but the toilets, showers etc were immaculate. There was not a lot to do if it rained, but we were lucky. We had a 3 and 5 year old with us, the playground was a bit much for the three year old and was not sign posted. The walks aren't sign posted which is annoying, even though there is a map, it is a bit vague and we walked for ages before we found certain walks. The indoor pool was a bit expensive at £25 for three of us. The shop was well stocked but again, quite expensive. We would definitely return there again.

This was my first camping Holiday in School Holiday time, and I was expecting a very packed overcrowded site, but this site was anything but even though it was full. It was a wonderful site even though it was fully booked, the brochure doesn't do it justice.
Its a 240 Acre site with statics and lodges as you enter, though you couldn't really see them as they are all hidden in the woods. The centre then has all the leisure facilities etc / restaurants / entertainment then the bottom half there an l shape will all the pitches and in the middle is all heathland (with a small area taken for a play area and football pitch) We were in Blue butterfly right next to the toilet block which wasn't a problem ( though initially thought it might be noisy) Some of the pitches are close together but they are large and most pitches had large tents on them ( 6-8 birth types) plus gazebos. The main problem we had was our pitch flooded, as the pitches are well used grass has not had time to grow, and with the weather we've had this year the ground was too saturated to soak up water quickly after heavy downpours. But we only had a bit of water in once. We never had problems with noise at night most people in bed by 11, most people had young children in our area so there was people around from about 7.30 but my toddler still managed to sleep to 9 most mornings.
The toilet block was mostly clean, over the bank holiday it was quite muddy in between cleans but at other times surprisingly clean given the awful weather we had. There was a que for the female showers between 7.30 and 9 am but none for the gents, at other times of day no que, water was hot so best time for small children was after 7pm when the water cooled down.
The onsite shop provided a good stock of a variety of supplies and priced quite reasonably. They also have a good supply of gas canisters should you run out.
The terrace bar food was ok, my husband enjoyed the meals but I found the vegetarian lacked flavorings herbs etc, the children's meals seemed expensive at £5, but they were large, I often had one as a meal for myself plus they come with an ice cream. Many of the meals are available as a takeaway, we ate lots at the terrace var as it rained alot when we were there! We ate at the pizza place once and while the boys enjoyed their food I found my veggie one lacked flavourings.
The onsite laundrette was very busy as it was raining most people were there trying to dry two towels in a machine taking half an hour each, not appreciated when you need to wash clothes to wear. Washing tokens were £3 each and drying £14 but you needed 2 to get clothes dry.
The Acorn club was loved by my son its for 4-12 year olds. He did the Pond dipping and bug hunt with them, they also have many other activities and my son and husband went on a bat walk and bee walk. There are also two good play areas but they are not really suitable for toddlers. (though my toddler didn't seem to mind)
We didn't go to the indoor pool, the outdoor pool has a new system this year, once at full capacity a time limit of 2 hours is set then everyone is asked to leave the pool area then the people queuing can go in, there is a sign up to say when the next pool session will start. Though we never had an issues with this we always managed to get in as it was never at full capacity, the pool was heated and quite nice as long as you moved around.
The reception staff were friendly as were the bike hire people, it cost £26 to hire for the day two adult bikes one child seat and a tag along and we had a lovely mainly traffic free day, cycling to Holt for lunch, then on to Holt countryside park , then Holt station to see the trains before returning to the park.
Other things we did (we have a 5 year old and nearly 2 year old) Weybourne beach the nearest is pebbles but nice for an hour or so, we only went into Sheringham when it rained so didnt see the beach but its got all the local amenities that you need. The Dinosaur park was enjoyed by the boys it cost £25 for two adults one child. The beech at Wells next the sea was nice its quite a nice drive there, but go early we couldn't manage to park in car park I close to beach and next one is a mile away, (though there is a little train that can take you down and back). The park itself has lots to explore woodland and heath land and the stream train runs down one side and will beep if you wave! We went to Norwich one day to hide from the rain and went to inspire science centre which was a little disappointing on first site as we've been to techniquest before and this is a converted church , but the boys had fun there for about 2 hours.
The main problems is there's not much to do in the rain without driving for over an hour, and it gets quite difficult when it rained solidly for a week (and expensive)! The swimming pool in Sheringham was nice but due to the weather you had to que outside for about 30 mins to get in then it was a band system so you had only an hours swim for £13. (2 adults one child)
Overall its definitely a site we'd visit again

We took our 3 children and 2 dogs to kelling heath and loved every minute of it. We were on in the red area right on the edge of the park with heathland all behind us. The pitch was extremely generous and facilities were plentiful and always clean,I believe there were ques for the washing up sinks although I don't know myself that's what I had children for! Although the park was very lively with lots of activities I found the whole park fell silent well before midnight. You do have to pay for use of the indoor pool but if you get lucky with the weather as we did there is a lovely outdoor pool that can be used for free. The terrace bar served lovely food at a reasonable price and the shop sold a good variety of items at reasonable prices. I would definitely go back again soon.

We had a week at kelling heath in the blue field and really enjoyed it. We joined the gym there and used the pool everyday, which was fantastic and meant we didn't have to queue for lukewarm showers at the site. We hired bikes, which were good value and the staff were very helpful. The site is huge and well maintained, it reminded me very much of center parcs. There's loads to do, and it would be great for older children. The pitches are a really good size, the only problem is that there are no walkways between them. This would be fine were it not for the extremely territorial behaviour of some groups of campers, blocking off 3 or 4 pitches with cars and furniture, making it very difficult for others to access the shower blocks. The staff work hard at keeping the showers and toilets clean, but the water was invariably lukewarm, which is disappointing as this is quite an expensive site. Having to hold the taps down to get water is also very irritating and causes unneccessary queues at the washing up points. Overall all though, a very nice site for kids, in a lovely area, and we would go back again.

We stayed here for a few days and must say the facilities were excellent. Plenty of freedom for children with parks, ponds, guided walks and entertainers. Bike hire, shop, gym, take away, launderette and bar all in square. Lovely area with some lovely static homes to buy. We pitched our tent with car alongside electric hook up too, and completely enjoyed. Hot showers were a treat after a busy day. A variety of beaches and places to visit nearby. Would love to visit here again soon .

This was our first visit to Kelling Heath and apart from the traditionally hideous bank holiday weather that spoilt our long weekend all together, we would return there. We pitched up in the blue touring area, pitches were well sized, not 'big' but plenty of space to fit a nine man tent, a gazebo and a car. The pitches were also, level and well grassed. Toilets / showers facilities were ok and generally clean. An all day power cut closed down two of the site blocks until after dark on one of the days. There are loads of things to do on site, but lets not kid around, it's a money making set up and some of the facilities are a touch on the pricey side. You have to pay to use the swimming pool and the bar prices are a little over the top. Cycle hire was very good. The guys there were very helpful and pointed out some scenic tours. Tennis courts are available, but the surfaces are quite uneven. As it was a bank holiday weekend, the site was very busy, but we never got the feeling of being overcrowded. This is beautiful part of the country and is well worth visiting.

Visited this site for the first May bank holiday and we had a great weekend. Stayed on the red site as we have a dog, we found plenty of walks for him the poor thing came back shattered.Myself and my son used the pool, yes it is expensive £23.00 for both of us for 3 days but found it was not so busy so has its plus points. Everybody on site was friendly and definatley plenty to keep you busy. The site was full but had no problems with nosie only problem being that nights were cold and everybody put on heaters it blew the electric for 2 nights running however on returning home have sinced received a letter to apologise and offer a fee night which I will definatley being using. Only went into toilet block once as use our caravans but they seemed very clean. Lots of villages loacally to visit to.

We usually visit quite basic, remote sites. However, as this was our first trip with our babies (18 months & 6 months) & my in laws first camping trip, we thought we would try somewhere with plenty of facilities. Facilities Good to excellent. Showers, toilets, washing up facilities, water and waste points were in each of the touring areas. We only used the ones in the red area, these were cleaned regularly, there were no queues and there was plenty of hot water. I believe each pitch came with electric Shops There was a large, well stocked shop in the `village square` on site, this was open 8am-8pm. Entertainment and dining We did not make use of the facilities but there is an indoor and outdoor pool, gym, spa and sauna (I believe) on site. There is also a bar, restaurant and pizza place, which also serves breakfast and does takeaways. Pitches As we took a dog we were in the red area. As we were late booking there were only 2 or 3 pitches left, so we had to pitch under a tree and there were quite a few pine cones under the tent. However, the pitch was quite large and easily accommodated our Aztec Falcon 8 (which is 7.5m X 5.50m) and our people carrier, we also had room to spare. The electrical hookups was located between us and the pitch behind, so was in easy reach. The pitch was level, well marked and well maintained (except for the pine cones). Dogs There are plenty of places to walk dogs and bins are provided. Most people seemed to have cleaned up after their dogs, there was not lots of poo around. Dogs must be kept on a lead. Excursions We caught the steam train, which stops in the park, to Sherringham. You have to walk down quite a steep slope, we took our children in carriers (18 month old in back carrier & 6 month old in front carrier) I would not recommend using a buggy. Other campers We did not have any problems with any other campers. Overall I would recommend this site, it was clean and had good facilities, it was just a little too busy and `touristy` for us.

The red squirrel camp part of this site is lovely when it is not school holidays, but when it is peak time it is over crowded, the pitch sizes are very small, and it was extremely noisy. The toilets were not that clean, but there was just so many people packed in. We got no peace at all, it was noisy until very late and we were woke by children shouting and dogs barking at 5.30 in the morning. If you like space and peace and quiet I would not recommend this site. My kids sleep in the awning in an annexe, and were so tired through lack of and broken sleep, that we were all glad to get home! On saying all of that we stayed at kelling last year not at peak time and it was a different story, only about 25 tourer on this part of the site, and it was heaven.
