This site is a joy you can either walk, fish or just laze it was the second time we have been to Kelling Heath as our grandaughter loves it. This time we were more than a little disappointed, all the facilities were clean and well looked after. Little shop is very good and has most things you need, evening entertainment in the square is good and never goes on to late. The problem was with other people not keeping their children under control. Our pitch was used as a race track for bikes(adults and children) footballs hitting the car and caravan. I go for the peace and to have a rest, this used to be possible it seems not anymore.

First time at this site and I would recommend to others. Spent a wet/sunny week here and it was fab! lots for the kids to do including playground and children's assault course. Entertainment if you want it in the evening, which the kids loved especially raz the clown. Outdoor pool (free) looked great, however we did not use as we went to the beach - lots to do and see in the area. On site shop very good, however be prepared to pay the high prices. Morrisons only 7 miles down the road in cromer. Overall the site very clean, tidy, including the showers/toilet block, cleaned on a regular basis, warden comes round at night in car or on foot, and most people quiet before midnight. Bbq's allowed, large pitches and probably lots of other good points I have missed. I would definitely go back and would thoroughly recommend it all age groups.

Fantastic site, good sized pitches that are always clean and tidy. Friends of ours have a dog and say that the dog walking area is also very good and clean.Beautiful local walks that are well worth doing. Lovely fishing lake in secluded dell. Good clean facilities, the showers have always been hot whenever we have visited and the staff we have met have always been very friendly. Stayed here several times over last couple of years and never been disappointed. Tried on site pub last year and found prices very reasonable and entertainment enjoyable.

Stayed over the late May bank holiday weekend with 3 other families on consecutive pitches. As two of our friends had dogs, we had to stay in the red area which is the only place dogs are allowed. The pitches however were large and very clean and I must say I never heard a dog barking at night or saw any fouling. The red area is also close to the showers, water, kids adventure play ground and village sq. I'd actually stay here again even though we don't have a dog.
This was only our second time camping as a family (2 kids 10 and 12) and we had a great time. Our friends also had children, 7 in all between us ranging in age from 5 to 12 and they all enjoyed themselves.
Yes, the leisure pass is expensive but there is loads for the kids to be getting on with and the outside pool is free. We hired bikes for the kids - £8 per day which includes a helmet and lock and they took off all over the place. There are cars on site but we never noted any excessive speed and were happy for the kids to go off as a group.
We only used the bar/restaurant one evening when it was too cool to cook outside and although the food was ok it was just that. The bar itself though is very pleasant and like the staff throughout the site the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Outside in the village sq there is nightly entertainment which in good weather is handy as you can take your own drinks for a cheap night!
The showers were very clean and no-one in our party experienced a cold shower even though the site was full for the 4 days we were there.
Used the shop on a daily basis and it's well stocked. Food is reasonably priced but some of the camping equipment is pricey.Only to be used for emergencies I'd say!
We spent a full day just exploring the site and surrounding area including the steam railway which stops on the site.It is remote but surprisingly easy to get around from, Cromer and even the northern edge of the Broads are all withing a short drive away
Overall the site was very clean, we saw security patrols doing the rounds every day and we would definitely go back.

On the whole the site is remote and while we were there quite quiet. Pitches were are a good size and the site was well kept and very clean. Refused to pay for use of the pool as the pitch fees were quite high and felt this should be included. The shop was well stocked.
On the minus side we had quite a hike to the toilets/showers etc and at night there is no lighting which is not good with children and I must admit as we were so far away quite scary.
Also water and waste was few and far between and difficult to find.

We enjoyed our stay here and found the site was on the whole quite good, there is plenty for the kids to do including multiple play areas and bike rides, the shop is well stocked. The woods are nice for walking/cycling and the proximity of the railway is nice. We also discovered the woodland exercise walk which was great fun with the kids.
The showers and washing up areas are relatively modern and clean, we never had to queue for showers or washing up, even over a bank holiday.
We did find the site quite noisy, unfortunately many parents allowed their teenagers to roam unchecked which meant we were disturbed upto 1am in the morning many of the 9 nights we stayed. We also found these groups congregated at the play areas and were using very abusive language and behaving badly in front of much younger children.
Also where we were pitched was at a dead end which was frequently mistaken for an exit so upto 5 times an hour we had cars attempting to turn round on our pitch next to the awning. Maybe a dead-end sign could be erected?

A huge site in the middle of beautiful heathland right in the middle of the varied and wonderful North Norfolk coast. Unfortunately, Kelling Heath left me and my family feeling a little cold, in more ways than one.
It is an expensive site, at £29.50 per night plus £5 per night for a kitchen tent this was the cheapest pitch available in august 2008. On top of that for a family of four to use the indoor pool for a week (essential this year) it was an additional £75! The outdoor pool is nice but because the weather was so up and down it would potentially get packed whenever the sun did shine so a one hour slot is allocated on a first come first served basis, taking any spontaneity out of the fun.
Most of the children's activities came at an additional cost, including pond dipping and rock pooling. They even charge you for a photocopied map of the walks through the park! Now, reasonable additional costs for extras I am well used to and sympathetic to at most sites, but here you really do have the sense of being charged for something at every turn. Ultimately we decllined the priveledge of giving too much more of our hard earned cash to Blue Sky Leisure and used the park as we would use a much simpler site - relaxing by the tent, using it as a base to explore the local area, therefore £34.50 per night seemed a little extravagant.
Added to that the ladies showers were cold - I mean really cold - all week! I, amongst many others notified the office but was told that they couldn't work out what was wrong! Laughably, they also have an unusual rota system for cleaning the shower/loo blocks. Whilst cleaning they put up a sign suggesting you use one of the other two blocks, but when you get to the other blocks they too are being cleaned and you are re-directed back to the original block, which is still being cleaned! Sadly, after said cleaning fiasco the blocks cleanliness still leaves a lot to be desired. All of these gripes I could put up with at many parks but when I'm charged these rates I expect 5 star treatment and if things fail I expect something to be done about it not feeble excuses.
The shop was well stocked with emergency camping supplies but food provisions were thin on the ground (most days not even bacon and eggs! and we were in North Norfolk not the Outer Hebrides). The bars and restaurants were as expected - fairly expensive and quite bland. The entertainment was pretty dire - solo vocalists singing middle of the road karaoke numbers.
I suppose this is making me sound a bit 'anti big campsite' but this is very far from the case, we often stay at holiday park type sites as well as smaller, simpler sites. The things that will always make us return are a)value for money and b)the overall atmosphere (genuinely friendly and welcoming), I'm afraid neither of these things were catered for here. We were left with a real feeling of having been ripped off by a big company with not much smile.
On the plus side, the kids assault courses were large and inventive (and free!) and our pitch was a reasonable size. I think we were lucky as we got the overspill area of the Blue Butterfly section and it didn't seem as 'on top of one another' as the rest of it - the front of the pitch looked out on to open heathland and a low maze for the kids to muck around in, quite lovely.
I don't suppose we will return as there is at least one other big park in North Norfolk which does the facilities and entertainment thing much better and there are many fabulous small sites in Norfolk if you just want a base for exploring.
We still had a good holiday because this is our favourite part of the world.

What a gem, this is by far the best site we have ever been on. The site is massive, and even though it was busy,it did not feel it. The showers and toilets were immaculate. As we have a dog, we were in the red squirrel area which was ideal. There are loads of walks around the site and the steam railway has a stop at the bottom of the site. The shop was well stocked and the best on site shop we have ever seen. We didnt use the pool or gym. The free outside pool was well used by children. There was no noise after 11pm and we regularly saw security people walking through the site after this time. The brochure does not do this site justice, and we will definitely return.

Lovely setting in heath land. Great for walks around forest. Kids love it. Well spaced pitches although it is rather expensive. Clubhouse provides good entertainment & decent meals. Shower block is very clean although showers could be better as you have to keep pressing the button so many times & keep waiting for the hot water. Lots to do in the surrounding are e.G steam railway, Sheringham, Holt.

Visited Kelling Heath for 7 nights from 02nd August 2008 until 09th August 2008 with a party of 4 adults and 2 children. Weather was not good, rained everyday at some point, sometimes torrential which caused some pitches to flood. We stayed in the blue butterfly area. Our pitch was a very good size and accomadated our Wynnster Satelite 6 tent very well, also took our 3m x 3m gazebo (although this was an extra £5 per night), electric hook up very reliable and welcome. Although site was full there was hardly any noise after 11pm. Very friendly fellow campers. Showers were of a very good standard and plentiful, although during our stay the ladies showers were often cold, although the mens were fine. Site caters very well for most ages and the hire bikes were good value. Other people comment that the indoor pool is £25 per week, but this does include full use of the gym, however I do agree it is one of the most expensive gyms I know of. However there is an outdoor pool which is free. Bars were well stocked and the terrace bar served very good food. Evening entertainment was ok, but nothing special. On site shop was well priced but towards the middle of the week stock was low. Thursday is delivery day. It is well worth booking tickets for the North Norfolk Railway at the reception on site as the discount available was extremely generous.
Days out we had were to Wells next the sea, where the kids. And Dads tried there hand at crabbing, well worth the drive. The North Norfolk Railway which enabled us with our rover ticket to travel unlimited between Holt and Sheringham. Which we did a number of times behind steam trains and on a diesel too. The Dads and Boys also visited The Muckleburgh Collection of tanks and by all accounts thoroughly enjoyed there day, and also had a ride on the Gama Goat (Some American Personnel Csrrier)
Just one slight comment to the site owners, the speed limit is 15mph but we regularly saw vehicles exceeding this, because of the number of children on-site either on bikes or on foot it can be quite alarming, and it would not take much for an accident to occur. 15mph is too fast for the roads and environment here. 10mph would be more appropriate and should be enforced. Also a number of cars move about after 2100hours, due to the lack of street lighting here this is also something that perhaps should be looked at.
But apart from that the site is a gem, highly recommended and will definitely visit again in the future.
