April 2005 We have just returned from a visit to Kelling Heath - a group of 4 adults, 4 children (aged between 10 months and 7 years) and a dog!. This was our first expedition in a caravan.
The site had everything we could possibly wish for, the staff were extremely helpful and the warden that we encountered very friendly and knowledgeable.
The site shop is very well stocked, and very reasonably priced - try their woodland burgers! Bar prices are not extortionate either - and the staff are very "child friendly".
We didn't try the indoor pool facility as the cost for a family was fairly "prohibitive" - but it looked good!.
The only downside we found was that we were allocated a pitch in the dog field (before we decided to take our dog - who normally stays with family)and upon getting up one morning, found two piles of dog doings right outside our awning which our 18 month old son promptly "slipped" in - not nice!!!. This in no way can be blamed on the site operators, but the irresponsible "pre daylight" dog walkers who refuse to clean up after their animals - be aware!!.
Apart from the latter, it was a very good stay and we will quite happily return.

July 2004 We started our 1 week stay just before the school holidays and the park was fairly quiet. It was soon full once the schools were out for the so called summer though! This is understandable as the park is great. As you know, the weather has not been that good over this summer but the site has plenty to offer.
There were 3 families in our group all with a toddler aged 2! They all loved spending the early evening in the main square (where the shop, bar and reception is) listening to the live entertainment in the band-stand. Various different kinds of music on different nights - most entertaining. They also enjoyed the kids disco and dancing with the big squirrel!
We took a gazeebo and stuck it between 2 of the tents which really helped to save the holiday as it gave us a dry place to eat without having to crowd inside a tent. I would recommend these to tent campers.
The thing I remember most is when we hired 6 bikes, 3 with child seats, and cycled round the recommended route provided by the on-site hire shop. The kids loved it and even the posh hotel we stopped at for food, unannounced on a Sunday!!!, was happy to find space for us even though we were not exactly dressed for the occasion!
This was a great site, well staffed, plenty to do, near the North Norfolk Railway and above all, it was safe. Staff and security were often seen wandering around, keeping an eye on things, and main car routes did not go past any pitches. This meant we felt happy to let our toddlers play with a certain amount of freedom without the usual worries of traffic and other things.
I would come here again and bring more friends and family. Parents might have to stay in one of their static caravans though. :-)

August 2004 Camped at Kelling Heath end of August 2004 after having read a review earlier in the year that was very favourable. Found the campsite to be incredibly over-crowded - barely any space between tents. The toilet facilities were dirty at all times of the day. On a plus side, there is plenty for children to do and lots of bike trails - just think it would be one to visit out of season and take your chances with the weather!

August 2004 Having never been to this site before, it is vey clean and well layed out. However the pitches on the dog field were very close and amongst caravaners who insist on marking their territory with copious amounts of windbreakers. The facilites are nice, but we in England just cannot match european sites. Plenty for the children to do.

August 2003 If anyone out there still believes that camping is stuck in the Dark Ages, then this is a site which should change their minds. Lovely location, well-managed for wildlife and very clean. I wish I could hire their team of steam-cleaners to come and do my bathroom! No real problem with noise at night, the pools are all excellent and there are miles of walks. I haven't stayed in bad weather, but as there is entertainment in the high season kids should be fine.
Not cheap, but then you tend to get what you pay for..... If you want to come to Norwich (you are MOST welcome - we live there!) get a train in from the north coast and cut the hassle of driving and parking.
Good seal-watching trips available locally too.

12/08/2003 Being new to camping we chose Kelling Heath with all it had to offer, having a 7 year old daughter and very large active dog this would be useful!!
On arriving at a very well set out and attractive site, we were surprised at how quick and easy the booking in was and how helpful and friendly the reception staff were. The welcome pack is a really good idea with lots of information on the site and other attractions and activities in the surrounding areas.
Everywhere was clean and tidy and very well maintained. The pitches were nicely spaced and clearly marked out.
As we only stayed a couple of days we have only seen about half of this site but what we did see was so impressive we will without a doubt be returning again very soon to see the rest, but this time for more than just a couple of days.
We would definitely recommend this campsite to all our friends and to anyone who is thinking of going.

First 1995, last was Sept2002 Kelling Heath has to be one of the best sites I ever been to in thirty years of camping (Yes, yes, I started young!)We have two kids and although we always have a holiday further afield, we do fit in a week or two at Kelling, and maybe the odd weekend if the weather is looking good. The kids love it.
There is a free outdoor pool in a real suntrap of a location behind the bar/restaurant complex. The indoor pool you pay for, and we have never been in there, cheapskates that we are!! The shop is well stocked and not too pricey, there are two adventure playgrounds, 200 acres of heathland to get far away from it all, and in the evenings in Summer, the do guided bat & nightjar walks into the woods.
As far as the pitches are concerned, they are all grass, pretty large, well kept, flat and well drained. We have been there in all weathers (British climate being what it is!)and have never had a waterlogging problem. We have been in our caravan and our dome tent.
The facilities blocks are clean, large enough for the numbers of people using them, and the hot showers are free. There are indoor & outdoor washing up sinks, and ironing rooms etc. There are also disabled facilities if you need them.
In Summer they have entertainment outside in the "Village Green", as well as entertainment for kids, and for the adults in the main bar. There are plenty of video games, fruit machines and pool tables for keeping the kids amused, and access to the games room is through the bar area, so it is safe for kids.
We always take our boules and table tennis stuff with us as well!
Take your bikes for some excellent rides through the heathland and woods, too!
We are returning Easter 2003 so maybe see you there!
Nosher.
