Arrived midday on Friday, reception staff very friendly we were given a map to find our pitch. We were in the red squirrel which appeared to be the dog section. We have a dog but decided not to take her camping as she likes a bark, we shouldn't have worried as there were a few very yappy dogs that weren't stopped or even any attempt to stop them.

Pitch was flat very private but under tress. Only a minute walk to the red toilet block, this was clean to start with but the campers left it in a disgusting state. Only 3 showers but never had to wait and plenty of toilets. No hair dryers but have been told this is the only block that needs to be updated.

Washing up sinks and laundry sinks available, washing up water was only ever luke warm.

Plenty of facilities which we didn't use, we were told they were a tad expensive and take away food not brilliant, but as I say we didn't use them. You had to pay extra for the indoor pool but outdoor pool included in the price

It's a lovely area, large site and quite busy but after 11 ish all was quiet. I think to make use of the facilities for a family it could be expensive.

Stayed here for 2 nights in our family tent using ehu for the first time. We were in the quiet area (blue butterfly). The facilities block a 1 min walk away. Big pitches, well signposted. Nice flat grass lots of trees and pretty. The ground good for pegging. Shower block was clean and functional although the hot water for washing up a bit lukewarm however long I ran it! ate out for tea in the bar/restaurant. Food was nice but service a bit slow. There are activity packs for kids but I asked for one (you could see them) as ds was getting bored. Okay price for food etc, bordering on a bit expensive. Used the free outdoor pool and its freezing! no hot showers there like most pools do nowadays. I agree with other reviewers that for the cost of the pitch the indoor pool should be included. Its extortionate. There was a severe lack of a proper map of the site, so finding the railway halt was awful. Signposts were very few. The place feels very corporate and a bit like centerparcs, only nowhere near as good. Very nice walks etc in the heathland.

2 lovely play areas but so far away from pitches no one could let kids roam, hence they were underused.

A nice site, but could be improved considering the price. I`d rather stay on a simpler much cheaper site and go to splash in sheringham which has a wave machine etc! wouldn`t return for the cost.

This was our first visit to Kelling Heath Holiday Park with our folding camper and it probably won’t be our last. The site was nice and peaceful. We saw Muntjac deer around the site – although if they saw you, they would skip of into the undergrowth! There were lots of rabbits around and loads of birds. A pheasant decided to give us a wakeup call at 6. 30am one day – I nearly jumped out of my skin as it was so close to the side of our unit we could even hear it rustling it wings! The many walks around the site were good. We did the History Trail and will do the others if we visit again. There is a stop/halt for the North Norfolk Railway on the site and it was nice seeing (and hearing) the steam trains go by.

The food was really good, whether it came from Brackens the Takeaway or The Forge & Terrace. Sunday lunch was very good value and really tasty. The Village Shop had everything you could need for your holiday and the prices were good too.

The facilities weren’t very busy as it was early in the season and they were all cleaned regularly. Red block facilities still work on the old push button system which is a bit outdated. The yellow block amenities have recently been re-built. They are lovely – heated throughout, PIR lights and no flushing the toilets as they work automatically! Showers in here were great too. They are on a sensor and will stop every few minutes but they are easier to use than the old push button ones as you can just wave your hand in the general area of the on switch! The sinks also worked by a sensor (which made cleaning your teeth a puzzle!).

Our only gripe was the fact that in the description on the website for the amenity building it says they have hot showers, washing facilities, individual cubicles, toilets and razor points. The individual cubicles didn’t seem to be around. On other sites an individual cubicle has meant a sink in a private cubicle so you can wash etc in private. I even asked at reception where the individual cubicles were only to be met with a puzzled look and told they don’t have anything like that.

All the staff we saw were very helpful and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble.

All in all, it was a most relaxing week and we would recommend to others.

We love this site. It was our third visit. With two dogs we were allocated a pitch in the Red Squirrel area. Being a mid week in March we were well spaced away from the other three dog owning caravans. We couldn’t envisage what it would be like in high season with all the pitches full. We love the site because of the views and walks across the heath to the sea and because of the luxurious indoor pool and sauna. Again, because it was March these facilities were virtually empty. Our biggest gripe is what we consider an excessive charge for taking our two small dogs. I’m sure they must lose a lot of business from dog owners who find other nearby sites much better value for money. North Norfolk is a unique part of the country with miles of sandy beaches, heath land and woodland walks, National Trust estates, and places to eat. The site has its own station on the North Norfolk Railway. Live steam! But not running during our midweek trip in March.

I love this site. It's quiet, expansive and in a great location. The facilities are excellent. The staff are knowledgeable and couldn't be more helpful. It is generally pretty expensive to camp at Kelling Heath, but each year I get a good deal as part of a very large group booking.

My only gripe about the site is the very poor wifi coverage and having to pay for use of it.

Just returned from a trip here and I'm pretty disappointed to be honest as I was really looking forward to it, at £41 a night I was expecting much better. Whilst it's a nice site and has an awful lot going for it I just think it's overpriced.

On arrival our field wasn't numbered so it meant going down a dead end track full of tents, trying to reverse the caravan out of it was interesting!

The pitch was ok but I didn't really feel like I was out in the countryside as it was so packed and we had a premium space!, My main gripe was having to pay extra to use the indoor swimming pool at £11 per adult on a rainy day it would have cost us £22 just to take our toddler swimming, yes you have use of the sauna etc but a toddler isn't allowed in these areas, at other sites when we have paid so much it has been free. There is an outdoor pool but it was packed and the great British weather doesn't always make this a viable option. The food was mediocre and the service very slow, we waited well over forty mins for it's arrival, the second night we tried the takeaway pizza which was vastly overpriced and tasted really naff, the third night it was closed due to lack of staff! The shop was very expensive too although it did have a good toy section and I was pleased to see some local produce.

The squirrels that the site is very keen to promote were kept in a very small enclosure and spent much of the time running backwards and forwards seeming quite distressed to me, when another guest asked about this she was told they were exercising!. Checkout time at 10am is ridiculous when you have a lot to pack up and with the wardens coming round to check you are packing up it seemed very regimented. The wireless was incredibly slow too, after trying for an hour to get online I gave up.

All in all if I hadn't paid so much I would have probably overlooked a lot the above as it really is not a bad site although I did feel a bit like I was stuck in a upmarket butlins in the countryside at times. I won't be going back.

Just returned from our 2nd visit to Kelling Heath. Still very lovely as we remember from last year. But this year we decided to hire bikes for the kids so they could go off on their own and explore. Bike hire was expensive - £12 from 10-5pm for a standard bike, helmet & padlock inc. You had to leave your credit card as a deposit which was a bit strange but that was returned on the return of the bikes. The outdoor pool was cold and v busy - we had about an hour and then either had to queue up again or leave completely. The pool really isn't big enough for the amount of people that stay on the site. The indoor pool was expensive to use - although other facilities were thrown in - it was still pretty hefty for a family of 4! £33 for a family of 4 for a 1 day pass! For the amount we paid for a 6 night stay I think it should have been thrown in - not charged separately.

The shower/toilet block (red) was pretty clean - shame there weren't more showers (3) - I had to queue up every time. One day there was only 1 shower working - which was just a drip - so had to walk for about 6-7 minutes to use the other block - yellow had more facilities - and newer showers - which were bigger and you could control the temperature too. Washing up area was pretty good - shame the hot tap wasn't hotter or slightly faster - just being picky but being honest!

My biggest grudge of the site was the departure time - 10am - we ended up leaving at 11am in the end as we had a lot of rain the night before and had to dry out our shelter and tent - I asked if we could extend our departure time but due to it being high season we weren't allowed.

On our last day we went into the restaurant for spot of lunch to see us through our journey home. The service was incredibly slow - we arrived at 12 noon - and there was only one other family in there before us - the kitchen was incredibly slow - we had to wait 40 minutes for a BLT & fish finger sarnie - although they were very nice once they did arrive - but service was very slow - Id hate to think what they would be like on a busy day!

We will be returning to Kelling Heath again - a little more prepared this time!

We stayed 10 nights and had electricity. The site was probably the best overall campsite we have ever stayed at. However to put it into context the sun did shine for all but one of the days of our holiday so we made great use of the outdoor pool.

The site was well shaded by trees which was great but with trees come pigeons who nest above your tent and make a mess. I know they cant really win on this one. Adjacent the site was a steam railway so the noise of the steam train as it ran past the site was stuff of child hood famous five adventures.

On a more critical note some of the toilet blocks / showers did need modernizing but I have seen much much worse.

The site is located in easy car journey (15min) to Cromer Sheringham and 5 mins from Holt. There are also great walks in the area and you can ride in relatively safety as long as you avoid the main A148 coastal road.

The shop on site was a little expensive for what are everyday items. The restaurant again a little pricey so we did not eat there. We did use there take out cafe which was pretty appalling- rubbery pizza.

We paid just under £40 per night so its a bit pricey, but even with all the negatives it is a fantastic site, quiet, good adventure playing facilities. The kids can cycle in relative safety. We will be going back next year at some point.

 Simply fabulous site!

We booked in at the last minute and hadn't realised just what a gem we'd found. The initial feel was a little like Center Parcs - forest setting with well spaced lodges and statics and a very tastefully designed 'village square'. The staff are friendly, the facilities excellent. We had a pitch with electric and the pitches are huge and very well marked out.

As campers the indoor pool and spa is charged at £11 per adult per day, but the outdoor pool is free. There was live music in the square on the Saturday evening, and in the restaurant area both Friday and Saturday.

Highly recommended site, the problem is moving on elsewhere afterwards - it's hard to find something that compares!

Our second visit to Kelling Heath & the location/surroundings are stunning. As you drive into the park the stresses of everyday life seem to ebb away.

Then you arrive at reception & reality sets in, long queues, fairly unfriendly staff, bikes & kids everywhere, not what you expect when we had paid £43 per night!

Surely we all expect a friendly, warm welcome especially after a 5 hour drive?

We must have been lucky last time as we had been designated a nice, fairly private pitch but as we had our dog his time we were relegated to the red area? & it resembled a car park, no privacy just back to back continuous rows of caravans & motorhomes

Asked to move but no chance

As we spent a great deal of time cycling & walking & the children out playing the pitch location became less of an issue over time

However, the bar food was pretty horrible & not particularly palatable or hot & you do expect better for your money

Entertainment OK but basic & I was shocked to learn of the cost of the leisure centre passes. If the site fees had been cheaper we would have paid/stomached the cost but at £43/night one would have thought use of the pool would have been included

Other gripe was the showers - one block always seemed to be closed & the other nearby facility was incredibly busy

In summary, a stunning location, beautiful surroundings but couldn't help but feel the fees are simply too expensive for what you receive
