This is one of my favourite camping sites that I visit time and time again and love. Went for Friday to Sunday and have come back feeling totally relaxed having just sat outside the tent most of the weekend.
There are always loads of kids so its easy for them all to make friends and as there is nothing for them to do, they play games of footie, ball games, card games etc, there was a swing set up on a tree when we visited which the kids loved. The shop is excellent very well stocked with everything you should need and stuff that you didn't realise you would need, but wouldn't expect to find it in such a little shop. Shop stays up til around 9 each night and is as cheap as a supermarket. The staff in there are the owners and are lovely and friends and a hub of information about the surrounding areas. There are 2 showers which are clean and warm. They don't allow open fires, not even in a fire pit, but allow BBQs as long as they are off of the ground. Dogs must be kept on a lead as all times, although there is plenty of walks around if yours needs to run. There is now a snack bar located by the shop open from around 730am to 9pm, that is brilliant. A cuppa for under a quid and a bacon butty around 1. 70, so not too costly if you cant be bothered cooking. There are loads of duck that are very friendly and a little cheeky, coming into the tent area, and allus love been fed. Inside the shop there is a tv screen which is live from a bird box above the door. There were 7 blue tit chicks in there being fed by its mother all the time, which I found really interesting. Will definitely be coming again in a few weeks.

Positives are that the area we stayed on was close to the river and empty, owners were friendly and because the site was quiet the facilities were clean. Holmfirth is about 30 minutes away and has some great cafes and pubs. Buses pass quite close to the site and run regularly.
On the down side, the site was pretty full of residential caravans - lots of units taking root and lots of residents leaving for work in the morning. It would be fair to say the site resembled a storage facility in places. The 'new' toilet facilities are months away from completion - reports from last year said weeks but I would hazard a guess that they will not be operational before summer 2013.
The showers gave about 2 minutes maximum of water (yes I read and followed the instructions but still couldn't manage a full wash before it cut off)
Overall the set up, location, shop, facilities are very good as is the welcome. Not criticising the nature of the site but it's not for us.

We have just spent a very nice weekend at this site, staff were really helpful, a lovely place to stay and one of the best on site shops I have ever seen.
The shower blocks and toilets are a bit dated, but very clean and well looked after. The location Is also great with easy walking to pubs, shops etc Or a 5 min drive to Holmfirth, a great place for a walk round or a bit of shopping!
We will returning to this site for sure!

We visited this site over the weekend and found Linda the manager to be very helpful, polite and friendly. We stayed in the quiet area and have nothing bad to say, beautiful setting by the river, surrounded by trees.
There is a fully stocked shop that seemed to be consistently open and the prices were no higher than you would pay for in a normal shop which is appreciated. There are currently two camping fields, the first was full hence we ended up in the smaller quieter one. I am actually grateful or this as it suited us more.
The shower, toilet facilities are a bit dated but were clean and functional. This is a large camping, caravan site, there was a lot more people than I anticipated but it was not noisy and did not cause a problem. There was a child's play area that looked clean and tidy. I would visit again and recommend it to others

Family of seven and dog in a tent with my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, two nephews and their dog in their tent, had a fantastic two night stay at this site. The area is beautifully and picture perfect.
Facilities are clean and showers lovely and warm, kids enjoyed feeding the ducks whilst my husband and brother-in-law fished in the lake which in the middle of the campsite (kids can fish as well), we also had fun watching kids playing in the river that runs around the site,
The shop is well stocked for all essentials, overall brilliant site would highly recommend and we will certainly be returning next year

We used this site for 2 nights as a base to visit relatives nearby. The site seems to be centred around an area for caravans (some of them looking quite permanent) with the small shop and toilet/shower/pot wash block) and then an upper and lower camping field.
The site is at the end of a rough track but our satnav took us all the way there. The actual entrance to the main site/reception is a little unclear as it looked like a private area where some building work was taking place and we drove past, then having to do a tight 3 point turn in a muddy track.
The receptionist was polite and helpful and directed us to the upper field. Although this was the summer holiday period, there was only one other tent in this field and the other field was also empty.
During day two, however, 3 other tents arrived which created a better atmosphere.
The relatively small upper field is on a slope, with one water tap and across a very quiet track from the shop/shower block area.
The children's play area is very small, a bit muddy and dated and needed a lick of paint.
Similarly the shower block was dated but clean and usable.
The total nightly cost was only £14 for a large outwell hartford xl tent, car, two adults and two children but this does perhaps reflect the lack of facilities. This was ideal for a short stay as a base for visiting friends/relatives or touring the area, but is a far cry from the 'holiday park' type site.

I'd read a lot of reviews both on this site and elsewhere and was a little nervous about staying here, but was pleasantly surprised.
On arrival we were allowed to choose our spot from the 3 available fields. One was the 'super quiet' couples only field which holds around 5 tents and sat beside the stream, beautiful, but had houses right behind the hedge overlooking the area. We chose against this as we wanted to experience camping in a field rather than feeling as if we were in someone's back yard.
Next up was the lower field, but this was very busy with many tents forming a circle who had all come together to form a huge party, we thought this might be a bit rowdy. So we settled on the upper field. This was a perfect. It's all on a bit of a slope, unless you manage to get pitched up right at the top, but it's right beside the toilet block (through the gap in the hedge and down some very steep steps) and had great views of the forest beyond the park.
The lake (duck pond) was a lovely addition, lots of friendly ducks taunting the visiting (and resident) dogs.
The shop was well stocked and the staff friendly. Though I must admit having read previous reviews I was all geared up for 'sour face' but went in with a huge smile and a compliment of their park and from then on they were lovely.
The shower blocks and toilets were fine, floors were dirty but it was raining and so as quick as it could be mopped muddy feet came traipsing through again.
There are many resident caravans there with their awnings and they certainly could do with a good clean, and the kids play area which was nestled into this area was filthy too, but then again it is in the middle of the woods and so it's not going to be sparkling. Small children need to be supervised here as there is a high wall surrounding it which although one corner is fenced off the other is accessible from the path and I saw small children sitting on the edge of the wall with a 6 foot drop into the play area. This needs to be fenced off too really.
There are new shower blocks being built which will really improve the site, but a good clean up would really work wonders, as this site has the potential to be absolutely beautiful.
All in all this was a great site for one night to test out the new tent and for the £12. 50 we paid. But I think we'll pay a bit more next time and visit a site that is a bit cleaner.

We stayed here for one night with absolute amazing weather. We, 2 adults, 2 children and a dog all had an amazing time here and would have loved to stay longer. We surely will be back.
We had freedom to pick a field and spot ourselves. We picked the top field as it was closer to the toilets.
Owners where great, very helpful - no complaints.
There is a forest next to the campsite and a brilliant lake. Kids loved paddling in the water with their welly boots on!
The facilities where in good working order. Not always as clean but hey what you expect with lots of campers! Ive seen it cleaned twice, in the two days we where there - good enough for me.
Shop looked fine but we didn't need it as we brought all our stuff.
Holmfirth is nearby, in walking distance if your are healthy.
We saw a car got stuck at the top field - bu was pulled out by a tractor might be wise to not park down a slope face down lol
The playarea was very small, it might be nice to have a play area on both fields. Our little boy would have loved to see a trampoline hehe.
The kids haven't been bored for a second so I guess it doesn't really matter what play equipment is available.
All in All a great campsite at quite a reasonable price!

We go to Holmfirth quite a lot to see bands playing at the Picturedrome so decided to stay over at the site instead of travelling in the car and driving back afterwards.
We walked into Holmfirth from the site and it took about 20 mins, some great friendly pubs plus the events on at the Picturedrome. The bus also runs every 30 mins and a taxi is about £4. 00.
We were shown around on arrival and given a choice of plots, we decided to camp by the stream which was great [with ehu]. Plenty of ducks and ducklings.
It was very busy during the day with children playing games etc but at night it was very quite. We only paid £16 for 3 adults and 2 dogs for the night. We will definitely be coming here again.

We booked for 2 nights and decided to go ahead with it despite the bad weather forecasts. We were glad we did and the weather was nowhere near as bad as predicted.
We were told to pitch in the first field, which is on quite a slope. The owner told dh that the top and bottom of the field are flattest. We decided to go at the bottom as (a) there was more space for friends that were joining us the next night and (b) it's closer to the toilets (good idea given our 5yo seems to find it fun to ask for the loo lots when camping!). The only thing lacking was a few more water taps, I think there was only one for the whole field - this was another benefit of pitching at the bottom of the field.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. I cannot fault their customer service. I found the toilet/shower blocks to be clean at all times and there was always plenty of loo roll. We didn't use the showers but they were 30p for 5 minutes. The play park was small and we didn't use it while we were there, mainly due to the weather. The shop was well stocked.
There were lots of ducks, including two over friendly ones that took a liking to our curry on the first night!
The site was handy for driving along to Holmfirth and exploring.
On the day we were leaving, another vehicle got stuck in the field we were in and the owner got the tractor out to tow her out. Luckily we got out ok, but someone mentioned to us that they think it's a shame the owners don't open up the yard next to the house to let campers park there as apparently there's always people getting stuck in the field.
All in all, it was a nice place to stay and not too pricey - think we paid £13 a night for a vango maritsa 500 (though this didn't seem to tally with the prices on the booking forms they had, which suggested we paid less than we should have).
