We've visited several times and we are never disappointed. The toilet and shower facilities are the best out of any camp site we have stayed in - very clean and spacious and well stocked.
Very modern also. My children enjoy the play park and the woods around the camp site. The site silted sre helpful and friendly and they try to accommodate all requests.
The site is safe and secure. Some of the permanent parts look a little dated is the only downside!

Arrived mid afternoon on the B/H Monday. You have to turn off a main road and down a fairly narrow (for us), rough, pot holed single track road.
There's a recycling point on the road side where you turn off the main road, and if there's someone at it, there's another place you're able to turn into next to it. (Google street view maybe to see what I mean).
If you meet an oncoming vehicle on the entrance road, don't panic, there's two places you're able to pass each other.
We were greeted by a really friendly warden / receptionist and shown where to pitch and which EHU box to use.
The area for tourers and M/H's - as there's two, (ours was a kind of square) was gravelled. Ours would hold about 8 caravans or motorhomes, but we couldn't see how many fitted into the other area on the other side of the site.
We were on a pitch that backed onto the huge camping field, separated by a thin line of trees. The camping field looked like about 3/4 full, and they didn't look crammed in either.
Got pitched and settled. After being fed and watered we decided to call it an early night.
Next morning, we went out first thing to explore the area, but on return, we discovered our EHU lead had been unplugged, moved to another box - but NOT switched back on!
Whether it was the wardens that did it, or a fellow camper, who knows?
Both fridges / freezers had defrosted, and we lost the milk and all the BBQ meat brought from home.
Tried to find a warden to query this, but couldn't find anyone. Tried several times too, but never managed to actually speak to someone. Dropped the issue in the end as we didn't want to dwell on it and ruin the holiday over this.
General noise wasn't bad around the site through the day, about average, but come evening, it changed.
You'd expect it to quieten down, but no. The music got louder and the 'party atmosphere' of certain campers / caravans thought was acceptable until around 11. 30pm to continue.
Luckily our boys are 9 so we could keep them up a little later. We're all for people having fun but also respect those around us to do the same too.
The wardens do a sterling job at looking after the place we think. Bins, litter picking, cleaning the toilet blocks etc. But come evening, they seem to disappear, we couldn't see them anywhere on an evening?
There's two toilet blocks. The one on the campers field is quite new, they were warm and had plenty hot water with good pressure. This block has the family bathrooms, but have to be pre booked in advance for a small fee.
The kids play area is also situated next to the new toilet / shower block.
The other block though, is really dated and worn out in our opinion.
The wife tried the showers in the older block, and found them no problem. I tried a shower in the older block, but found it to have really poor water pressure. Bit of an odd one, her showers were fine, and the men's weren't?
Elsan points were only found at the toilet blocks too.
The nearest one for us, was at the older toilet block, and in our opinion, is quite a hike when carrying your toilet cartridge - it's also up a slight hill from our area.
The shop / reception and laundry facilities are part of the older toilet / shower block. The shop's fairly well stocked and not badly priced. We didn't use the laundry facilities, so can't comment on them.
There's a hut on the camping field that opens on the weekends that offers a moderate list of food and refreshments from breakfast time, through to lunches and dinners.
Would we use the site again though?
Sorry, but no. It's a great site, but wasn't our kind of site.
It's too out of the way for us for when we want to visit places. We're people that pitch up, and go out and explore - not sit around drinking all day and night. Which we did see a lot of.
And the rules weren't enforced, the continuous noise on an evening after 10pm every night put a major downer on our stay there.

This site is:
Noisey - BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! untill 2am!
Packed with car's and kids
Limited wash room facilities
No warden most of the time
The road to the site is full of pot holes
The old pot wash was filthy
The new pot wash is too small
Very little security, if any
We won't be going back
The immediate area has a pub and reasonable shop
The wider area is very good, great pubs and resturant

Stayed at this site over the Easter Bank holiday this year, and it was a nice place to relax and enjoy a gentle break. They have an 'ultra quiet' space (which I had to myself) well away from the hustle and bustle of the main site, just on the bank of the river Holme. Facilities were fine, clean and comfortable.
A nice dog walk takes you along the riverbank, plenty of wildlife around. The owners were more than accommodating and made me feel very welcome, and went the extra mile to help me as I wanted a quiet break.
Not easy to find on a bank holiday weekend near Holmefirth. A real bonus was the lady cooking gorgeous Indian food in the courtyard catering wagon. Bacon Butties and fish pie too. On the whole a nice friendly peaceful site nestling in a pretty river valley, reasonably priced and comfortable. Few potholes on the private road in, but these had been filled well enough.
A bonus was being able to get the waders on and the fly rod out and have a little fish on the river. Perfect, all in all.

Just got back home from this gem of a site.
I last visited this site 22 yrs ago. Its changed such a lot in them years, but still has the same charm.
We were pitched on the Chatsworth pitch. A lovely spot over looking the Mill Pond.
The greeting I got when I booked in was so welcoming. We were given a welcome pack, to celebrate their 30th anniversary.
The site is now run by three generations of the same family.
Its a pleasant 30 minute walk into Holmfirth, where there is plenty of pubs, restaurants coffee shops etc, as well as the craft and gift shops.
There are two toilet/shower blocks on site. One brand new and the other looking tired, but is kept clean and serves its purpose. There are two covered washing up areas, with lovely hot water. The two play areas looked substantial. The kids seem to be enjoying them.
We enjoyed it so much, even though it was cold, we've booked to return in May. Keep up the excellent work.

We spent 2 nights on this site, which offers a choice of grass and hard standings. We had a hard standing with EHU, with a fresh water point within 15 meters. The approach to the site is via a long, fairly narrow lane that has a couple of passing places.
The welcome we received was very warm. The site boasts two facilities blocks; the new block is state of the art and very well appointed; the old block is 'tired', although kept very clean. The site also has a well-stocked licensed shop. The site has a small lake and a river runs along the back of the site. We saw heron during our stay.
At the rear of the site there is a pedestrian access to the village of Brockholes which boasts a bus service and a rail station. It also has 2 pubs, the nearest of which 'the Rock' is only opens at 4pm on weekdays, although it boasts a 'hot food' menu. The site is less than a couple of miles outside Holmfirth, so is ideal for 'Last of Summer Wine' fans.

Stunning shower block the finest we have been to
Wonderful. The approach was not the best lane in Yorkshire. The lane was very narrow with passing places.
The dining was not open due to an illness could not be helped.

Just returned from a lovely, chilled weekend at this site. We arrived in our T2 camper and we were shown to our pitch and asked if we were happy where we were located. We were more than happy. A pond in front of us and a lovely, shallow stream flowing behind.
There were 2 shower blocks. I used both blocks as we were situated between the 2. One block is newer and is clean, tidy and has lovely hot water. The other block is a little tired but still clean and tidy. Staff seem to constantly clean the blocks and everyone I spoke to, who works there, seemed very friendly and helpful.
When we arrived, we were given some useful directions to walk into Holmfirth. It's a lovely walk, off road, and whoever wrote the directions was very diligent and they were spot on. We also walked by the river which was nice.
The on site shop is not overpriced and again, staff were very friendly. A breakfast tent was there every morning. We did not use it but was nice to know the option was there. The children's playground was on the main field and looked great. Lots of children playing games which was nice to see.
We were told that originally they were going to put us with the 'resident' plots; I'm glad we weren't as that part of the site looks really ramshackle.
We will definitely return here again and again. Only 45 mins from where we live and I'm so glad we found this site. Highly recommended.

Lovely site, family run, clean and tidy. We love the new toilet block, showers were hot, but you needed to press and hold the button to get it to stay on for any length of time. Had a word with one of the staff doing frequent checks and was assured it would be looked into. No reason not to believe her. Lovely to see and hear the children playing and enjoying their holidays, but was very quiet when they were leaving. Beautiful walks around the area, and not far from Holmfirth. We were pitched right down near the river (only shallow) and the sound of the running water was wonderful to doze off to at night and wake up to in the morning. They have a 'quiet area'. If you set up camp in there, no one else is allowed to enter the area unless invited. So you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity you intended. All in all, a cracking site that we will visit again. Recommended!

We visited the site on a short 2 night stay. It was very enjoyable!
The surroundings are great. There is the small river running through the edge of the site, which is shallow, so safe for children, and gives that lovely relaxing sound. There is a small shop on site with very friendly helpful staff and printouts of local walks (the off road one to Holmfirth however is more than a mile and quite hard going uphill in places. Unless we went wrong!) but not so far by road.
There are two amenability blocks, we were on the field with the new one, so only used that one, and it was extremely clean, with excellent shower units, with plenty of space to get dry and dressed in privacy. There was a slight issue with how long the water stayed on after each press. But we mentioned it to them and they thanked us for telling them, as they and said no one else had mentioned it. And said they would look at lengthening the time.
There was a little food outlet, they set up most both mornings we were there for simple breakfast sandwiches and tea. 8am-10am and someone to do curries and burgers OR pizza in the evenings 6-9pm. I man not sure if they are are there through the week.
A nice little play area with wooden climbing equipment, pot wash area and recycling bins.
All in all a very friendly, clean and pleasant place.
