March 2005 This was the first time we had been out with a caravan so we didn't really know what to expect. Went out for just two nights more to try the van out than anything else. Arriving after dark didn't help but the staff were friendly and very helpful and gave us the option of hardstanding or grass and we chose hardstanding. The space was tight but soon we were in position and settled down for a quiet night which we got :)
Next morning in daylight we realised that we were not in a very good location at all. Although the site was nice, we were in an area that was not what we expected but I think this was because we had asked for hardstanding and were out right at the begining of the year - there certainly are good pitches on the site.
The facilities were excellent with a tap very nearby, a very clean toilet block and a good shop that was well stocked with everything you could possibly want. There was plenty of places to walk the dogs although nowhere close by to let them have a run off the lead.
Overall we had a good experience as this is a well equipped site in a lovely location. It was spoiled by where we ended up on the site but this wouldn't have been an issue if we had arrived in the light. Certainly a site that we will be returning to.

March 2005 We arrived at the site early on Friday evening. It was already dark and we were new to caravanning. Eventually found reception, the lady who met us was extremely helpful and pleasant. As it was our first time out caravanning and we had no awning we opted for a hardstanding pitch. We were guided to our pitch and managed to get the caravan set up (after a few ins and outs). The following morning when we got up we realised just how many people stayed on this site full time. We also felt that maybe we had made a wrong choice in hard standing as we felt a little bit cramped in, some of the grassy pitches looked much more picturesque. The site is well maintained and everyone was friendly. The toilets were very clean and regularly checked. We were a little disappointed that there was nowhere to walk the dogs. On the whole a good site, I'm sure we will go back at some point.

September 2004 After reading the reviews of the site, thought we would give a go. Stayed just for two nights.
Quite a narrow track down to the site but no problems, glad we didn't meet anyone coming the other way!
We booked our pitch before we arrived and asked for a pond side pitch. The pitch was literally 2 feet from the water... Perfect. Although we have an exploring 20mth year old the pondside location wasn't a problem as long as she was supervised.
The Toilet/washing facilities were clean. Showers 30p for five minutes using tokens from the shops.
Staff were friendly and helped us on and off the pitch which was much appreciated and recommended.
The only minus points were the water supply - it came out a very slight greeny colour. Now we were assured that this was because of the minerals in the local area and the water board had tested it and all was ok.. Just a little off putting ...
And a minor irratation on the first night was the electric going off in the middle of the night... leaving us without heating and tele. Had me scrabbling outside checking things then trying to work out the Gas appliances! It was just down to a token meter running out on the pitch.. Although the meter is not used anymore it still needs to be full to operate the electricity. Not a big problem but something to check on arrival ... if low get them to top it up...
The main pull of the site for us was the ducks - they were very tame and extremly greedy. As soon as you get any bread out you have 40 of them quacking at your heels. Our little one was totally enchanted!!..
A beautiful site, especially pond side. and only £10.25/night.
All in all a site heartily recommended.

August 2004 For a short camping break this is a nice site. Beware when the weather has been bad the 'top field' for the tents becomes very muddy. There is a bit of a slope but not too bad, however the steps down to the shop are fairly steepish and a bit of a chore in the night. The shop and staff are excellent and the toilet and showers are clean and warm. Only problem we found on our trip was brown cold water. If you go take plenty of bottled water of there is a co-op in holmefirth down the road. Oh and the pub near the site does excellent food

June 2004 A long bumpy and hilly road to the site but well worth it. We were next to the lake in our caravan and the fishing was excellent. The toilet and shower block was clean and warm and the shop was very handy too. There is also LPG for your vehicle if you are converted. We will go back there again next summer for sure.

August 2004 This has got to be the best campsite we have been to so far. Toilet & shower facilities are immaculate, showers are reasonably priced @ 30p for about 5 mins. The site shop is very well stocked and very reasonably priced & the staff are nice and helpful. Pitch your tent or caravan next to the waters edge and do a bit of fishing for carp, bream, roach & perch or pitch your tent / caravan next to the river and do a bit of fishing for trout. Absolutely brilliant, can't fault it at all. Will be going back many times again.

July 2004 Nice and clean site, field sloped but not too badly. On the tent field there were no water points you had to walk down the field and then go down some steep steps to near to the shop. The toilets are down there too so it can be a drag especially with small children. There were no fire points either in the tent field, only on the caravan area, there were buckets of water outside the shop but you'd have to be really fit to carry it up the stairs and to the field. There is a nice walk in the woods and there are ducks on the fishing pond. The toilets are really warm and clean, it's 30p for the showers but you get five minutes of hot water. There are free hairdryer / shaver sockets too. Nice for a short break.

July 2003 This site is just really nice and clean. They have a great fishing lake there, a well-stocked shop. The toilet block was lovely and warm with plenty of rooms for showers. The site was £8 per night for a tent which is a bargain!

May 2003 What a lovely site, the best we've been to so far. With the handy shop and beautifully clean toilets and showers and laundrette, we most certainly will be back. Our children loved it,especially pitching at the side of the river!
