I feel a bit mean writing negative things about this site, as the owner is nothing but polite, helpful and friendly, and the facilities of a really good standard. Having said that, having booked to stay at this site for 2 nights, we ended up leaving after just one. Maybe in my old age I am getting more middle class, but this is the only campsite we have stayed at where I have felt slightly uncomfortable about other people there. Basically, what the information about this site doesn't say is that probably three quarters of it is taken up with permanent residents, in caravans crammed close together, some of which look tatty (the caravans, not the people!). In the evening there were groups of teenagers hanging about outside the shower block, and round the pond (or very small lake), making quite a noise. In order to get to the dog walk you have to walk through the residential area, which made me feel a bit uneasy, particularly at night - mysterious tatty vans would suddenly appear and park just outside the back gate, where I had to go through. As far as I could tell there were only maybe half a dozen holidaying caravans and campers, so I just kind of felt out of place. I am probably being over sensitive about this as I live in a very quiet peaceful place, but we have stayed at quite a few campsites and this is the only one where this has been an issue. I say again, I do feel a bit bad writing this as the owners couldn't have been more helpful, the toilets and showers were really clean and so on, but I just feel it had to be said!

I would recommend this site to anyone, the owners are really friendly, it has a little shop that sells essentials at good prices ! + lots of free information on local attractions. The toilet blocks and showers are clean and only 20p for a long hot shower! ( the only disadvantage is that they are down some quite steep steps from the camping field - not good at midnight !) The kids (aged 6 + 9) loved it here cos they can play ball games as tents are pitched around the outside of the field, and trek through the woods.
Nice walk into Holmfirth + a couple of nice local pubs that served good food + welcomed kids.
The main disadvantage is the camping field itself, as it is on quite a steep slope - but hey that's camping ! Enjoy !

Spent the Easter break at this campsite. Owners very welcoming. Shop well stocked. Grounds lovely albeit quite cramped for caravans. Plenty of room for tents. Toilets clean and showers good. Bit of a nuisance having a "keycode" for toilets! Tiny park for children however children loved the woodlands surrounding the site. Would definitely go again.

We were made very welcome as soon as we arrived. We were given a choice of 4 pitches, 2 on grass, 2 on hard standing. The grass pitches weren't really ideal for use with an awning as they had quite a dip and made a large puddle but the owner said this area was being renovated next week. Childs play area is very small. Toilets were fine, showers only take tokens 30p, bought from shop when open so think ahead if you want an early one or late one. The long term caravans sited seemed cramped which they might be happy about but seems to make you feel cramped yourself. Nice part of the world and had a lovely walk into the town. Would revisit if allowed (language must have been blue as our awning took off in a gust of wind!) Lots of ducks which were tame enough to take food from your hand but if your fingers are small (as our 8 month old) they will try and take those too, many tears followed! The Eureka Museum in Halifax was great and took us 5 hours to get around, despite the recommended 3 hours. Overall a nice site which will be better when the access road is resurfaced (done during our stay) and the grass area is renovated.

We found this site to be excellent. The toilet and shower facilities were very and always clean. The campsite itself is very well kept and it has a well stocked shop with very reasonably priced goods. The owners are more than helpful and very friendly. We were parked up by the pond, perfect spot, surrounded by the local ducks (bring some bread). Sat on the bench feeding the ducks and watching the fishermen while having a relaxing drink. Ideal location to visit Holmfirth and other places near by. We would definetly go back. Big thankyou to Hazel and Phil (the owners). Excellent campsite.!

This was our second visit to this site. As usual the owners were very welcoming and helpful. Our caravan was backing onto the stream which was pleasant. We did make the mistake of going while the children were still on holiday, usually try to go in term time. We arent old (youngest 16) but now we are able to go away on our own we prefere peace and quiet.
The area is beautifull the people of Holmfirth are really friendly the fish and chips are gorgeous.Lots to see and do-go down a real coalmine, Castle on the hill. Lovely country walks. Caverns to visit and go down. Our visit was spoilt by people the site itself was lovely even has a fishing lake

Came here for 1 night as a last minute getaway. Cost was £10 which I thought was very reasonable. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the toilets and showers were kept very clean (lady in there mopping floor and cleaning even at 10pm!)
Only downside to toilets/showers was the keycode that was needed to be entered to open the door. Can't understand the need for that as the only people likely to be using the toilets and showers are people staying on site!
Site has 2 fields for tents, the regular field and the rally field. On the day that we went they were quite busy and gave us the choice of field to use. The regular field looks to be on a slope whereas the rally field is very flat so we chose that one.
Quite a walk to the shop & toilets from there but a better place to pitch a tent in my opinion.
The site is well looked after but is let down by some of the caravans that are there. Many of them seem to be permanent fixtures and could do with a good clean! Other than that this is a great little site and well worth a visit.

Staff very helpful, good shop on site and clean showers & toilets, lovely walk along the river but what lets the site down is the unkempt permanent caravans, some had green moss growing on the awnings. Access to the site is steep and narrow and may have resulted in the side of our caravan being scratched by the trees. Very close to Holmfirth and good fishing in the on site pond.

We had read reviews on this site and decided to give it a go. It was our first camping trip ao we wanted to stay close to home (this is only 30 mins away). We asked to be booked onto the flat field but were told it could only be opened a few weekends a year due to planning, there was on overspill field but you had to ensure you were quite due to houses close by. So we were stuck with the slopping field, we found a pitch at the top so it wasnt too bad. The biggest problem was the traffic on the very nearby road! A real shame because everything else was great. The staff are lovely and the shop is well stocked, shower block is a little dated but clean.

Stayed at this site for two nights the 29th and 30th Saturday and Sunday what a lovely site we were right next to the small fishing lake which was lovely couldn't fault this site for it's amenities the only down side I found was the accessibility the lane is very narrow and steep and quite hard to find blink and you've missed it as I did but well worth it we will definitely use it again the cost was very good too only £12.50 per night for the van ,car and us very handy for visiting Huddersfield as we did we went to the gay pride party on castle hill so it was very handy this is a site you should visit.
