This was my first camping trip with my 2 kids and 2 dogs. The site was really nice and peaceful. We could pitch our tent wherever we wanted, and we chose right beside the stream. My kids loved playing in the stream and going on the swing someone had put up. There was a small childs slide by the shop. The shop was open til 8 and is also the reception. The shop was both friendly and well stocked, selling booze, cigs, cleaning stuff, milk, bread, dog food, papers. The list goes on. The shower block was both clean and efficient. There is a laundry on camp and a pot wash. Lots of ducks to feed. O loved it and will visit again.

This was our first visit to this site, we chose it after reading the reviews and we would firmly recommend it. We used the site as a base for touring the area on motorcycles. We camped in the 'quiet' field which was small but secluded, adjacent to a housing estate hence no children permitted, it is nice and flat which is always handy when parking bikes, we don't think we could have managed in the top field.
Bad point and it's minor - The showers are a bit dated but are kept immaculately clean, a challenge for anyone when it's wet.
Good points - The staff are very friendly and helpful, the shop is small but well stocked and very reasonably priced.
The residents are friendly and always offer a good morning etc.
5-10 minute walk to pub selling good ales and food at fair prices.
A must visit is nearby Holmfirth to have a cuppa in Sid's cafe and go see Nora's, you can picture her on the steps, wrinkled stockings and all.
We will be back next time we visit the area.
Overall - 10 out of 10.

We visited this site on our first ever camping trip with a new tent and our two young children. We arrived to heavy rain and were asked to pitch in the top field. This field is really sloped and if the pitches at the top of the field (where it's flatter) are taken, then you've really had it! We ended up at the bottom of the field and had a really uncomfortable stay. There is another area for tents by the river which is beautifully flat so it would have been much better if we could have pitched there.
The showers and toilets were clean with good water pressure and 5 mins of hot water in the showers using a token purchased for 30p in the shop. The shop was very well stocked.
Lots of ducks and ducklings and the children loved the pond. There's also a nice walk along the river.
Overall, it's a shame the tent was so sloped as that took the edge off our stay. It's not put us off though and I'm sure we'll laugh about it once all the aches and pains have gone!

Site is a little hard to find as it is not very well signposted, it is not in upper denby. The site does need more toilets and showers, as when it is full 2 showers each is far too inadequate. The site has 3 tent sites.
The top field is sloping. The bottom right field is flat. The other is near the river which is also flat. The fishing is not good at the moment as there are loads of tadpoles which is there natural food. To catch take maggots / worms.
The overall site is clean and tidy and would go there again. £10 night including dog and fishing a bargain. Would benefit hook-ups for tents.

First time on this site and what a find, it is one of the most nicest sites we have been to, well kept, friendly staff, the onsite shop is very well stocked. You can fish either on the pond or on the river at the back of the camp. All ehu are on hard standing, there are two fields for tents the top field is on a slight slope the bottom field that we stayed on was more flat. The showers are a little dated but clean and loads of hot water though there are only two showers in the mens never had to wait to use them. We had a walk into holmfirth which is about 1.5 miles from camp but well worth a visit. We picked up a guide from tourist information (free) this told you of location of nora batty's house and sids cafe (Last of teh Summer Wine). All in all we had a great stay and have booked again for august bank holiday (only £10 a night tent / 2 adults) fishing is £1.75 a day for kids. £3.50 adults

The sight was well maintained, staff helpful. We went with a mixed age party, adults, teens and a 2 year old. The 2 year old was able to play around the field without any danger although there is a pond just outside the field, he loved looking at the ducks. The play area isn't much its just a slide but he was happy going there, The onsite shop is adequately stocked, the teens were happy to just sleep. Holmsfirth is approx 1.5 miles away which is walking distant. We had a pleasant stay even though it rained, we took a gazebo which they did not charge to put up, we will go back

This was our first site as completely novice caravanners, and we really enjoyed our weekend. The pitch we had was quite small with lots of tree roots but with some help from the very friendly warden we bumped it on there quite easily. I think we had the smallest pitch which overlooked the lake (which we were concerned about initially with a 2 year old in tow) but it was perfect to see the kids play area so worked out well. The play area is small but enclosed and our little boy spend most of his time playing in the mud and running away from the ducks which were everywhere!
The shop is great and very well stocked, and although the showers were a little dated they were very clean with tons of hot water and good water pressure.
The entrance to the site down the narrow road was a bit scary and I'm glad I didn't meet any other vehicles as there are almost no passing places, and the waiting area on site is very small. Apart from these minor details, this is an excellent site and we will definitely be coming back.

A very nice campsite in a lovely place. A twitchers paradise, I saw kingfishers, woodpeckers and lots more without really looking and there was a very friendly robin came for breakfast every morning. The lady was nice and helpful, a decent shop and the facilities were clean if getting on a bit. The pitches aren't the biggest but with no car or awning I could sit out and and feed the ducks with no probs. If arriving at night you might need to approach about 5 mph on a fast unlit road to see the turning its not very visible, just a small sign at a bus stop. All in all had a great time and Holmefirths a lovely little town about a mile away with plenty of shops and pubs but the women in Sids Cafe cant make a decent cup of tea.

I go with what has been said about the shop being well stocked and the toilets being clean (showers need tokens obtained from the shop 30p for 5 minutes).
There is a pub serving gorgeous food about 10 minutes walk up (dark, take a torch) path, cost reasonable to expensive, not average bar food and superb. Riverside walk into Homfirth (some very muddy bits at this time of year) takes about 45 mins.
The biggest disappointment is the size of pitches, sardines and can come to mind. We do not like being so close to the outfit next door and opposite. The site is in a valley with trees so it felt damp, dark and crowded. If you do not mind this forced sociability the site is OK.

Just spent three nights there and what a lovely site. Place nice and clean, staff couldn't do enough for you. Very helpful when we decided to stay an extra night only to find the snow had come down and the people that live on the site where only to happy with the salt to get us out as we were snowed in. The toilet block very basic but always kept clean and plenty of hot water, and the shop on site must have carried nearly everything you could think of and good prices to. I will definitely be returning again, but remember to phone this time as we only just on very busy site indeed for the end of January.
