Picked this site for first outing with our new tent. Owners very friendly and helpful both in phone whilst booking and once on site.
Offered a choice of pitches and were pleased to get what we thought was the last pitch on the large field next to the river. Pitch was nice and flat and not too difficult to get most of the pegs in.
Little shop on site that was very well stocked and came in handy when we realised we had forgotten to bring a can opener. Some of the permanent vans near the shop are in need of a little TLC but didn't detract from the site and everyone we encountered was friendly.
Toilets and shower block very warm and kept spotlessly clean. Made the most of the unseasonably warm October weather sitting outside watching the wildlife on the river (Bats, squirrels, dippers, etc).
Overall a nice site as long as you get a decent pitch and we will visit again for sure. Once the new arrival area and shower block is built this site will be even better.

Love this site!
Been for last two weekends and will definitely be going again!
Dont let the road from top down put you off, its well worth it when you get to the bottom!
Owners are very friendly and helpful.
Small shop stocks all essentials. Fishing is great in the dam, our 10 year old really enjoyed it. Ducks wondering about the park throughout the day, very friendly, they come in and say hello if door not shut!
Lovely walking up side of river with dog, its very shallow, so ok for kids. The play area is only suitable for toddlers, but big field to play ball games on.
Can't wait until we go back again!

Just had another fab weekend at this brilliant site. So relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Shop and staff very friendly showers well worth 30 pence will definitely be returning here so will the friends we made. A few resident caravans but they don't interfere with the campers.
We walked five minutes out off camp and caught a bus into Huddersfield town centre [nice shops].
Have been told sat nav takes you wrong way so be careful and don't miss the sign on the road leading to campsite.
A bit of building work going on with brand new shower block so should be even better when finished. Cant wait for our return.

Just had a lovely weekend on this peaceful campsite on only our 2nd ever camping trip. We were on the bottom field with an EHU. We were offered the choice to pitch on the field or beside the river.
The toilet block facilities were good apart from having to remember a code to get in (which I finally memorized after the 1st night)
The shop was absolutely fantastic selling almost everything and very well priced, in fact cheaper than a lot of shops!
It took us about 45mins to walk into Holmfirth (with a 3 & 6 year old). Holmfirth is a lovely place to visit.
The owner came around each night asking how things were and addressing us by name (nice Touch) and took the kids with her around the rest of the site, taking it in turns to hold the dog.
Loads of (well fed) ducks around
We will probably make this site our weekend getaway next year due to it only being 20 miles away

Had a great weekend at Holme Valley, a little odd site to say the least, a little rough and ready 'don't expect a 5 star site'having said that all the amenities are OK. Our M/H is 25' long, which is probably the maximum size for pitches here.
Very helpful staff, our electrics were playing up and they sent a man round who was a great help and sorted it for us. Good spot for exploring the area, half hour walk into Holmfirth where there is plenty to see on a Saturday afternoon.
You can go on a guided bus tour of last of the summerwine sites which was very interesting, pick up near main bus terminus.
The Rock pub ia a 10 minute walk from the site where you can get a meal at reasonable prices, good eating places in Holmfirth.
We would probably spend another weekend there later in the year.

We are a familly of 2 adults and 2 boys (a 1 year old and a 7 year old) and an Old English Sheepdog.
We have a large Hi Gear Kalahari 10 with a porch and this was the first problem. The field we were alocated to pitch on was on a slope, and quite a slope at that! Eventually (and with the help of the wardens) we found a flat pitch. We pitched and went to explore.
The facilities are superb, excellent clean shower blocks and toilets, laundry room and washing facilities and finally a very well stocked and fully licensed shop. The surroundings are very tranquil and there's a pleasant pond in the middle of the site which our eldest spent his entire time fishing in with some of the other campers kids.
It was only after the first night when the second field (a much flatter and far more spacious field) was opened. At first we were slightly annoyed that we had been forced to pitch on a slope but it quickly became apparent this was a blessing in disguise as this field became very noisy and very packed very quickly. When you have a small baby like us. Peace and quite to get him to sleep and for us to relax is essential so if, like us, you need a reasonable amount of peace after a certain time, chose the slope, you wont regret it.
All in all an excellent campsite and we had a fantastic holiday, we shall definitely return. Scored 9/10 purely because of sloping pitch!

This was our first camping trip with our two young children (2 and 4 years) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed 2 nights at the weekend in the lower tent field next to the river and it is in a lovely setting surrounded by trees but at the same time didn't feel too enclosed.
The shop and facilities were a short walk away(probably 5 mins with a 2 year old girl dragging her feet)and these were clean and in good condition, although the wife had a problem with the shower token box breaking down.
The children's very small play area just consists of a climbing frame with slide so doesn't keep their attention for long, but our field had plenty of space to play games.
One thing to note is that there is another (upper)tent field which others were on, this has quite a slope to it, so best to enquire about the fields before booking.
Holmfirth is just 5 mins drive down the road which is a lovely town with lots of character and some good shops and a market.
All in all we had a great experience.

Fantastic little site, half hour away from home. Took new tent to try out before holiday with 4, 5 and 16 year old. Had a fab day and night on site.
Owners very friendly, little shop has everything you could need. Shower/toilet block lovely and warm even in the dead of night!
Electric hook up would be useful on a longer stay, but is only available for hardstanding caravan pitches. There are some permanent residents there who are very welcoming and friendly.
There is a small children's play area that could do with some attention cosmetically to draw the kids attention, but other than that a nice, tidy and welcoming site in a lovely area of West Yorks.
We will definitely be back :-)

Delightful little site in extremely picturesque location by the River Colne. In fact, cut through the area of seasonal tourers and out of the back gate and you're right on the banks of an extraordinarily beautiful river valley.
Mainly given over to seasonal visitors. Touring pitches are: a large, square gravel area and a smaller gravel area on the very edge of shop-side of the pond. The ducks are well aware that 'humans' means 'food' and they can be a bit annoying, wandering all over the place.
If you have an awning, take decent pegs. Better still, a 12-volt drill. You've got no chance of getting normal pegs in.
There are two tent fields - upper and lower. As has been mentioned, the upper field slopes quite a lot. The lower field is flat.
Being in a tree-lined valley, it's a very sheltered location and it's a delightful place to have a pleasant stroll.
If there is one thing worth grumbling about, it's the proximity of the Elsan disposal point to the pot-washing area. It's a bit smelly to say the least. Also, the play area is minute and not very interesting. I didn't see anyone using the facilities, designed for very young children, it provides.
The access road is a fairly steep track with occasional passing points. It must be fun when two caravans meet in the middle.
Would definitely return, probably with a tent next time.

This was our first ever camping trip, we chose this site as its only a 30 minute drive from our home town and I'm so glad we did, we are a family of 5 with 3 children aged 2, 6 and 9, and we all loved it!
We pitched on the lower field which was right next to the stream, flat pitch, couldn't have asked for more really, the kids were never bored either playing alongside the water or with other children nearby, the area was clean, not too crowded.
The toilets and shower area were kept clean, the pot wash is covered, the shop is very handy.Had the bonus of nice weather too! Will definitely come back again. We cant wait!
Only thing that I would mention is that the toilets are a little walk away, which can be a little too far when you have young children, but its not too much of a problem
