We stayed at holme valley from Friday till Sunday. We took our football team, 14 kids and parents. We got there at 18:00 in pouring rain, we got all the tents up, we were all wet cold and we did not care. The kids loved it and to be honest the parents did too
We wanted electric hook up they had all gone, not a problem. We were put on a big field close to the shop and toilets and shower, s which were very good
The shop was good had all you needed. The lady that run it was very nice
We took all the kids for a walk in the woods, they loved it, even found a rope swing in the woods
We all had a great weekend there. The only thing I can say bad about this camp is the parking, apart from that we all had a great time

Yes, we concur with previous reviews.
This is a nice, little site.
The only down side is that the pitches can be a bit shoe horned in.
The drive from the main road is long and narrow.
The pond is picturesque, the layout is park like. The ducks quack but not at night.
The shop is comprehensive, especially for booze; and the prices not bad either.
The site is busy and obviously popular.

We have just had a long weekend with friends, Loved the site cannot complain about any facilities, clean shower cubicles/toilets. Play area for children is very small,
The surrounding area is really nice, nice walk to the shops/chippy. The lake is really nice, Shop is very well stocked and provides a good variety at good prices, However does have a sour faced shop assistant, Can be quite snappy and not so friendly at times!
However over all a lovely site which can be highly recommended A+++++ Would go again

Very busy bank holiday weekend, toilets/ showers clean but tired and inadequate for the amount of people on site ( New block under construction). Owners friendly and very helpful, shop well stocked and open until late. Fish and chip van came on site and was very busy.
Play ground very small and only suitable for toddlers. Lots of people fishing on small lake. Loved the ducks and ducklings. The river side walk was lovely, saw Heron, Kingfisher and Grey Squirrel.
A short walk to the Crown pub where we received a warm welcome, nice pint and a very nice meal with a good menu to choose from, children and dogs welcome in the beer garden.
Because we had a disabled person with us we drove to Holmfirth but could not find any where to park our van, however plenty of spaces for cars, and bus stop at top of lane.
2 tent fields 1 on a steep slope one flat, noticed some used electric hook up near hard standing site. We had a reasonably level hard standing for our van with electric hook up. No MV waste point.
Some of the permanent caravans looked a bit tired and need a tidy up. The approach road is very narrow with a couple of passing places so you need to keep your fingers crossed you do not meet any one.
45 mins from home so handy for weekend breaks, will return when new facility block is finished.

Beautiful setting by lake and woods.
Very friendly reception showed us to our pitch with had plenty of room.
Small on site shop.
Good toilets and shower.
Dog walk along river.
Ducks everywhere much to our dogs amusement and resident heron.
On our way to Scotland very pleasant 2 day stop over shall return.
Half hour walk into Holmfirth where Last of the Summer Wine was filmed. Compo buried in the local graveyard !
Very quiet site and very relaxing.
Although you would have to watch children by the lake there was a small playground and suitable overall for children under supervision.

May Bank Holiday weekend, we only live a few miles away and wanted a nice local campsite and we were not disappointed.
Arrived and went to reception we were shown to a riverside spot near the hardstanding area, we were a little worried as we have a 6 berth tunnel tent and canopy but we just fitted into the area allocated.
The showers and toilets were kept well stocked and clean.
We didn't use the laundry facilities.
There are some lovely walks around and anyone who enjoys geocaching can have a field day in the area.
The shop on site stayed open late and had a good range of supplies with good pricing as well (when I needed needle and cotton there it was!)
The staff all seemed very friendly and welcoming.

This is a really pretty campsite next to a river. The campsite shop is very well stocked and you can even get fish and chips from a visiting van every other Saturday.
It's about a half hour walk to Holmfirth with friendly pubs (with a range of ales), restaurants and a supermarket.
There was a good mix of people on the site, some families, some couples, some larger groups but still nice and quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We didn't need electric hook-up so could choose where to park on the grass field, which was quite sheltered and flat and directly next to the river.
Toilets were fine, always well stocked and fairly clean. I suspect they are usually quite clean but I used them at about 9 am. after most people had showered etc, and I think they were just about to be cleaned.
They are a fair walk from the tent field (so don't leave it too late!) but not far from the hard standing pitches. We only stayed overnight so didn't use the laundry or shower as we just live 20 miles away.
Someone warned me that the shower could be cold depending on when you use it. It's 30p for a 5 minute token. The showers looked roomy enough for two or for small families/parents helping children etc.
There is a very small play area for young children (couple of climbing frames/slide) near the shop. There is also a fishing lake with ducks and ducklings.
We will definitely stay here again!

We stayed here last year 3 times it is a great place to come and chill out or just have fun and meet new friends from all over the country. We took our dog there too. There are some great walks down by the river or down to the local pub, where we were able to take our dog out in to the back to the beer garden. It is a great site. The shop is well stocked with things you need and very cheap too. Showers are nice and clean. There is a little fishing pond for the kids to fish at a price, not sure how much it is though. Will be going back very soon

Stunning site with sufficient facilities. We pitched in the family field next to the river and had plenty of space between us and the next family. The river is accessible from the field but is not very deep so the kids can have a paddle to cool off.
The shop is well stocked and allows freezer blocks to be re-frozen. There are 2 showers which are operated by tokens costing 30p each and lasts for 5 minutes. The shower block is a little dated however they were sufficient for the weekend.
There is a park on site which is suitable for small children. We walked into Brockholes where there is a bigger park that was suitable for our 5 and 6 year olds. We couldn't find a pub that served food though.
Didn't see the owners except when we went to the shop so not sure if they check for extra visitors, dogs not tied up etc (we had our tent guy ropes taken up and kitchen area invaded by a dog who had been tied up to the tree behind our tent by visitors to the campers so felt a bit awkward having to go over and ask them to move the dog).
Would go back because of location and for group camping etc but probably not for a small family weekend away.

We stayed here for one night so that we could attend a family celebration in Holmfirth. The campsite had a great deal of potential and when the building work is finished it will be fantastic. We had asked for hardstanding, but the large bay we were directed to was very muddy - it looked as if the HGVs from the construction area up the access road had been using the pitches as a turning area and it was too much for the hardstanding! The access road was long and narrow, it was also very uneven with a sharp turn. The toilet block was scrupulously clean but very dated, and not really big enough - we didn't have to queue but only 2 showers for all the ladies on the campsite is insufficient. You need a 30ptoken from the shop for a shower (the shop never seemed to be open when we were there!)The lake was smashing and we loved the way the ducks march around the site as if they own it. There is a lovely wood adjacent that our dog loved, it would be ideal for building dens in the summer. It is a great shame that my lasting impression of the site is the tatty and run down permanently sited vans (they need to be washed/replaced) and the unrelenting mud. I think we saw the campsite at its worst - we would return but only when the building work is over.
