Spent a pleasant week at Dunstan Hill, our first visit to a CCC site.
Have come to realise that marked out pitches are not for us, but this is not the sites fault. I just didn't like the regimented 'rows of tents' feel. It felt a bit squashed, but it was half term, and full, so this was expected.
Site itself very pleasant and well looked after. Toilets / showers all very good. Walk to beach fantastic. Our three children had a lovely time and made some nice friends.
Only negative thing is that someone went in our tent one day (came home to find it wide open), but we genuinely believe it was just kids. A small cooker case was stood on and broken (was right by the door) but the site bent over backwards and even replaced it for us, which was a nice touch and very much appreciated.
Loads to do in the local area, we're all really into castles so that was the main reason for our visit. Cragside (NT) is a fantastic day out, thoroughly recommended.
Its 7hrs from home so we're unlikely to return soon, but we would go back if we're in the area, just not at school holidays.

A very well located site, let down by the poorest toilet facilities we have come across on a C&CC site.
Dunstan Hill is, as other reviews have said, well located for the fabulous scenery and unspoilt beaches of Northumbria. Our daughter & son in law who were staying on the same site had an iconic surfing session on Embleton beach in the shadow of Dunstanburgh Castle. There are plenty of local walks, Embleton is only ~1 mile away with 3 pubs & an Hotel. We eat in Greys and would have no problems recommending it.
There is plenty of shelter around the edges of the site for vans and for an owl on our first night but, I guess, the centre might be a little exposed.
There are two blocks of toilets and we found them limited in number eg only 4 male & same number of showers, unheated and more than a little past there sell by date. We'd be more than happy to go back for the location though.

We stayed here last May and really enjoyed our stay at this excellent c & c site. The staff were friendly and helpful and the warden showed us to our pitch on his bike. The facilities were excellent and clean, we never had to queue for the shower which were free and very warm. Bus stop for coastal service was opposite site entrance. We visited local beaches which were clean and dog friendly, also Dunstanburgh Castle and Craster were well worth a walk. We recommend Grey's Inn at Embleton for good food and ale, dog friendly too.

Really good site, we stayed over the late May Bank holiday weekend so it was full, but it was very well managed.
Facilities good - two blocks both well maintained, very easy walk to the beach. Embleton walk able with some very nice pubs (would recommend the Grey's inn).
Limited selection in the shop but enough for what was needed. The lady coming round with the newspapers was a handy service.
Great location for all the fantastic attractions of the Northumbria Coast.

We were met with a very good and efficient welcome, shown and directed onto our pitch - we had a choice of hardstanding pitches and requested one with level grass behind to pitch the kids pup tent.
The setting is very good, with some shelter from trees and set in the countryside but only a short distance from the coast. The showers and toilets are very good (typical CC&C standard).
It about a 15 minute walk to the fantastic beach and similar to the village of Embleton, which has a small shop, a post office, a petrol station and 4 pubs.
The coastline around here is fantastic and we visited the beaches at Embleton Bay, Seahouses, Bamburgh and Beadnell Bay, all of which allow dogs on. Its also not too far to visit Holy Island. Would recommend both the site and the area.

Just returned from a fantastic 3 days - site was really good and renewed my love for camping - grassy - flat - good facilities and kids loved it- nice small playground. Shop sells basics to get you buy till next day - even small bags of washing powder for 50p. Good washing blocks - clean - only 3 showers in each block - but never had to wait for more 5 mins and site was full. Loads to do in surrounding area - looking forward to returning next year

An excellent site. Very friendly welcome from the Site Managers who went out of their way to accommodate my disabled daughters needs, by placing us next to the toilet block and providing us with electricity. Our pitch was very well sheltered from the gales which blew for part of our stay.
The facilities were spotless and unlike many sites we have stayed on had the advantage of two toilet blocks. This meant that at least one block was always available. I read a review where a complaint was made about the number of toilets etc. I must say that I never had to queue for a toilet, urinal or wash basin even though the site got completely filled over the Bank-Holiday weekend.
There are so many visitor attractions in the area that you could stay for months and not cover them all. We will certainly visit this site and area again.

Lovely site. The managers are very friendly and helpful. I am a solo camper and was asked if I would like a quiet spot and was given a choice of pitches.
The facilities are very clean although a little heat in the shower block would have been welcome as it turned out to be a chilly weekend!
There is lots to do in the area. I can really recommend the gardens at Howick Hall. The Olive Cafe, which is slightly off the beaten track, do a fantastic range of sandwiches.

We love this campsite! Have stayed several times now. It's very efficiently run, friendly with a great location. The showers and toilets are (usually) spotless and lovely warm showers with plenty of space.
Great for families and children too. Dog friendly too. Everyone is friendly and nothing too much trouble. To top it all the mobile fish n chips van calls on a Friday in the main season! Yum yum.

Just returned from a 7 night stay here and had a great time. The facilities were clean and the staff friendly. We have previously only visited a couple of C&C club sites and found them to be a little regimented but not this one, we felt right at home straight away. My only complaint is that mobile coverage for Vodafone was virtually non existent, O2 was ok though, but that's Vodafone's fault not the site's!
Surrounding countryside fantastic, there are lots of places to walk to directly from the site including access to a very beautiful beach (this is a bit of a trek up a hill and across a field but well worth it) Fantastic for dog walkers, apparently you can take dogs on the bus which will stop at the site but we didn't try this.
We frequently saw plenty of local wildlife, deer, rabbits, geese, ducks and even a shrew.
You must visit Alnmouth Bay as the beach there is so beautiful.
Book readers should visit Barterbooks at Alnmouth, one of the UK's biggest second hand book shops ( they will buy your read books which will help pay for some new reading material!) They have a small carpark suitable for cars, we parked at Lidl just down the road in our motorhome and walked a few metres. We did go in an buy a few bits from Lidl to 'pay' for the parking.
We will definitely return.
