Loved this site, toilets 2 blocks just refurbished so in good condition.
Nice children's play area, well stocked shop.
Wardens very helpful and keep site looking good.
Exit from site onto a road that seems quiet, beware traffic moves very fast past the site, also as with all CCC sites one toilet block may be closed at short notice if site not very busy and it could be a long walk to the other as it is a large site.
Lovely walk to coast path and beach from site and loads of places to visit, recommend Barters bookshop in Alnwick if you like books.
The site gets very busy at weekends with lots of children, very noisy at weekends but very quiet midweek during term times.

Took advantage of a spell of good weather to spend a couple of days here. As it was midweek there was plenty of space and so I got a great spot to pitch. There was only one facility block in use as the other was being upgraded, but it was absolutely fine. The site is in a nice quiet location; perhaps its biggest attraction is the path leaving it - it leads down to the superb beach and the path to Dunstanburgh Castle. Meg the collie had a great time in the water.
The site is well placed for visits to Seahouses (boat trips to the Farne Islands) and Bamburgh Castle. If you don't like to be beside the seaside, Alnwick, its castle and gardens are close by. Great location, friendly and welcoming wardens, fine facilities - thoroughly recommended.

Really lovely campsite. Very tidy and clean. We were pleased to see bins emptied daily. Toilets and shower blocks exceptionally clean even at the weekends. Showers are press button and you can't change the temperature in main blocks, but when showering the children I used the family room. A proper 'baby change' thing in the family room would be useful, somewhere to lay little one (with safety strap) to dry them etc after shower but I realise I'm being a bit picky there.
Lovely walk from site to beech, about a mile, and although there aren't any stiles or gates the first bit through the wood is very 'rooty' so some pushchairs would struggle.
Site wardens are the most helpful we have ever met. Happy to help when you have a problem, local knowledge really useful and so friendly, nothing was ever too much trouble.
Little shop covers basics and the fish and chips from the van that goes once a week are delicious. Little climbing frame and swings appreciated by children and nice that a little way from pitches so didn't worry too much about the noise the children made. Very little phone signal (which actually was lovely).
We didn't go to any of the pubs in the village, but did try the coffee shop on the road to Holy Island, a few miles away, The Barn at Beal, not the cheapest but exceptionally good, local food. Best seafood platter I've had in this country!
Roads to the site can be a bit narrow and bendy so follow thw sites instructions to get there not your Satnav!
Would and certainly will be returning to Dunstan Hill

Motorhome – hard-standing pitch, two adults 65+
Weather during week – several nights below freezing; days with long sunny periods, occasional showers – brisk, chill wind.
This was our first stay at Dunstan Hill Camping & Caravanning Site – our itinerary included coastal walks, real ale pubs, kippers at Craster, visits to Howick Gardens, Holy Island & Alnwick. The site is an excellent centre for all of these with public footpaths directly accessible & a bus service that stops outside the gate.
The well tarmaced camp roads form a large figure 8. Campers can choose between neat, well-drained, stone-chip hardstandings & grass pitches. Electricity (15amp)is available for both. There are two new toilet blocks. The wardens were having to cope with 'a snagging list' of jobs still be be properly finished (eg more pegs upon which to hang clothes, poor quality toilet seats-easily breakable! etc) & a replacemment boiler & pump in one block. One block was always open, but never both. These were kept spotlessly clean. The showers had pre-set hot water & good pressure. The facilities were adequate for the site which was probably less than half full. The grass was exceptionally well maintained. The water, refuse & chemical toilet areas were expertly managed.
The team of six wardens deserve a mention – they were the most cheerful group we have encountered in 15 years of motorhoming. They worked hard to maintain high standards, taking a pride in their efforts. They welcomed comments, usually being well aware of any criticisms & were doing their best to rectify any problems (which were often not of their own making).
Even with above criticisms- we had one of the best weeks we have ever spent on a UK campsite – thanks in no small part to the team running the site!

Location
Rural site but less than a mile from Embleton which has good pubs and a cafe. 15 minutes walk to one of Northumberland's best beaches - Embleton Bay - and the impressive Dunstanburgh Castle. Great place for enjoying the coast.
Facilities
Level site with pristine facilities which have just been refurbished. Really helpful and friendly staff. Walks directly from site.
Price
Standard CCC prices. It was about £20 for the night.
Superb site!

We've just returned from Dunstan Hill after a 3 night break in our new caravan (been camping for 13yrs but getting older, it's time for a little more comfort!). The staff were lovely & friendly, checkin was so easy and we had a choice of available pitches. The warden explained the park & the facilities brilliantly & when I mentioned we were new to caravanning she said to call on them at any time, if we needed anything. Thankfully we didn't but it was good to know we could. A lovely walk through the woods and fields brings you to the lovely beach and Dunstanburgh Castle and a gentle stroll down the road from the campsite brings you into Embleton with a Londis store, a couple of pubs and a hotel that serves meals. We had fish & chips from the van on the Friday which were lovely, tasty and fresh. We had a fantastic time, didn't want to leave. Will definitely go back :)

Just come back from a lovely weekend camping trip at Dunstan Hill, and I have to say what a lovely site! The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The site was pretty flat and very well kept. We were shown to our pitch (we had grass only, no electric) with young children we were situated close to the play area and toilet/shower facilities. The toilets/showers were clean and we never had to queue. I liked the fact that there was a squeegee and mop and disinfectant available in the shower area and the showers were hot and powerful. I also liked the rotary line outside the laundry area - great for drying towels etc. Only negative (if you want to call it a negative, also this obviously isn't the site's fault in anyway shape or form) was poor phone signal in the area, although this is a good excuse not to use it - phone box was available in the information area. Also the reception happily charged my mobile for me. Fish and chip van 2 nights and a pizza van (not sure if just Saturday?) nice for a little great though. All in all a very pleasant peaceful site which I shall definitely return to!

Campsite lovely and clean, and the toilets and showers looked fairly new (always nice when your camping!) The site was fairly close to the beaches and town and they had a nice pub on site if you didn't want to cook, with a lovely atmosphere. Clearly a family run site, and the staff were all very helpful!

We spent a very pleasant three night bank holiday weekend here. This is a very small very basic campsite but is central to everything we wanted to do. The owner was very friendly and pleasant as was his daughter who owns the local pub.
First the cons because that's what most people look for. However, I'm being really picky now and these things in no way detracted from our enjoyment.
The site is very near a road and can get very noisy. Not that it bothered us as we live near an airport. It may however be a drawback for people who like it quiet at night.
Toilet facilities are limited with only one shower which is paid for by a coin meter and no hot water from the tap in the sink. However, they are updating the facilities with a new block.
There's no shop on site although the garage only a couple of minutes walk stocks all the basics food wise and even has a built in chip shop although we didn't quite work out opening times. There's also a free cash point in the garage if it is working.
This is a quiet little site with no play facilities for Children. However, there is loads of room to play ball and run around. Again not a problem for us as our 8 year old is happy to play without the need for play parks and we spent the days out anyway.
Now the pros
The owners were really friendly and helpful. The daughter's pub was lovely and also very friendly. The meal we had (with 10% off for being campsite customers) was enjoyable and plentiful for a reasonable cost.
The pitch itself although on a slight slope was flat and easy to pitch on. It was large enough for us to comfortably fitted our large trailer tent and park the car without feeling cramped. It was extremely clean and well maintained and with good drainage.
It was quiet so the only noise was from the road which most of the time was unobtrusive.
It was very reasonably priced. Less than £45 for three nights over the bank holiday weekend. We camp because its a cheap option for a holiday and camp sites like these mean we can afford more weekends away each year. Too many now cost as much as hotels.
Overall this was a very enjoyable weekend on a lovely little campsite that suited our needs beautifully. We will definitely be booking another weekend at this site.

Checked availability by phone at short notice and no problem booking. Arrived at site and was able to choose pitch. Very friendly and efficient staff. Toilet block was immaculate, separate toilet and shower area - cubicles. Walked down footpath to beach through wood, it's a footpath and it had been raining (a lot), so boots required. Wanted a quiet site and this fitted our requirement. Ordered a paper for the morning which you collect from the site office - butler's day off. Would be nice if WiFi was included, but sure that will come.
