Back to this excellent Site again.
Staff are still as helpful, willing and enthusiastic, even in the latter part of the season. The ground still drains well - we had no problems getting off a grass pitch in our motorhome after several hours of constant rain.
The toilets and showers are still clean and warm but the passion for ventilation (ie open roofwindows) mean they're not the warmest of places.
The new bus timetable needs a degree to be able to understand it but the service is much poorer than in high season. Bus Numbers have changed and there are now fewer direct services down the Coast Route.
Greys Inn still busy at night and good for food though.

Two of us spent 6 days at this site in mid July and were very impressed. Thanks to the appalling wet weather our original site just a few miles from here cancelled our booking the day before we were due to arrive so we were very thankful to get one of the last electric pitches at Dunstan Hill.
It is a much larger site than we would normally choose but that was not a problem. All necessary facilities were easily accessible from anywhere on the site. Despite the rain although very wet underfoot it was never too bad, and as it wasn't cold a pair of Croc shoes proved ideal for getting around the site rather than wellies!
Being a tourer with own toilet & shower we didn't use the site toilets/showers but everything was immaculately maintained by the staff who worked tirelessly from dawn til dusk (and later) keeping everything right and looking after everyone. The well stocked shop and information room were also impressive.
The nearest beach at Dunstan Stead was a short walk with tremendous views. Apart from the obvious visits to Holy Island, Bamburgh & Seahouses a couple of nearby pubs are worth a mention - the Ship and Joiners Arms (both near High/Low Newton by the Sea) were particularly welcoming and provided good food.
We will definitely be visiting again!

We have just come back from a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday at Dunstan Hill, although we picked a week which had the worst storm in history - with torrential rain throughout the county. Site is in a lovely location and ideally situated to visit lots of interesting places around the area
The site wardens were very friendly and seemed quite experienced. The pitches were well kept and spaced out. The shower and toilet blocks were kept spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water in the showers. The beach not far from the site has a large expanse of sand and a lovely view towards Dunstanborough Castle.
The only negative about the site was that the road around the site was full of pot holes and could do with a new surface.
We would love to visit the site again at some point.

Good location, close to the beach and lovely walks through woods and fields. Plenty of facilities around the site so no user would have far to walk for taps/toilets/showers. Lovely warm showers.
Very helpful staff, clearly very experienced at what they do. Unfortunately, the woman on duty when I went to enquire about beaches didn't know much about the local area.
Good pitch sizes - it was very busy when we were there but we didn't feel crammed in. Small but good children's play area. Small but well stocked camp shop with papers to order. Option to buy fish and chips on site 2 days per week.

This must be one of C & C Club's best sites.
First of all, the marvellous location, a short walk from one of the UK's best stretches of beach, ideal for swimming, surfing and just sitting about (when the weather's good enough)
The quality of the Site Management team - each year we've been, a different team but always the same, high standard.
Communications, a 10 minute walk to Embleton Village for pubs, shop, restaurants and a bust stop to take you as far as Newcastle to the South and Berwick to the North.
No shortage of things to do for all ages.
We were here for 3 days when it rained heavily on our last night but staff were still out helping people drain away water. Move vans etc.
A credit to C & C Club.

Having never left a review before I felt I must express what a fantastic site and wardens in particular at this site. Unfortunately I was taken ill whilst on holiday the wardens couldn't have been more helpful offering to look after our children if needed and then checked everyday to make sure I was ok.
We stayed over the Easter holiday and even though it was about 3/4 full it was not overcrowded at all. The pitches were of a very good size, and kept immaculate. The toilets were also immaculate the showers are a bit on the small size if showering with two children! but having said that we never had to queue. There was a small play area for the children which my girls loved (aged 5 and 3) there was also lots of space for them to run around and I felt it safe enough to give them a little freedom and watch from a distance.
The beach is about 15-20 minute walk from the site which is a lovely safe walk and the beach is fantastic. The fish & chip van that comes to the site on a Friday night is worth a visit. There is also a fabulous play area in the next village Embleton.
The weather wasn't great but we still had a fantastic time and will definitely be back again.

Just returned from our first visit to this campsite and we will return again. It's in a good location - less than 20 minute walk to a beautiful clean beach from the site over farmland, 10 minute drive from Alnwick and easily accessible to the other coastal towns. Other than the beach there isn't much within walking distance with young children as we didn't want to take them walking along the country roads.
The site is clean and tidy and the wardens were very helpful. We had to have our car and caravan towed off by the AA at the end of the holiday (car broke down!) and the wardens helped to hook the caravan on the AA truck and also helped us get off site.
I'm a clean freak when it comes to campsite toilets/showers and I have to say they were spotless the whole time we were there. The showers were powerful and hot. There's also good dish washing up facilities and laundry area. The shower/toilet block are basic in that it's a brick building with bare brick on the inside but to me it's more important that they're clean which these were.
The play area is just a swing and slide but my kids still enjoyed it (all boys age 12, 7 and 5). We were there for the second week of the school Easter holidays and the site was probably about 3/4 full. There was plenty of open spaces for the children to run about and it felt safe. The pitches were very generous in size and flat (we were on the bottom field).
The mobile fish and chip van is nice enough with big portion. The Jolly Fisherman at Craster was lovely food off the main menu was lovely but the children's meals were very disappointing. The Harry Potter experience during the school holidays at Alnwick Castle is well worth a visit. We paid for the gardens but to be honest it wasn't really worth it, the kids were bored other than the maze.

This is a really good site. The site is well kept and very clean. We had hook up. The toilets are clean and plenty of them, the showers were clean and with plenty of hot water, and plenty of hot water for washing up.
We have a 19 month old boy and he could easily fit in the big sink meant for baby baths in the baby room and loved the Winnie the Pooh decor.
The staff were very friendly and one warden loaned us an hook up extension lead and gave us more guy ropes when it got windy and parked their car by our tent to stop the hurricane blowing us away. They kept checking on us every day just to make sure we were happy but were not intrusive.
The play ground is a bit basic but there is a really great play park in the next village embleton five minutes away.
Some lovely pubs nearby and a great walk to the beach. 2 swallows nests in the facilities blocks made for some lovely interest too. This is a real gem.
We would go here again maybe a bit earlier in the year to try and get better weather.

Can not praise this site highly enough. We arrived late evening after an 8 hour journey having discovered that a near by campsite wouldn't honor our pre-booking. The wardens here couldn't have been more helpful.
The site although full didn't feel overcrowded and was spotless. The toilets were clean as were the showers, these were free and lovely and hot.
There was a fantastic walk (about 20mins)over the fields to an idyllic beach. We also cycled to Craster along a well maintained cycle path (about 40mins).
A bus stop located right outside the campsite took us to Alnwick. The mobile chip shop can also be recommended.

My family have stayed here every summer for the past 3 years and are going again this summer.
It's a lovely friendly site, good pitches and a nice walk to the beach (go left at bottom toilet block, not right like we did 1st time & got lost.
The park on site is tiny but is a magnet for the kids, My 2 lads (14 & 12) & girl (10) love playing blocky with other kids.
The site is really safe but if you have younger kids ask for a pitch next to park area so you can keep a closer eye.
