We have just spent another enjoyable week on this site. The best thing is its location, with a 20 minute walk down to the fabulous beach, although you cannot see the sea from the site.
This site is hugely popular with dog owners, almost every unit had 2 or 3 dogs, so inevitably there was quite a lot of barking and yapping as people walked their dogs past other dogs.
The toilet blocks were always spotless and the staff were very friendly. The fish and chip van has returned, visiting Friday nights.
Must dos are a boat trip from Seahouses to see puffins, seals and if you are very lucky, dolphins and walk along the coastal path from the site to Craster, past Dunstanburgh Castle. Slate Hall horse riding stables in North Sunderland is great, they do a fabulous 2 hour ride on Bamburgh beach (for experienced riders only). There are other rides available.

Very nice campsite and really good base for some of the surrounding areas best features. The toilet block is excellent and there is a park for small children. It has a little more people on it than I would normally like but the grounds are well maintained and it is calm after 9pm. The only issue I have is that one or two of the staff were a bit rude and picky. However not to the point where we would have not returned. Nice walk down to the beach which is good on a night to watch the stars over Dunstanburgh Castle.

First class site. Standard of showers / toilets some of the best we have experienced. Wardens first class on a busy first day of the season. Wonderful location on the Northumberland coast with lots of walking direct from the site. We are from the area and know it well. In our opinion the best site in the area. Don't miss out if you visit Northumberland!

From the moment we first phoned to enquire to the moment we left at the end of our stay, we were very, very impressed with the friendliness, helpfulness, the information and standard of this campsite.
We wanted to stay for one night, then store our motorhome for 5 nights while we cycled, then back for three nights. It was all sorted and booked efficiently so we looked forward to our visit. We weren't disappointed. Sheena, Bob and their staff were wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. The toilets and showers were always clean and we didn't have to queue, even when the site was busy on both weekends. The view over the fields was lovely and we enjoyed watching the harvesting. The local pub, Greys Inn at Embleton was a gorgeous walk across fields: the pub was buzzing with a great atmosphere. The walk to Dunstanburgh Castle was stunning. We had lovely lunches at both The Jolly Fisherman as well as the Shoreline cafe at Craster.

Had a weeks stay here last August to give our new tent a run out and enjoyed it very much. The site is kept clean and tidy with very helpful staff. Facilities are clean with nice showers and there are good washing up sinks for the campers to use. Childrens playground and playing area is located at the bottom of the site. We had some strong storms at the beginning of the week and so were grateful for the trees that are around the site. The site is quiet, not in a bad way, in a good way, its not near a busy road or anything which we liked. Our children enjoyed it as well. I would certainly come back here again!

One of our favourite Sites, thanks to the excellent location and staff. Our only warning, though, would be to stay away if you don't like or are allergic to dogs. I think we were almost the only people on Site without at least one. The Site is on a slight slope so chocks might be a help if you're sensitive to that sort of thing. It also felt quite closely packed, we weren't sure how closely C & CC rules were being followed as regards distance between pitches.
The beaches here are almost up to the standard of the Outer Hebrides and well worth the walk.

Bland and characterless site with a lovely beach nearby. All is clean and tidy and the staff are friendly and helpful. Busy with lots of children heading for the beach. Close to historic sites that are well worth a visit whatever your age.

The site is on a slight slope and open with no hedging or privacy. North side of the site is sheltered from the wind by a small wood but doesn't get any evening sun. It is a 1 mile walk to Embleton Bay, through a wood which is often muddy and uneven, meadow and then a quiet lane.
There are three dog friendly pubs in Embleton (Greys Inn has a great selection of real ales but only a small patio and garden at the back)(15 mins stroll). The Ship at Low Newton is a gem with it's own microbrewery but an hours walk along the beach.
The dog shower on site was a great feature.
This site rightly gets great reviews but not sure I would want to visit during the school holidays as they do tend to cram everyone in with no privacy.

We have just spent another enjoyable week on this site. The best thing is its location, with a 20 minute walk down to the fabulous beach. Unfortunately when we were there, this walk was very muddy and very slippery. As we were pitched next to the entrance to it, we were witness to many people coming back who had either given up, or fallen over. This meant that many of the dog walkers resorted to driving down to the beach instead, which was a shame. I gather that the walk is not owned by the CCC, so it is not their fault.
The toilet blocks were always spotless and the staff were very friendly. The fish and chip van no longer visits this site, but you can order them as takeaway from the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel in Embleton, as long as they are not too busy.
Must dos are a boat trip from Seahouses to see puffins, seals and if you are very lucky, dolphins. Slate Hall horse riding stables in North Sunderland is great, they do a fabulous 2 hour ride on Bamburgh beach (for experienced riders only). There are other rides available.

We've visited many C&CC club sites and have been members for many years. We visited this one for our main two week summer holiday so were at peak holiday time. We booked several months in advance.
We arrived on a Monday afternoon and there was only one grass pitch with electric left available for us in the middle of the first field. Not a place I would naturally choose to be sited for two weeks.
This did mean we felt hemmed in at times, unable to use our pitch to sit out much or barbecue, although the 'Little Britain' mentality of some campers surrounding their entire pitches with wind breaks seemed a bit OTT! Overall the site felt crowded, it was a slalom course around guy ropes and pup tents to get our car to our pitch.
The site was very popular with dog owners, we were one of very few families without one on the entire site! There was a lot of barking during the day with some particularly yappy types which caused some tension between campers. To be fair the site was very quiet after 11pm although some campers rise very early!
The facilities were much as you expect on a C&CC site, modern and clean. The showers were excellent and not busy even if you choose to shower first thing in the morning.
I don't know why the lighting on C&CC sites is so bad and this one was no exception. Northumberland is one of the darkest places in the UK but for some reason a ridiculously overpowered floodlight is poorly installed on the reception building flooding the first field with harsh white light all night long.
The staff were very friendly and approachable. The reception building was open for a few hours a day and sold local bread and milk and other essentials.
The site is a good 30 minute walk from the beach, a bit too far and rough underfoot to do regularly carrying beach paraphernalia but pleasant enough as an evening stroll. Cheap or free parking is available at many places along the coast for the excellent and quiet beaches. Overall though the site felt a bit isolated, it was a good walk to get anywhere or a car journey.
Can highly recommend The Joiner's Arms in High Newton by the Sea for eating, but book a table any day of the week as it is popular.
Overall. A good C&CC site but not the best we've ever been too. We would have preferred an edge pitch to give us more feeling of space, many of these seemed to be hard standing or without electricity though. In hind sight we should have asked not to be on a central pitch when we booked.
