This was our first camping trip in 12 yrs and our first visit to a CCC site and we will definitely use it again when we are in the area.
On arrival, the man on reception booked us in quickly and then explained a little about the site, the facilities and the local area. He then got on his bike, much to the delight of our 2yr old, and showed us to the area where we were to pitch our tent. We were then given a choice of site. We chose to pitch near to the children's play area so we could keep an eye on our little one. The play area has a couple of swings, climbing frame and slide and is a magnet for all the children on the site! Our little one loved it!
The site facilities are excellent! As said previously the toilet blocks (2 of) are closed and cleaned daily and are closed at different times so the facilities are always available. They are also checked in an evening and all supplies (toilet roll etc) are replenished.
The grassed areas are mown regularly and bins emptied daily.
It was a lovely, quiet site where the other campers were very friendly. There was a 'no noise after 11pm' rule and this was definitely the case. We started our stay on a Monday and ended on a Sunday and even though the site became very busy from the Friday through to the Sunday, the evenings were quiet.
The site staff are very quick to deal with any problems you may have - a toilet became blocked one evening and after reporting it, they arrived straight away and it was cleared and cleaned up within minutes.
The dog walk is great, and a lovely facility to have on site.
It is only a 20 minute walk (with a 2yr old and trike!) to the beach and it was reasonably quiet with just a handful of people about.
The site shop is small but caters for basic provisions eg: bread, milk, eggs etc. The Fish n' Chip van visits twice weekly and we used this one evening rather than cooking, and it was a reasonable price (£4.50).
There are a choice of four pubs in Embleton for local evening meals and I can highly recommend The Sportsman for food!
Overall, the site is a lovely, friendly place for families or couples. The site staff are fantastic and always have time to chat and we will definitely visit again in the future.

Nice campsite which was very popular with dog owners I would say that most units had at least one, probably because of the fantastic dog walk which led onto the beach. Pleasant wardens, good facilities and well serviced - we saw a fish and chip van, and a newspaper van calls each morning.
Lovely beaches within driving distance, we also visited Berwick Upon Tweed and Holy Island / Lindisfarne. The campsite reception have tide times for driving to Lindisfarne which was useful. Nice food at the nearby Cottage Inn.

We only recently joined the C&CC to take advantage of the saving we would make while staying at the above site for a fortnight in June.
On arrival at the site, paid my outstanding balance to a friendly warden and then another warden escorted me to my pitch. Being not very good at reversing my caravan onto the pitch, he stayed and guided me back which was a nice touch.
Pitch itself was hard standing, level and close to the toilets, water and dog walk. Having three dogs . We couldn't ask for more. The dog walk is excellent, a nice walk through some wooded area and if you want you can walk to to the beach at Embleton or into Craster and out to Dunstanburgh Castle. Most dog walkers seem to be responsible and we came across no evidence of anyone not cleaning up after their dog.
There are two sets of WC/Shower blocks. Each one closes for about 2 hours each day for cleaning but one is always open. Three showers / three WC's / urinals and sinks in each block. For such a big site, it can get quite busy at times.
During the two weeks we stayed, the site was always busy, especially at weekends when lots more people in tents arrived but the atmosphere was good.
The site reception building sells basic supplies such as drinks / bread / milk etc. And a burger van comes to the site twice a week.
While it's great that the site is in a lovely area, your nearest petrol station is in Alnwick, almost 7 miles away and there are no takeaways nearby to get a chinese/burger though as stated, the van does come to the site twice a week.
We had a really good stay at Dunstan Hill which is well located for exploring Northumberland. We will definitely be back.

This was our second trip away with our caravan and our second experience of a Camping & Caravan Club site and yet again we weren’t disappointed!
We were welcomed warmly by the reception staff and a friendly gentleman took us, by bicycle, to our level grass pitch with close by electric point. Bins and facilities were close to the pitch which was nice rather than trekking for miles to get your fresh water!
There are 2 sets of toilets/shower blocks on site which is rather handy. Sensibly these are closed at different times for cleaning meaning there are always facilities available. The toilets were clean and well kept as were the showers.
There is a small on site shop which sold all the necessaries at very reasonable prices and they have the facility to exchange your gas bottle on site also.
The dog walk is a gorgeous wooded walk direct from the site which takes you down to the coastline with the postcard view of Dunstanburgh Castle. It was only around a mile away and perfect for an evening stroll – incredibly relaxing!
There’s a small children’s play area with a couple of swings and a climbing frame / slide which kept our little boy entertained and tired out! The site is only 8 mile from Alnwick and there is a large Morrison’s there for your big shop! There’s a £1 charge for car parking but this refunded when you spend over £5 in the store.
This site was brilliant, felt like we were miles away and very peaceful. We shall definitely be returning here in the future and were sorry to be leaving after only a weekend!

A fabulous site. My wife thinks this is the best C+CC site we have ever stayed on.
The great thing is that you can park the car up and leave it for a few days as you walk off the site. On day 1, we walked along the beach to Low Newton to the Ship Inn and on day 2, we walked the other way to Dunstanburgh Castle and into Craster where we bought some amazing kippers for the BBQ.
The dog walk is the best I have seen - not a patch of grass in the corner, but a wooded walk!
The children loved ths site - they played in the woods and the play area was adequate.
My only gripe is that the toilet block is not heated and the dish washing area is comically small - we all tended to help each other as we were shoulder to shoulder!
The staff were great - one even dressing up as the Easter bunny!
We will be back - highly recommended!

Super site only about 15mins walk from the coast.
Overall the site is well laid out, level and spacious. There are two toilet blocks at either end of the site which are spotless and experience even over eater little queueing. There appears to be a large number of seasonal pitches taken up throughout the site so must be popular. The site provides a basic shop and this is supplemented by a fish and chip van twice a week - very reasonably priced and a newspaper van each morning.
Worth visiting is Alnwick Castle and Gardens buy the combined ticket as it allows you in on two consecutive days and there is plenty to fill two days. Lindesfarne is very crowded! The beach at Embleton Bay is within walking distance or a max of 5 minutes drive in the car. The beach is beautiful completely unspoilt. Embleton has a small store with very friendly staff or go into Alnwick for supermarkets and more. The open top bus is worth doing whilst there.
Overall a site and area to remember

This is a lovely site only about a mile from the coast. The site is quite level with two toilet blocks. There seems to be more hardstandings every time we visit but there are still plenty of grass pitches (with or without electric) The toilets and showers are kept to a high standard, the only downside is the disabled room. While it is spotless there is no heating. The walls are bare brick and the floor quarry tiled which makes it very cold when you are showering. The site sells basic provisions and there is a fish and chip van calls Wednesday and Saturday (£4.50 for fish and chips).
The nearest beach is Embleton Bay which is about 5 minutes drive in the car. The beach is beautiful golden sand, ideal for children and very uncrowded. The nearest town with supermarkets and shops is Alnwick which is 8 mile away. The surrounding area is beautiful and unspoilt. If castles are your thing then there are plenty to go round. The site has a basic play area for children and also a dog walk, which can get very muddy in bad weather. This is the third time we have visited the site and while the weather was awful this time it will not stop us from returning to this beautiful part of the country in the future.

This site is in a fantastic location, especially if you do not want to take your Motorhome out once you have pitched it!
There is a glorious beach just a short walk from the site.
In one direction you can walk to the village of Craster and if you walk in the other direction you reach the charming hamlet of Newton on the Sea.
Embleton Village is around a 20/30 minute walk away up the road and that has a selection of pubs.
Great area for walking, especially if you have a dog!
Good, friendly wardens who gave us a choice of pitches without any fuss.
Highly recommended site.

I decided to take my 6 yr old son just for the one night somewhere local and I remembered visiting here around 10 yrs ago so as it is only around a 40 minute drive rang up to see if we could get a pitch. Spoke to a staff member who was very friendly and although you can only book for a minimum of 2 nights, did say there were plenty of spaces if I wanted to just turn up and stay for one. I decided to do just that but my one criticism is I wasn't told that you can't book on before 12.30pm and when I turned up at 11.30 a.M. Reception was closed and there was just a sign on the door saying 'wait in the carpark we'll be back ASAP' (no time estimation). After 10 minutes and a 6yr old desperately wanting to put the tent up I spoke to a chap who said the staff would be cleaning the toilets. On approaching the staff they initially seemed reluctant to do anything other than make me wait however eventually said to see the 'chap on the tractor' who would sort me out.
This was 'Bill' who couldn't have been more helpful and booked us on early, showing us to a nice quiet spot (gave us a choice of near all the other families or quiet area!).
The site is generally well maintained and the clientele mainly families and while we were there they all seemed to respect others and there was no music blaring, loud talking at night etc. As seems common with a lot of sites these days.
The playpark, while small, is a magnet for the kids and my son loved it. I was happy to let him go on his own after initially going with him as there are always plenty other kids there.
The showers and toilets are clean, but could probably do with an update and the shower pressure is a little on the low side but adequate I suppose and is at no extra cost.
I was pleased we came on a Wednesday as the Fish and Chip van visits that evening and is of a decent standard and prices are reasonable (£4.50 for Cod and Chips).
Overall I would recommend this site if you want somewhere quiet but with loads of places to visit nearby. There is very little on site but for me that is great as I prefer not to have clubs/entertainment etc. The staff seem friendly and helpful, just don't arrive before 12.30p.M.!

This was a splendid site in every way. It was far enough off the beaten track to give that sense of getting away from it all yet close to many tourist attractions like Bamburgh Castle and Holy Isle. The site staff were friendly and helpful. The amenities were clean and well cared for. We were on this site for a fortnight and while it was full most of that time we always managed to get a shower or use the other facilities. A chip van calls twice a week and a paper van every morning. The shop provides necessaries like bread or rolls and milk. There is a near by beach which was good for the children. We would go back to this site because we enjoyed it so much
