We stayed on this fairly commercial site for 5 days over a bank holiday weekend and (unsurprisingly) it was packed. After paying £18 per night & £10 deposit for the security key, we were handed a map & directed to a fairly small camping area for people with dogs. Whilst close to all facilities it's directly next to the sceptic tank & chemical toilet disposal site which absolutely stinks. We pitched as far away as possible & still got regular wafts. Despite completing all paperwork 3 months in advance for 2 adjacent pitches we couldn't camp next to our family as no spaces had been reserved & we couldn't move to the more spacious field because of the dog! Our tent ended up squashed inbetween 2 drive-ways and one campervan even popped our guy line by driving too close.
BEWARE - take rock pegs for this site. We destroyed over 30 metal pegs between our 2 tents trying to get them into the ground. Even plastic pegs came out bent! Only rock pegs and Deltas survived.
The (ladies) facilities are excellent. There are 2 toilet/shower blocks with 6 toilets, 5 showers & a strip wash cubicle. There's also a disabled toilet/shower room. I never had to queue for a shower and there was loads of hot water. Both blocks were thoroughly cleaned daily about midday. The only minus was that the floors became very slippery when wet, whether due to steam or rain.
There is also a small washing up room in the ladies block & it's a bit strange to see men coming out of the ladies!
The on-site shop sells very little as most things (papers, bread, croissants, eggs etc) have to be ordered in advance.
Although only allowed to camp (in tents) in a small area, dogs are made welcome on this site & the dog walk is fabulous. Our hound was shattered at the end of everyday having run himself stupid in the woods.

We have just come back from a lovely relaxing stay at this campsite.
The owners Mel & Sue are lovely, we had a friendly welcome and a good introduction to the site.
We arrived on a Saturday staying for 6 days in a tent with one dog. We were told that we could pitch up anywhere in area D, which was quite busy but we managed to find a good spot. The ground is lovely (no bent pegs from this site) and very even. Some areas of this site are part of an SSSI (the lake and I think Emma's Field) so no dogs are allowed and the only downside to the pitch that we ended up on is that is was very close to the chemical and grey water disposal which was a bit stinky if the wind was going in the wrong direction or it was a warm day. Next time I think we would have squeezed in a bit further away!
This site is ideal for dogs, the whole site is well enclosed and no matter where you were pitched you would only be a short walk away from the woodland walk and pitch and putt golf course where dogs were free to roam.
The site is controlled by a security barrier, you pay a £10 refundable deposit for the card and you can then come and go as you please.
The shop on site stocks the essentials and there are local shops and a large Sainsburys within a five minute drive. You can order a paper and warm bagguettes/croissants from the shop which opens from 08:30.
The toilet and shower blocks and dishwashing areas were very clean and we never had to wait even during busy periods.
We had no problems getting in or out of the campsite either down the lane or getting back onto the A31.
Some people have commented on the road noise, we live in the country and are not used to road noise, we could hear the road but it is a long way off and not loud at all.
The campsite has a lovely friendly atmosphere, we will definitely be going back soon!

Just returned from an eight night stay at this absolutely brilliant site. If you want a chilled holiday, this is the place to be. I cant understand why other reports have complained about the road up to the site, yes it is a bit bumpy, but there is a 5 mph speed limit, we did not have a problem at all. We stayed in the Warren field which is brilliant, which is for tents only, all with electric hook up.
The site is so peaceful, birds singing, owls hooting, loads of rabbits running around. Our English Springer loved every minute of our stay, plenty of walks on the site, and entertainment watching the rabbits!
The shower facilities are immaculate, and we never had to wait to use the facilities. The site owners are very friendly and will ensure that your stay is memorable.
The Woodman pub up the road,is excellent value, with a 2 for 1 offer, the food is excellent, with a very good menu, with the addition of the specials board. Sainsburys supermarket is just up the road, about 5-10 minutes drive away.
This site is a credit to the owners, everywhere is maintained to very high standards, and we would highly recommend this site Cant wait to go back next year for a longer stay

Choose this site for our first foray into camping based on the reviews and the fact that it was adult only.
We had a really good week with only a few moments of Dorset liquid sunshine as it was called but a bad storm on one night.
However the site was quick to drain as its on chalk.
Showers and toilets were clean with large shower cubicles enabling you to keep clothes dry, the addition of a mop and bucket in each cubicle was good as it gave you the chance to maintain the cleanliness.
Both the internal and external wash up areas whilst adequate could have done with the water being a tad warmer.
Our dog loved this place and spent most of the time with its nose down taking in all the new smells. (My apologies to all the campers who were woke at 6 am one morning by him barking and chasing rabbits, got out before I had the lead on properly)
To have such a huge space to walk him and us, on site was another reason we came to this site, all the other dog owners we met had been coming here for years and were friendly, as were our camping neighbours
The road nose is noticeable mainly because of the roundabout, you can hear cars / motorbikes accelerating but not in an intrusive way.
Site security was good with the barrier system.
Overall highly recommended and we hope to return in the future

Just arrived back from a 4 night stay at this site, on the whole very peaceful and relaxing with a wonderful dog walking area in the woods which our dog loved and took every opportunity to visit, this really is a very dog friendly place.
The field reserved for tents was nice and flat with no overcrowding although it was quite busy due to the time of year, still enough room for us all to have our own space.
Although situated just off of a major road you still felt as if you were miles from anywhere, but had easy access to two supermarkets and a burger chain just a short drive away, also within easy reach lots of foody pubs.
Although we enjoyed our stay here a couple of things did let it down in comparison to other Tranquil sites we have used.
The cleanliness of the ladies ablutions left a bit to be desired, I think this was mainly due to the inconsiderate nature of other users who seemed incapable of cleaning up after themselves even though mop and bucket are supplied, this was also the case at the two washing up areas.
The other thing that was a little off putting was the chemical disposal and grey water disposal area, situated at the end of the camping field near the toilets, the smell from this was extremely unpleasant all of the time, I know this facility has to be provided but I have never smelt one quite this bad on any previous sites used, this really could do with some improvement
Even though there were a few negatives, this is still a lovely site, well situated for visiting lot's of places and giving you the opportunity to completely de stress and unwind. It would just be much better if others were more considerate.

We spent 3 nights at this site while we attended the Bournmouth airshow. After struggling to find the site, as the directions stopped at the roundabout, the road leading to the site was neglected and we passed a scrapyard, so first impressions were not good. It is true that there is a security barrier and that the owners were welcoming, however that was the last we saw of them.
We were told we could choose our pitch but as previously mentioned the majority of the pitches were taken by seasonal vans so the choice was limited to 2 pitches. The pitch we settled for was very threadbare with no grass at all as the previous occupant had not bothered to lift the groundsheet, so when it rained we had a muddy puddle to contend with.
We could not find any facilities for recycling and there was 1 domestic bin near the washing up area (that's all we could find anyway). The grey water and chemical point was smelly and one of the toilets was blocked. The dog poo bin was also full throughout our stay.
The showers were clean and plenty of hot water
It was a very quiet site and we were not bothered by road noise. It was convenient for visiting the coast and Poole was particularly worth a visit with dedicated motorhome parking at the harbour (information given to us by another motorhome owner, not the site owners).
We felt this site was expensive at £23 per night and could have done with some attention to detail, it looked shabby. The tent fields however looked to be in a better state than the tourer area.

My first EVER camping experience, as normal we picked the worst ever time to have a few days away. Arrived Thursday afternoon and put tent up in the wonderful Emmas field, choosing where we wanted to go, although if we had known the weather was going to be so bad we may have chosen a different place! But still we had rain and heavy winds all night and for the next 2 days and nights on and off. But I loved it, so peaceful, watching the rabbits playing from my tent, the lovely friendly owners in their little shop, walking round the little lakes and watching the beautiful sunset (on the one dryish evening!). I am hooked I now love camping and cant wait to go again, hopefully when it is not raining or blowing a gale. Shops and restaurants/pubs near enough to drive to in 5 minutes. The roads a bit bumpy but nothing a normal car cant manage and the noise from the main road is minimal unless major police chase ! Showers and loos spotless and really lovely and hot. I will be back, thanks for my introduction to camping.

We stayed for a week, and had a wonderful time, its very, very quiet, toilets/showers clean plenty of hot water, centrally located to visit all the area has to offer. Downsides-none, some people say you can hear noise from the road I never noticed. Plenty of wild life to see (rabbits galore) and great walks in the woods, Southbourne beach is a must, if you want peace quiet then look no further

We spent a lovely week on this campsite. Very clean toilet and shower blocks, ground nice and flat, and wonderful walk round the lake area with lots of birds to watch.
The only down side was the smell of the chemical and grey water waste point. We will be returning but will pitch tent on another part of the site.
Owners very friendly and helpful. Small shop on site which is useful for milk/papers etc.

This is a clean well presented site. Sue and Mel welcomed us and were on site to make sure all ran well. The showers and toilets were immaculately clean and smart. My husband enjoyed the pitch and putt very much. We ate every night at the St.Leonards Hotel just up the road on the A31. The food was very reasonable and some meals were 2 for £9.95. Excellent value and we were made welcome by friendly staff every night (they all came to say farewell when we left). The A31 however is a different matter altogether. We are early risers and like to go out early but this was not possible on this road.(if you could get out that is) It is not advisable to go anywhere till the rush hour traffic dies down, unfortunately by this time you are lucky to get a parking place anywhere near the sea front at any coastal destination. Even though the A31 is 1/2 a mile away you can still hear it all through the night if (like us) you are a light sleeper. We thought at £20 a night it was dear for what you get.
