Just returned from a week at this site, overall we enjoyed our stay and the site itself is kept clean and tidy. Through out our stay the site was very peaceful and friendly and this is down to the people visiting the site looking for the same peace and tranquillity and respecting each other, it really is a bonus of an Adult only site.
The pitches are spacious and well laid out in the main area and the pond area is lovely to walk around and enjoy the local wildlife. The fishing is poor but I know the owners hope to rectify this over the closed season
This may sound a bit moany but I also read reviews looking for honesty so that I know what to expect so I hope this is helpful.
There were a few niggly things (and I mean Niggly, they certainly did not spoil our stay), such as the hot water not readily available until after 7. 30am (also early evening they are not very warm) and it takes a bit to reach temp, which made showers a bit congested on occasions and the hand basin taps don't stay on at all which makes washing hands a pain and pressure is low, particularly when busy. Although the facilities are a bit tired and I understand from the new owners that they have plans to refurbish the site to bring it up to standard for the price bracket so I look forward to seeing the improvements and hopefully they will upgrade the waste facilities so that the smells don't keep wafting across the pitches which is unpleasant although not all the time. To the credit of the new owners when faults were reported they were repaired swiftly and thisI think is the challenge until they can spend time in the closed season completing the works they wish to do and can't during the open season.
Our main concern with returning to this site is the access, this is down a mainly single track that can cause problems for those arriving when departures are late leaving this site, this is not such a major issue but the condition of the track is, even travelling 5 mph the pot holes are so severe and frequent that it is a concern for our vehicle and means the caravan took some rocking and bouncing, then you have to exit onto the main A31 just past a roundabout which can be a bit hairy

Just returned home after a week on this site booked it due to other reviews and they wasn't wrong what a cracking site. Owner's can't do enough to help you they always seem to be doing something to improve the site on arrival they show you a load of pitches to choose from which is nice most pitches are reasonably flat. Toilet blocks are always clean washing up facilities are always clean.Camp in general is very clean and tidy if your looking for a quiet camp then book this camp. will be back and if the only thing people can moan about is a bit of grass on bathroom floors then these owners aren't doing a bad job. Big thanks to the owner and the rest of the team great site keep up the good work.

This had to be our most relaxing holiday here to date. This is our 6th year at this campsite and the new owners have really supported the chilled out atmosphere whilst making a few changes that make your stay even more enjoyable.
You can tell they want you to have the best time possible. The new coffee machine, yummy fresh bread and papers in the morning isn't the hardest way to start your day:)
We spent most of our time relaxing on site, with lots of ice cream. The new owners now stock bags of ice so no need to hunt round for this.
We didn't cook much, distributing our time between the fish and chip van, Mexican 'Fajita Burrito' van, local Chinese delivery and the well stocked shop of munchies.
Site is well kept, very clean shower/toilet block.
We would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone you wants a well run, friendly site with great facilities.
The Waltons look forward to returning next year.

Just spent 3 nights at this site and it was very enjoyable. The new management are working to make the site even better and provide a good service. Site is well maintained with good facilities and toilet blocks were clean. The SSI area around the lakes was tranquil and an excellent place to watch the wildlife which included various species of dragonflies, woodpeckers and swans. More than adequate dog walking areas but evidence of some inconsiderate dog owners not cleaning up after their pets e. G. On the 'pitch and putt' fairway! The on-site shop sells produce from the local butcher and baker and during our stay a mexican take-away van visited the site one evening. This was the first time it had done so and it provided a good meal at a reasonable price.
Will certainly recommend this site to friends and visit it again

We stayed during July this year as our first caravan trip after buying a caravan 25 years after selling our last unit whilst the family grew up. We were attracted to the adults only and tranquil comments. We were not disappointed! A lovely quiet site with good clean facilities albeit a bit dated. Our hosts only brought the park a few months ago and are already embarking on an active improvement programme. They were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Location is great for the local sites of the New Forest and the towns of Lymington, Poole etc. We highly recommend this site for those who enjoy peace and quiet but within a friendly atmosphere. Well done guys!

Didn't even know this campsite was here until a friend mentioned it. After looking on their website decided to book two nights to try it. We were not disappointed. A fabulous site. Very quiet (no children). Pitches are marked out but we could choose our own pitch. Gorgeous woodland walk and lakes. Got some fab photos. Also Pitch and putt which we didn't have time to play. Clay oven pizzas available on Friday night (freshly baked). They also do fish and chips on a Sunday night, but that's the day we came home. Only a couple of miles from the CastleMaine trailway, so we cycled to Wimborne Minster (a lovely ride of about 12 miles) Toilets / showers / washing up area all kept tidy. Plenty of hot water. Loads of wildlife around. Small shop at reception where you could get ice creams, fresh burgers and sausages and order bread for your breakfast. Loads of leaflets on local attractions. A great place just to relax and listen to the birds singing. Cant wait to go back. Will definitely be recommending

Lovely adult only campsite, quiet and well kept, very clean and tidy. Shower/toilet blocks very clean with fresh flowers, liquid soap and hand cream, a welcome touch.
Campsite was a little difficult to find as postcode takes you to wrong side of the duel carriageway, you need to go to the roundabout and come back on yourself (travelling from the north).
Owners very friendly and helpful, good supply of basics in the shop.
Several pubs nearby to eat although not impressed with the nearest one. Several supermarkets for supplies within a couple of miles and a lovely café next to Tesco which do a fab breakfast, based in a community theatre.
Loads to do for all interests in the area and bike hire nearby (Burley). They look after you very well and the routes are well worth buying at less than £4 for about 8 routes. The railway route worth it just for the cream teas at the station café.
Road to the campsite rather bumpy but owners have only been there 3 months and several issues are on their to do list including signage on main road.
My only criticism would be that the lights go out fairly early in the toilet blocks, not an issue for the showers which have windows but quite gloomy in the loos and the wash cubicles.
Would definitely go back again, flat pitches and beautiful surroundings.

The day we arrived at Back of Beyond to enquire about a seasonal pitch, it was wet and cold and the rain was falling in sheets. Everything was grey and dismal, but yet, the charm and serenity of this beautiful location shone through. On entering their reception, we met the new owners who were literally moving in as the park was opening for the beginning of the season. For most, moving home in itself is no mean feat, but to be taking over a new business and creating a new home as well as offering a 5* service, we knew from the off that this was where we wanted to be. We 'moved in' the following week and have not looked back! The site itself is very special. Extremely generous pitches within a tranquil, quiet, pretty Countryside setting. The air is clean, the peace is welcome and the abundance of small wildlife and both wild and cultured flowers alike is encouraged. All facilities on site are maintained to a very high standard both inside and out from the toilet and shower facilities to the Woodland Walks and the Pitch & Putt. Reception serves also as a very well equipped shop and is generally a hive of activity with fresh coffee facilities, free wi-fi, daily newspapers and orders taken for fresh breakfast pastries and croissants etc. This is our perfect site and we always leave fully refreshed very much looking forward to coming back. What these guys have achieved in 3 months is exceptional and we are very much looking forward to continuing their venture with them, alongside with all the other extremely friendly seasonals and fantastic tourers that we've had the good fortune to encounter already.

Excellent site and the new owners and Manager, Malcolm, go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. When we arrived we had a problem with our caravan and even though this was prior to a busy bank holiday weekend Malcolm helped sort it out no problem at all. We stayed for a week and the location is great for exploring the New Forest. We had a bit of rain over the weekend and once again the owners sorted this out excellently making sure everyone was ok and the buzz of the site on the Saturday night with bbqs going etc was just great. It is a great site with good facilities, a great shop, ample space, beautiful woodland, fishing lakes and to top it all the owners and manager are really helpful and their customer service is outstanding. Considering when we visited they had only had the site for a short period of time it is amazing what they are doing. We will be back ! Well done to all the team there and thank you for a great holiday.

This was our first visit to Back of Beyond after searching long and hard for a campsite in the New Forest. It ticked all the boxes: big pitches, spotlessly clean toilet/shower facilities, great location, friendly owners and staff, shop with all of the basics.
We had a very relaxing stay in wall to wall sunshine, and are planning our next visit in a few weeks. The new owners clearly have lots of ideas and it will be interesting to see how the site develops over time.
Well worth a visit.
