Site was located immediately after the roundabout, access shared with a neighbouring touring park, not part of Back of Beyond. Wasn't required to pay deposit for access fob.
Gained access to site and asked to remain in the car and a member of staff will come out to you. Lots of information shared, but also issued with information pack. Staff will escort you to your pitch, if it's first time visiting.
Located on pitch 41, easily accessible to the dog woodland walk. Various caterers come onto the site throughout the week. Fish and chips were very nice!
Shower/toilet facilities were just a short distance from our pitch, very clean, although as requested mainly used onboard facilities.
Due to the lovely weather, we visited the bar for a very refreshing cider and lager.
Excellently positioned to some beautiful places, we visited Christchurch, Sandbanks, Durdle Door, Mudeford beach. We'd also pre booked to attend Stonehenge, a very enjoyable day!
This was our 2nd holiday destination of a two week holiday, devastated when the day came to go back home, as there was still so much to do and see.
Will definitely come back again.

A very pleasant site. Very quiet and clean. The lakes and walks are beautiful. The washrooms and showers are clean and well cared for.
The location of the site is really close to the New Forest. So much to see and do! The staff are all friendly and helpful. The pitches are spacious and well kept
My ONLY criticism would be the water tap nearest to us is very difficult to use. It would be helpful if it had a short piece of hose attached so we could aim at the water carrier stood on the ground. It’s not possible to stand up straight while holding the filling container because of the box that insulates the tap.

Lovely site, upon arrival we were met and given an envelope with site map, access keycard and then shown to our pitch.
We had requested a large grass pitch, this was a bit of a letdown. The area was bare or any grass to pitch on as this was completely worn away leaving a hard stony dirt patch right in the centre of the pitch.
We cleared most of the larger stones but you always miss one or three of them.
The rest of the site was good, clean well spaced out pitches, well stocked shop, small outsde bar that shut at 8pm, and various food caterers that visit most nights.
Great place to stay if you like to walk or cycle.
Lovely woodland on site to walk the dogs.
Would go again, but would ask for a better pitch

Back of beyond was a mixture of somethings better than I had expected and somethings worse. After reading previous reviews I was not looking forward to going down the small road that leads directly to the campsite, but this was not too bad at all, fairly level and you could see that the previous holes had been filled in,
So that was a positive but the main road that you have to travel on to get to it is horrendous! not only is it just off the stretch of busy road, there is an island nearly opposite the entrance which means when you are coming back from the other direction you have to pass the 2 lanes of traffic to get across 2 lines of traffic straight away.
If pulling out you have to pull out very quickly to get up to speed as the cars coming of the mentioned island are travelling fast. There was a car accident whilst we were there and we truly dreaded going out and coming back in.
I appreciate this is not the fault of the campsites but for positioning it is the worse one I have ever seen, the campsite must have been built before the dual carriageway was.
On the campsite, it is nicely laid out with spaces between yours and other peoples pitches clearly marked out. We were in pitch 2 which was grass and electric for a tent.
The spot was fine being surrounded by trees which gave a good amount of shade in hot weather, but the biggest disappointment was that plot 1, 2 and 3 were right adjacent to the entrance to the park.
This meant that people pull up, leave their engines running, speak on the intercom, wait for the barrier to be lifted, then drive on to pebbles which make a noise, any time of day or night!
Once the vehicle has left the pebbles and drive on to the tarmac the noise stops. We had been told because of Covid we didn't have choice over we plot we had so knew we had to have what was given to us.
I mentioned this on the last day and was told that they hadn't had this issue before, but looking back through reviews, other people had indeed made comment to this. I was also told that they didn't want it to look like a car park and whilst I understand what they are saying, an area so close to plots could have easily taken more tarmac and not looked out of place.
It was also mentioned that if was local shingle and had recently been laid down and would settle, but I have seen shingle on other peoples drives and it never does! I do truly feel the pebble/tarmac balance has been misjudged. This truly spoilt our stay.
On Plot 2 is also near the recycling section and you hear the bar emptying the bottles out (which of course they have to do) but this makes an awful racket because they must be emptying loads at once, just getting engrossed in a book you are shaken out of it by the clatter of bottles falling on to one another.
The shower/toilets were quite a disappointment in that the sink area was pleasant but the floors looked like they had something down on the floor but then covered in some grey coating which looked a different colour at the edges.
It sort of looked like a dark concrete effect. Similarly with tiles on the wall, they had been painted over. It was as if some improvements had been done but it was a mish mash of quality, designs and looks and ultimately results.
The shower heads were not very good and repeatedly having to press the button for water was a pain. The water was always hot and there was always toilet paper but it all just felt functional rather than a good/nice shower experience. There was also 1 washer and 1 dryer which for that many plots was not enough.
The food vans that come are very good, good quality food and a good variety of food. All tasted good and decent sized portions. We did buy some items from the shop as the bread cobs and sliced bread were really nice, best I have tasted, a little bit more expensive but you do expect to pay on holiday.
The drinks machine is handy on your last day when you have packed up and want a hot drink, and the dorset tea makes a lovely cuppa.
I am sorry I cannot give you more stars, I think you have a lovely site with a lot of potential, with more consideration to details needed, but the pebble noise issue really needs addressing because it really did spoil our stay.

Very friendly welcome and comprehensive information package. Very nicely laid out with roomy pitches.
Lovely walks around woods and lakes but sadly the weather was horrendous so couldn’t benefit from other services - ie bar, pitch & putt, fishing and takeaways - although did have an excellent takeaway pizza.
Didn’t use showers and toilets due to COVID restrictions but they looked very modern and clean.
We would definitely recommend this site and the Woodman Pub was within easy walking distance (20mins).
Thanks to all the team for two peaceful nights (despite the rain!). If you want a quiet few days then this is ideal.
I would think a car would be useful for exploring the area which is not easy in a motorhome.

Loved it. Booked at last minute by phone. Nice folk who were attentive and friendly.
Quiet site, adults only if that’s your thing, good night sky, fire pits seemed to be encouraged. Was just passing through but will be back.
I thought shower block was clean, spacious and well organised.

Great site that is handling the Covid-19 crisis very well. We have stayed at the site previously (last time 3 years ago) and were happy that the staff would keep everyone safe and we weren't disappointed.
There have been lots of improvements since our last visit and they have made an already good site even better. A first for us was having a pitch with artificial grass and we really liked it. We have sometimes camped on hard-standings at other sites and weren't over keen, preferring grass pitches. But the artificial grass was an excellent and comfortable base, just remember to take some rock pegs with you.
The toilet blocks were always immaculate, a very important point for us tenters with no other options. The whole site was beautifully cared for and as well as the area with the pitches there are two lakes and a wooded area to explore.
The shop/reception area is well stocked with the essential food items and also some camping and caravan spare parts. There was even a 'pop-up bar' that opened for a couple of hours most evenings and visiting vendors supplied either fish & chips, burgers, paella, or pizza nearly every evening.
There is free wifi but (as explained on the website) the signal is best close to either the shop or the toilet block.
The location is ideal for visiting the New Forest and the coast at Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Swanage etc.
The owners and other staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful and added to the great experience we had.
