As a seasonal user at this site, we were well impressed at the enhancements made by the new owners. Fresh flowers in the loos, the heating on in the loos. Lovely patio furniture outside reception and an all together very warm welcome given to us on arrival. We have loved this site for many years now and could never understand the negative comments made by some visitors. The new people in charge will only add to the charm and beauty of this unique site. So looking forward to the new season and the opportunity of visiting the many delights of this area. The only fault we can make is that we have to leave to travel back home. Our two terriers adore this place and always know when the long drive from Derbyshire is over and we make the turn to go down the lane.

Just back from first visit of the year to Back of Beyond. We have our caravan sited there permanently, visiting the park frequently between 1 March and 31 October. This is our second year so we have met Mel & Sue, the previous owners. Each month we stayed at the park last year - what a great summer! - there was nothing to fault and we enjoyed our visits with our 2 Westies.
New owners, Martin & Victoria have been in residence just 3 weeks and are a great couple, with lots of ideas for the future. They have been working very hard and we look forward to the improvements. They are a really friendly and receptive couple, ready to listen and welcome sensible suggestions.
We wish them every success in the fruition of their ideas and hard work.
We can't wait to return to our caravan in a few weeks to meet all at the caravan park again. Let's hope for a repeat of last year's weather from now till the end of October!

Generally good flat pitches in a very regimented manner. Hook up points very easy and only 4 per stanchion and a very clean well kept site.
The sanitary blocks were OKish, large toilets and showers but not many of them. It would seem that there was an expectation that campers would use their own facilities.
The approach road is a a bit dilapidated but has many passing places.
In Ferndown, about 1 mile down the road is a Lidl, MacDonald's and a large Sainsbury which also has cheap petrol.
If you are staying there it is worth going to the National Trust site at Kingston Lacey, or wandering around the New Forest.
As a newcomer to caravanning and peak season camping in the UK, the price of £28 per night does seem high.

We stayed here again and brought a few friends with us. Overall the site is still just as tidy and clean as it was on our first stay the year before. The owners Mel and Sue are a nice friendly couple. They even sectioned off a part so our 3 tents were all together. It's a shame we had a day of rain but hey ho, you can't have sunshine all the time right?
As for the person deducting stars on there review. Are you for real? You deduct stars because no one wanted to talk to you or because of the traffic, etc? Quite laughable.

Just returned from a weekend break which we thoroughly enjoyed, nice to visit a 'child free' camp site, peace and quiet! Mel & Sue the owners were more than happy to help with any questions we had.
Showers were nice & powerful. Shop had the basics you need. Great to have papers & fresh bread available to order.
The Woodman pub is in walking distance too though would skip the food next time.
Only negative on site, they could have better signs to find the camp site especially on the other side of the main road as there wasn't one - eventually we found one sign under an overgrown tree!
Will definitely visit again as ran out of time for a game of pitch & putt and a visit to the lake!

This is a lovely campsite with excellent facilities in a beautiful setting.
The toilet blocks and washing up areas were more than adequate for the number of campers and they were kept immaculately clean. The dog walking area was also lovely with plenty of space to explore and run about. We didn't try out the local pubs but there are a couple (on the busy main road) about half a mile from the camping area. The site is very well connected by road and perfectly situated for exploring the New Forest and beautiful South Coast.
We did not find the owners to be particularly friendly or welcoming. I was not happy with the manner in which he spoke to us on arrival and there was a dispute over us allegedly having to pay to freeze ice-blocks, despite it not being mentioned on the website. I suggested that instead of administering a charge per ice-block, (which would have cost a lot given the incredibly high temperatures we were experiencing that weekend) they instead request a voluntary donation. This works very well at other campsites where owners often report raising more money than they would otherwise and tt would maintain friendly relations with guests.

This site was lovely. A shop with basic goods in it (always forget something!) and where you could pre-order morning papers and bread each day. Plus there was a small selection of books to read. All facilities were kept immaculate (and never seemed to be closed) with a special disabled block with a ramp. Our second day there was the hottest day for six years, but we didn't even notice as we had chosen to take our chairs down to the small fishing lake and find some shade there. We sat watching the butterflies, ducks and dragonflies, and were even visited by two deer. Access was down a road which was single file in some places, but did not prove to be a problem as all drivers were aware. The owners never seemed to shut up shop at all and were always willing to help.

Just visited back of beyond. We were disappointed with this site as it was listed as one of the top tranquil adult only sites. We must say we we agree with the review by ratbag. We didn't feel we were welcome by wardens or other guests staying on site. The toilet block was rather tired and was not particularly clean. Dust laid on the hand wash containers and hand drier in the ladies block all week and one hand wash was empty for three days. Fishing wasn't good and the lake needs work doing and restocking. We will not be returning.

The good points:
It was very quiet at night.
The pitches were large and flat.
There was fishing and pitch and putt on site.
Comprehensive kitchen and laundry facilities.
The bad points:
This site had a lot of empty residential units which were untidy and gave the site a 'trailer park' feel (minus one star).
The residents who were there appeared to glare at 'visitors' - there were no 'good mornings' for strangers on this site (minus one star).
The owners were unhelpful (minus one star).
The facilities were acceptable albeit a bit on the grotty side with poorly designed showers and were not cleaned regularly. There was also a queue for the showers (minus one star).
Not necessarily the sites fault, but the roads in this area are awful (especially A31) we spent hours in traffic jams when trying to sight-see (minus one star).
Given all the points above, it was expensive (minus one star).

Stayed here for 3 nights which was long enough.
Have to agree with reviewer rat-bag, far too many residential vans, have to squeeze in between them to get a space, toilets block and showers cleaned early morning and that was it, no top ups of toilet rolls etc.
Too expensive also, didn't like the way tents and caravans were pitched together. We wont be returning
