July 2004 We went on holiday to this site for 2 wks, and we really enjoyed it, slight problem with noise after 11pm but apart from that, excellent. Will be going back again next year, and looking forward to it.I have never seen any children doing number 2s in the streams either.

June 2005 This was our first camping trip together. Our first choice site was full so we ended up here.
First impressions when entering the site was that it was bit scruffy and the beautiful surroundings were hidden by the trees.
Unlike others who have posted reviews on this site, there was plenty of room for us to pitch. On the downside, the rules regarding no open fires and no noise after 11pm were not adhered to. We were kept awake until 3am due to many drunken, inconsiderate campers.
On the plus side it is conveniently located for Coniston and there are some picturesque walks close by.
The shower and toilet facilities were basic but clean.
This camp site is ideal if you want to party and drink until the early hours with little consideration for other campers. However, if you prefer peace and quiet then stay well away!

May 2005 Due to the glorious weather this week I went to Coniston on impulse with my son and his friend and Dad. We found site by chance, found a nice spot at end of the site away from the busy parts. I am not a seasoned camper but I really enjoyed staying here. The toilets were spotless, a handy little shop which stocked a wide variety of food and camping consumables and everyone was enjoying the weather. Lovely location not too far from Coniston, I would definitely come again.

May 2005 Visited may bank holiday, very very busy site but lots of space so no problem finding a pitch really. Toilets and showers are good but depending on where you camp you may wish to drive to them. Generally a really nice back to nature feel to the site, would go again but maybe when its a bit quieter

June 2004 I have had the pleasure of visiting this campsite many times, and have laways found it enjoyable. I think that some people who have left reviews may expect too much - after all, camping is supposed to be 'roughing it', otherwise it would be called 'stopping in a hotel'. I have found that picking a spot that isn't in a dip (as everyone knows) is free from flooding, so I have never experienced this problem here. The site is large, with good tracks for cars so they don't get stuck in mud.
There is always plenty of hot water for washing up at all hours of the day. 50p for the showers is fair, and lasts so long as you can bear a few seconds without it on while rubbing in shampoo etc. The showers are always exceptionally clean, but you may need to take a pack of tissues with you to the loo during busy times for loo roll. THe owners are friendly, have a well-stocked shop with a service for freezing cool blocks for you for your next days picnic etc.
Located next to the shore, and with the benefit of trees giving some wind protection, it is an ideal spot, with some lovely views just a few minutes along the path to the south, and the village a couple of minutes to the north. If you arrive late, there is a cheap and tasty takeaway located close to the campsite, near the riding stables / posh restaurant.
Only disadvantage to the site is that it can ruin a good few tent pegs due to being so rocky, and an inflatable mattress is a justified luxury in order to really enjoy the site.

August 2004 Spent two weeks camping in the lakes, visited campsites in Hawkshead, Coniston and Keswick and this campsite was easily the best we stayed on. Reasonably priced and covers a huge area so the claustrophobic will enjoy this site. Stones throw away from the very beautiful lake, showers and toilets good and clean, good little shop on site selling everything you could wish for, very friendly and helpful owners. Coniston village is perfectly situated for walks up the old man (breathtaking)! and has superb pubs for food and real ale (Black bull highly recommended). I would recommend this site to anyone as long as they are not bothered about a strict curfew. I am very much looking forward to visiting again soon.

August 2004 This was my second visit to this excellent campsite, and I hope to go again this year sometime! The campsite was a good size (a field) and in spitting distance of the lake. My friend and I found a good old spot where no other tents were about. If you want a quiet camping trip and for people to follow the rules, I would not recommend this site. However, if you are young, fun and want a good time to chat or whatever, and want a campsite thats quite chilled then this is the campsite for you. Coniston itself is in stumbling distance from the campsite and yes you do need a bag of 50p for the showers, but there are ample amounts of showers and toilets I would say for a campsite, compared to others. There is a little handy shop (which we never used), good walks through by the fields (although be prepared to cross some sheep abusers in the fields)which gets you fit and healthly and to the pub. Very cool site.

October 2004 Just spent 2 nights here. Weather was terrible so any decent views from the campsite were hidden!! We arrived late night... due to us having uni on the Friday afternoon, this didn't seem to be a problem (we phoned ahead) but we then found the gate into the campsite couldn't be opened without a key card. So we had to walk from the entrance to the main campsite (not really a short walk!) to find someone with a key card that we could borrow... a bit of a faff.
We had no problem with the 11pm quiet rule as there was only about 4 other people stupid enough to be camping this late in the year.
Welcoming owner but prices seem extortionate (£4.75 pppn) especially considering it took about 30 mins in the dark trying to find a patch of ground that wasn't flooded.
Showers (6) and toilets (10) clean and hot. Having seen previous reviews I was not expecting them to be up to much but they were pleasant. Showers still 50p for about 4 mins of water but water pressure not too good and I froze to death whilst trying to get changed after.
About a 15 min walk into town on a well marked public footpath.
Overall a good, large, well positioned campsite. Not great value for money. Anyone who has moaned about the washblock facilities needs to see some other lake district 'campsites' out of the towns... i.e. 1 toilet accessed through the farmer's living room!!

August 2004 I couldn't remember what previous reveiws had said about this site so we camped here for 5 nights, I wish I had remembered because we wouldn't have bothered. The site is large and only one toilet and shower block, the rule is no noise after 11pm but this didn't seem to be enforced there were two groups near us who were loud and noisy gone 1am in the morning. At weekends it gets even worse and the tents get squeezed on, I won't be going back again, which is a shame because it is in a glorious location, but I like peace and quiet at night which you don't get here.

August 2004 We visited this site in May a couple of years ago. This year decided to go in August. Very busy when we arrived and not many plots left. Managed to find one with a partial(?) view of the lake just off the road. Be warned. After 2 days of torrential rain we gave up and came home. when we unpitched the tent was sitting in a large pool - no wonder the matress was wet - we wanted a view of the lake - not to be in it! On the other hand, when we arrived the sun was shining! Drove to the toilet block to do the washing up! Some of the toilets had no toilet paper holders, let alone toilet paper!!!
