Great site for Walking/watersport/cycling, pitch at the far end and your a stones throw from the water. Farmer and family are friendly and helpful. Theres plenty of room but it fills up fast at weekends ect, so get there early for the best pitches.
The shop on site opens 8am/8pm and has all the bits you forgot. Coniston village is a 10min walk away down a stone track across the fields. Showers/toilets were ok and clean and the mobile cafe serves bacon egg sausage tea and coffee ect.
It was a busy site when we were there but we enjoyed it and will be going back again this year.

Saw a sign for this during my cycling tour of the lakes and decided to stay. It's a full working farm, sheep everywhere so watch out where you tread etc! haha. The hosts are lovely, met the farmer, his wife and daughter; very friendly and helpful.
Well stocked shop with good hours (8am-8pm), camping field about 400 yards away from shop/reception which is fine. The camping field is massive, it's more like a huge common actually. Access to the lake via a few paths, with a huge log and large boulders to sit on while you take in the scenery of the lake.
Toilet/shower block on site just a short walk away. Showers are 50p but last a good 6-7mins, wait for it to warm up but once it has temp was perfect.
Saw farmers daughter trying to herd sheep which was entertainment in itself. Oh and they charge your mobiles etc at a cost of 50p! which was great. Coniston a short walk away up a long driveway so you are near enough to visit pubs, boats, old man of coniston. Loved it so much I made a detour to stay again on way home!

We found this site by chance, just driving past and saw a sign. What a great 'rural ' site, plenty of space, looking one way you had the mountains, then the other way, the lakes. What more could you ask for. Didn't use the toilet block as it was to far away, .
It was a friday we were there, and by 21. 00hrs, loads of canoeists had arrived, but in the morning to our surprise, dozen more had turned up and pitched tents in the middle of the night. With no regard to the '18 foot distance rule'.
Glad we were there for one night and not the whole weekend. But I can see why it is a very very popular site for the outdoor type. Having said all of this, if we were back up the lakes, we would definitely stop over for a night or two, but only midweek.

Like others have mentioned. This site can get VERY busy with young children/young adults at weekends or school holidays which can spoil the otherwise quiet surroundings. This said if you stay not in peak and choose your pitch wisely it's a great site. Lovely Lakeland walk to Coniston. Pitches run parallel to the lake and there's loads of chose of where you can pitch.
Reasonably priced but disappointed that hot water is extra.
Tiny shop on site with milk, chocos, sandwiches and other handy things but with Coniston only a few mins walk with ESSO garage and spar it's not needed
Would definitely stay again if visiting Coniston.

Note firstly that the HUGE tent field does NOT run along the shoreline. You are separated by a long strip of field with trees and shrubs almost completely obscuring the lake in summer. The minimum distance to the lake is about thirty metres. However, plenty of tracks allow access for walking or launching small boats.
Trees almost completely surround the field, so views outside of the field of hills are limited too.
That being said, since the field is vast, with some trees within it to provide shade, we did enjoy this site.
We stayed on the last Monday in June, and found lots of other campers there, but no idiots. We settled down to watching other campers rather than enjoying being at one with nature. Lots of teenagers were setting off or coming back from walking trips with their 'backpacking' backpacks on. Others were being taught how to ride a bicycle or were playing football.
The toilet block seemed adequate, if a long way away, with hot and cold water, but no soap in the gents.

We have been coming to this camp-site for many, many years on and off, and it has never disappointed.
The location is great, being along the shores of the lake, and it has the fantastic backdrop of the Coniston Old Man fells behind it.
Being away from any roads, there is no noise, other than the usual sounds of the campsite itself. And nature!
The facilities, ie toilet block and shop are quite adequate.
Coniston village is a 15 minute walk away, with all the usual shops, pubs, etc.

A decent site. Large field with the odd side paddock in the trees. Loads of flat spots, but be mindful of rain as there are lots of hollows which look inviting to pitch in but I've seen them very wet on past visits.
£9 for 1 person, is good value for the Lakes. 50p shower. Good hot water but anything it ran too long and I was stood waiting for it to stop. 20p for less time would be better. 4 showers and not have had to queue even when the site was busy.
Coniston is a 15 minute stroll with all the facilities you need.

Just come back from our second visit this summer to Coniston Hall. We came in July and were told you did not need to book and you could also pay by the night which was £23 a night for a family of four plus a £10 deposit for a barrier card. We stayed on the main field which was right near the lake and close enough to the toilet and washing up block. We have just been for the bank holiday where we got quite a different reception and had to pay up front for all 3 nights even though not everyone was staying for 3 nights. We were also told that if anyone came up on the Saturday they would not be allowed on which wasn't true because there were lots of people arriving on the Saturday. We also got sent to the over spill field which actually worked out really good because we were right at the back and had it all to ourselves there were 6 families so it was great! The toilets and showers on the main field are fine not luxurious by any means but hot water and 50p for a shower which lasts long enough to do what you need and a bit more! You do need to be good at balancing though because they are cubicles and there is no dry area to stand on! The toilets in the overspill were not nice the lights didn't work and there was only cold water so we had to drive to the main block to wash up!
It also says no campfires but every other tent had them going you just need to use your barbecue or take a small fire pit!
The campsite is a great location for the village and from the entrance it is about a 15-20min walk which is fairly flat and very safe if you have children because the footpath is through a field.
The village itself has three nice pubs but they are quite pricey it is about £4 for a pint in all of them! The pub food is also quite expensive! There are also a couple of pubs around the edge of the village! There are a couple of cafes, a chippy and a takeaway that you can get pizza's or pasta from if you are fed up cooking at the camp!
There are some nice walks around the old man and the lake is great for the kids to paddle in. We bought dinghy's as well just need to not go to far out and obviously not without an adult! The campsite was really busy at the weekend last time and very busy this time but we were with quite a few families both times. I don't think we were too noisy but if you want somewhere quiet it is probably not for you! We will definitely be going back Coniston is beautiful and the campsite is in a great location!

A beautifully located site, crowded but we didn't find the noise level unbearable and we camped very close to the water.
The showers were fairly decent, with 50p providing enough hot water for a full shower and hair wash. No soap dispensers though so bring hand wash. There are plugs in the ladies so you can dry hair, charge phone etc if needs be.
The ground can be hard, but not terrible. 32 quid for two nights for two adults, a nice site that I would return to.

The site is in an excellent location by the lake and only a short walk to Coniston village.
There is plenty of space for tents but it can get busy at weekends and the best spots go quickly. If very wet then a few areas do get flooded, well very boggy, so try and pick a spot that isn't in a dip.
There is no entertainment facilities or children's play area but plenty of grassy areas for the kids to play ball and explore. It also allows access to the lake for small boats.
The shop is simple, but well stocked and even has sweets for the kids.
The toilet facilities are fairly basic but clean and you need 50p for the showers but we didn't have to queue even when busy. There is a drying area and the washing up area has hot water.
The owners are friendly do a very good job of clearing up rubbish and making sure that bins are emptied daily.
I could see why this camp site gets busy at weekends.
