August 2004 First time camper - will definately be doing it again. Lovely campsite with view of Lake Conniston. Toilets and shower facilities clean and within a reasonable walking distance from where we set up camp. Plenty of hot water. Washing up facilities also good. Take a bag of 50p pieces with you - shops in Conniston a little reluctant to hand them out in change! Would have no hesitation in returning to Conniston Hall.

August 04 After spending a weekend on this campsite, after all the reports it has had, I must say I'm very disappointed. The campsite itself is fine, if its not busting at the seams. I arrived Friday evening and found a nice little spot and had a most enjoyable night. Saturday evening was a different story. The campsite was full to bursting point, people had to un-peg guy ropes to get in or out by car as tents are put in driveways. If you like being close to strangers, don't want your open space and listening to other campers snoring you will love this site. Would go to it again if its not as busy, but the owners need to count numbers going onto the site.

July 2004 We chose this campsite as they said we could book, which we did. On the way we had a puncture and called to say that we would be late, the lady was quite rude and said that it was a free for all campsite and that they didn't take bookings and had better be there soon as they were filling up fast. When we did eventually get there we managed to squeeze in between a couple of other tents it was very busy and there were lots of children.
The facilities were clean and not too far away the showers were 50p. There was a campshop where we managed to get some things we had forgotten. The campsite is right on the lakeside although you can't see it because of the trees but there is a path down and it is really nice. All in all after the first disappointment we really enjoyed ourselves and are planning to go again soon.

June 2004 Just returned from a weekend at Coniston Hall June 2004.
BASICALLY WOULDNT GO BACK!!!! - too noisy lots of idiots let onto the site.
No warden and no respect for the site rule of no noise after 11pm. Noise continued till 3.30am.
Tents pitched virtually on top of each other. Distances between tents less than 6m.
Numerous noisy groups ok if this is what you want.
Clean toilets and showers (50p needed and dont last long)

May/June 2004 I will be visiting again in a couple of weeks as well. Toilet and washing up facilities are good, clean, plentiful and never far away from campers (despite only being one block). 50p for shower - decent amount of time and hot water. Slight queue in the females once it hits about 8am and busier later morning. Plug points available in toilets although there were far too many people with hair straighteners in there! Disturbing. £4pppn and £1.50 per car plus £5 returnable deposit for key card. Gorgeous view of lake after only couple of minutes walk. Overall an entirely pleasant stay.

Various Been here a few times both with friends in a group and as a couple. About a mile away from Coniston village, right on the lake but you can't really see it because of the trees but it's lovely if you walk down to the lake shore. This is a site where everyone fits in. Families go here, couples and groups, it's big enough to spread out but can get busy on certain weekends. Can get noisy at night when people return from the pub but never had any particular problems. Showers arn't up to much seeing as you have to pay extra for them. Overall though a nice site.

September 2003 An extensive site with a single toilet block. Some campers drove to the block because their pitches were some distance away. I found the facilities at the block to be quite satisfactory - showers (50p), washbasins, toilets, washing up area, laundry etc. There was an automatic barrier at the site entrance beyond the office. The warden provides a plastic card with which to lift the barrier. You need to pay a returnable deposit for this card (£5). The office is a room of the farmhouse and is also a shop. The site is by Coniston Water but the lake is screened from view by a belt of trees. A public footpath runs through the site but is on the track and causes no problems. The nearest pub is The Ship Inn which provides meals and takes around 15 minutes to walk to. Breakfast can be obtained in Coniston Village - a 20 minute walk. You can pitch wherever you like, within reason, and leave your car next to your tent. Serious walkers will love the Coniston Fells but there are lots of attractive low level walks as well. There are plenty of attractions in the vicinity of Coniston for those who enjoy pottering about. Phil.

August 2003 I am sorry that I must agree with Miles. The owners of the site are very unwelcoming, verging on rude. This was the second visit, although we did not stay the first time as we had the option of staying somewhere friendlier.

A weekend in August 2003 Lovely campsite, 9/10.
Booking is advisable as the site has been fully booked for the majority of August.
Lots of clean, well kept toilets. Good washing-up sinks etc with free hot water. Showers 50p.
15 min walk from Coniston.
Bit hard to find - entrance is opposite a bus stop - that should help!!
