The location of this site is second to none; direct access to the waters edge and views of The Old Man are great.

And if you're in a large group, want to be noisy and get bladdered all night this is the place for you!

I wouldn't go back here if wild horses dragged me. After being charged almost 25 quid a night we managed to pitch up on some remaining space.

The annoying thing is they charge a lot but just keep letting people in. People were camped up on grass verges and anywhere they could fit a tent.

After fleecing me of 25 quid it was then 50p for a shower. Beware and take spare 50ps they don't always work. The toilet and shower block was clean but dated. One block is probably not enough when its busy.

We have just returned from a one night camp at this site, and I was pleasantly surprised ! it was a last minute decision to stay here due to a different campsite being full. We arrived on Saturday afternoon, to join up with friends who were already camping there for a birthday camp weekend. The site was maybe half full, and on arrival, we were told we could camp wherever, and that was about it.

No riot act was read out to us, and no precise measurements of our tent needed, very relaxed, and a nice change from the more regimental style campsites in the lakes.

The owners seemed nice, and you book in at the little shop. 'little' being the word, but it seemed to have everything you would need.

Cost was £7 per person, per night. Car, £2 per night, and a £5 deposit for a barrier card if you want to put your car next to your tent.

Toilets clean, always had loo roll, we only stayed one night so didn't use showers, other members of our party who arrived on Friday did, and said they were hot, and stayed on for around 5 mins for 50p. Plenty of mirrors in girls toilets, also noticed plug sockets in the girls toilets, so will be taking the straighteners next time !

Didn't venture off site, so don't know about local amenities, but the scenery round the site was beautiful, lovely view of coniston old man and would be a fantastic base to start coniston old man from,as its right there !

As there was a big group of us, it was nice to all be able to camp together. I think this site is ideal for groups who are wanting to have a laugh and a get together, maybe not so suited to couples looking for a quiet break. Many groups were sat outside their tents laughing and chatting, but didn't hear any loud music, and it was a very nice atmosphere all across the campsite. We went to bed at 12am and around half an hour or so later the site was more or less silent.

We will definitely be returning, very good budget site, for a weekend getaway.

 Great site.

We were in the group area which is set away from the main camp site so as not to disturb other people.

The ground is a bit hard in this area but we managed to get the pegs in.

The main site is pretty level and grass covered.

The toilets in the group area are not up to muich, but the main facilities (10 minutes walk from our isolated area) were excellent.

A great base for exploring the area and a reasonable walk into coniston.

I have visited this site several times in the past with my family and friends, beautiful surrounds however this time was awful. The site is not recommended for families in my experience.

Unlike previous visits the site was mainly occupied by large groups of young men and women, impossible to get any sleep at night due to music noise and language.

The owner will kick the groups off in the morning if you report them but every day along came another group to replace them. It was so bad that our group all left early. Site info says no same sex groups and no noise after 11 neither of these rules are upheld. My advice is go elsewhere.

This was our second stay at this campsite but first time in a van. We tend to use this site when turning up on spec because it’s huge! We arrived and were told it was busy but we could go through to the group camping area which was deserted compared to the festival of tents in the main field.

The toilet / washing up facilities were always clean and there was plenty of hot water in the main block. We also used the group toilet block which was basic but did the job!

Coniston village is a twenty minute walk through the fields to plenty of pubs, cafes and a petrol station (gas)

We stayed for two nights relaxing sunbathing and walking around the waters edge.

Access to the site is through an electric barrier which you have to pay a refundable £10 deposit.

Me and my partner arrived Friday dinner and it wasn't that busy so we could choose where ever we wanted to pitch our tent. By Friday evening it was quite full and people were still putting up tents gone half 9.

Its in a beautiful location on a farm next to coniston lake were you are able to fish, canoe etc. The rates are very reasonable. The ground is quite hard and rocky so good strong pegs needed.

The toilets and shower blocks are clean and the showers cost 50p but you do get hot water for about 10 minutes. There is a little village 15 minutes stroll away with everything you might need; cash machine, petrol station, shops, pubs and cafes.

It is the second time we have visited the site and highly recommend it to anyone; couples, groups and family's.

I found the site to be very pleasant, I travelled with a group of 7 friends and as we were all male we were expected to pay to 20 pound deposit each which is understandable

The facilities were fairly clean, better than many sites I have visited

But I felt there should have been warnings about the very swift rise in the depth of the water as this came as quite a shock to me. Overall a very nice site.

Visited as part of a large party. Arrived mid afternoon on the Friday. Check-in is simple with little or no instructions which in some ways I liked as it set you up for a relaxing time! Once through the barrier (£5 deposit for the token) its a free for all finding your spot. At that time of day there was plenty of space left but leave it another couple of hours and you'd be looking at a different picture.

Its location is it's biggest selling point being on the shore of Coniston Water. Its about a 15-20 minute walk into Coniston village which has a few shops and pubs. The shower/toilet block always seemed clean and magically even though the place was packed by Saturday morning never all that busy. We had the same 50p shower related problems as everyone else. They do refund you at the shop but its not the ideal solution when you are standing in your towel!

Because of the relaxed atmosphere it a lively camp at night. In the most part the noise dies down at 11PM and we weren't bothered by anyone beyond then.

In summary its a nice clean camp in a great spot that lets you get on with the business of camping and enjoying yourself. If you get the weather, as we did this weekend, there can be few places better it would seem at the time and we will be back again.

Spent 4 nights at the site, in half term lots of space and we were free to choose where to pitch, managed to get a good spot with views of the lake and old man.

Shower and toilet block is basic but clean and always had toilet roll. Showers cost 50p but you got a good length of time and water was always hot, lost my 50p once so always take a couple in just in case and the owner was quick to give me my money back when I spoke to her.

For the ladies after a bit of home comforts there were plug sockets in the toilet block so if your as attached to your straighteners as I am you will be happy.

We did have a little disturbance on the 1st night which was soon curbed, no other noise problems the rest of our stay and it did quieten down around 11pm.

Location is on the shores of the lake, close to the village with shops and amenities and a few good pubs, highly recommend the food at the black bull, and old man is nearby for those walkers amongst you.

Got quite busy at the end of our stay and did get a little surrounded by some very large family tents but all were positioned a reasonable distance away to give you a bit of space.

I'd recommend this site for everyone and hope to go back myself sometime in the future

Fab location, shower block, only the one, that is up a small hill, hard work when you've been climbing mountains all day, although they are clean and tidy.

Arrived late ish about 6.30-7.00pm was told to camp in main field was not told where the showers/toilets were. Showers cost 50p if your quick that's ok but you might need an extra for a reasonable soak. No soap or hand drying facilities in the toilets so take your own!

Everyone abided by the rules and the whole campsite became a lot quieter around 11pm. Not a problem for us.

Ideal location for exploring, Ambleside, Windemere and Grasmere all within driving distance. Coniston village 10-15 min walk. Nice pub food although expensive £15 for a main course.

Site shop is not browsable and you have to ask for items needed, including milk.

All in all I look forward to going back soon, although I hear it may become very boggy when it rains, we had 5 days of sunshine so can not comment on that, the ground was perfect.

Would recommend it to families and hikers. Everything within reasonable distance
