This is the second time we have stayed and the site has improved on its very good standards last year. The bathroom facilities are clean and adequate for the number of pitches, the landscaping is attractive and the site is well maintained. The owners live on site so there is always help on hand if you need it.
The site is well located in the Hope Valley, with nice walking from the site. The train to Sheffield or Manchester can be caught from a station only 5 mins away.
All in all, good value for money.

What a lovely site this is. The facilities are clean, modern and very well cared for. The site itself is maintained to a high standard. I was sat outside in the evening looking at the backdrop of green hills. There is a busy road and a trainline but the noise was never an issue. We had Ducks outside the unit and loads of different birds. There are buses within yards of the entrance and a train station just over the road that takes you to Sheffield or Manchester. The couple who run this site are lovely, helpful, chatty and obviously love the place.
The only thing that will stop me from coming back in the near future is the No dogs rule. Had a great weekend even without our lovely dog.

An Oasis.
This is a lovely little family run site.
On arrival its very clear the effort Graham and Pam have put in to make it special; hard standings with patios if required, flower beds, neatly cut grass, decorative walls, fences and spotless modern toilet and shower facilities.
They also make you feel welcome and give good advice.
The site is an excellent location for walkers its right by the Derwent river, a 10 min walk to the beautiful Bamford Mill, about 30 mins to Ladybower Reservoir and a short car journey for walks to Stannage Edge and Mam Tor. Its also about 30 mins by car to the Monsal Trail for walking or cycling
There is a 24hr shop closeby and more shops in nearby Bamford, Castleton or Hathersage.
You can keep on top of things with the free WiFi
We would certainly return to this site when next in the area

We stayed here during the summer holidays as a family of 2 adults and 2 young kids.
It's a lovely campsite. Very clean, with excellent facilities and friendly owners who had plenty of info on local walks and attractions. The ducks from the adjacent river Derwent are also very friendly!
We didn't use electric hook up but may do in the future.
The trains weren't a bother - our girls loved watching them go past, and the road wasn't noisy, even from the other side of the hedge. We used the nearby station to pop to Sheffield too.
There is a local kids playground just up the road and a 24 hour garage in the other direction.
It was an excellent base for exploring the Peaks and we'll definitely return once it warms up a bit, especially as we now live only half an hour away (Derbyshire instead of Surrey).

Had 2 nights on this site and the sun was shining, walked up the hill to Bamford but not much to see, trains at the back of the site noisy and frequent so used earplugs at night, spotless toilets/shower but up quite a few wobbly steps, grass and the site very neat and tidy, recycle bins near entrance, caught bus into Castleton and train station about 5-10 mins walk from site to go to Edale, lovely lady host and lots of info leaflets, site backs onto the river but not in view from the pitches, lots of friendly ducks, there is a local play area with swings/slides a few mins from the site but it's not signed posted, would return again for the odd night or 2

3 nights camping at Swallowholme campsite May Day weekend. Very friendly welcome on arrival given pitch options also given a copy of sites rules and an information sheet giving a quick summary of the area including place's to vist distance to travel.
Camping area quiet flat with a number of seats and benches on campaign area. The toilet and shower block is very well kept and fitted out to a good standard. Had 2 nights in the Anglers Pup good food and beers. The site is an ideal location I spent 3 days hiking in the surrounding areas with a train station on the doorstep. I will use the site aging when I next visit Hope Valley.

Just spent a great week at Swallowholme camping and caravan site. The site has both seasonal pitches and touring pitches with a section for tents as well. On arrival I was shown to my pitch which was nice and level. The toilet shower block was clean and warm.
You are very close to Bamford station, and the trains can be a little bit annoying but nothing major. It does mean you have very good transport links around the Peak District.
Up the road you have the Anglers Rest which is a pub, cafe and post office. I had a very nice meal and a few very nice pints, and would recommend it.
If I had to find fault with the site I would say that the driveway into the site is a bit rough and could do with resurfacing.
It's the second time I've been there and would certainly go again!
I don't have children so can't comment on child friendliness.

A nice little site well located for walking in the Peaks and for local amenities.
The staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival and throughout our stay and the facilities were spotlessly clean. The design of the showers was somewhat challenging, as they were designed so that the water drained outside of the cubicle, meaning that the changing area got very wet and it was necessary to really think hard about how you stored your clothes while you were showering to avoid soaking them. Other than this, the shower blocks and washing up area were well designed with nice touches like the provision of washing up liquid and a coin operated hair drier.
There is a 24 hour shop just round the corner and the nearby train station and bus stop give easy access to other parts of the Peaks and even to Manchester and Sheffield. The site is in the shadow of the train line and next to a road, but I have to say that I did not find the noise intrusive at all.
You can walk from the site to Ladybower dam and travel around the Peaks for some other stunning walks. The owners even gave us some maps detailing nice walks nearby and the scenery was stunning.
We would certainly return.

We arrived on the day of Bamford fete to drive through the village with everyone lining the streets, a great start to the visit! (I am not sure they will do the same every time we visit) The campsite owner was out of the office at the fete, but had left a message on the door with her contact details, and was back at the campsite just minutes after being called. She was very welcoming and showed us to our pitch. We were pitched on one of the sites that allowed us to park our car alongside the tent, which had been pre-arranged and was very welcomed. (The other pitches without the availability of parking alongside are only seconds walking distance from the main car park, so it would not have been a large inconvenience) The park is quite small, there are no facilities for younger children, but it is perfect for a quiet get away. The park is kept immaculate, as are the washrooms, which is always a big plus for me. I asked to borrow an iron and ironing board during the visit and it was provided with no problem, for which I was very grateful. The trains were no problem at all, once my head was down in the evening I didn't hear them. The ducks are incredibly friendly and we frequently had several sleeping around us, an unexpected treat. We chose this campsite due to its proximity to Sheffield, and although it is a little further out that I had first thought, it is very well situated, and worth an extra few minutes drive. The campsite is surrounded with pubs, from one within walking distance to several within an easy ten minute drive. I ate at several of them and was never disappointed with the food. I highly recommend this campsite, and will not hessitate to return.

What a good campsite! It's in a lovely location, just outside Bamford with a bus stop outside and a railway station more or less opposite. This means you can easily get to Sheffield in one direction and lovely Peak District villages in the other
There are some good walks from the site or just a train/car/bus ride away.
The local pub, The Angler's Rest is highly recommended by us. Some tasty seafood and a litre of Pimms was just right for a long sunny lunch.
The site is small and friendly. We were a bit concerned about noisy neighbours at first but had no reason to worry - people had fun but quietly and respectfully!
The toilets were clean although the steps up to them were a bit wobbly so I'm glad I wasn't doddery or they could've been tricky.
There seem to be a lot of caravans on permanent pitches (not statics tho) so not many touring spaces unfortunately but we'll def be returning if we can be squeezed in!
