This is a lovely quiet site - there seemed to be mainly regular guests with caravans with a few tents. Nice toilet block and showers included - staff bungalow on site, clean facilities, very quiet, nice area with local recreation ground, right next to the train station at bamford, near sheffield and edale. Easy to find and there are two local pubs.

What a fab site, clean and tidy and lovely clean.
Shower block and toilet cleaned everyday by wardens, hand towel on a roll, liquid soap etc. Bit of noise from road and trains to be expected. Friendly welcome, no dogs, very few children, no teenage groups at all.
The perfect place to chill out and relax. Fantastic natural surroundings and wildlife, 2 minute walk to shops and garden cerntre, 5 min walk up the beautifull village to a choice of pubs and good food.

2 minute walk round to the recreation ground with childrens play area.

2 minutes from train station and bus stops
Local buses to take you all round the valley .

Short drive or 30minute walk up to Ladybower for tranquil scenery and further on to derwent valley with its breathtaking views.

On the whole one of the best kept sites I have seen in ages . THANKYOU !

The site is absolutely fine, basic amenities, but you get what you pay for, and its a good economy price.

The trains are loud, but not too bad, and the noise is brief and infrequent. Toilets & showers were basic & very clean.

I went walking around Ladybower Reservoir and it was ideally sited for that. Site is next to a a good pub - good food - within staggering distance!

The major problem when I was there was a group of 4-6 youths from Sheffield decided to have an all night party on site, and the site didn't appear to be monitored by the owner - a perfectly nice chap - at any time. There was music and loud talking through to the early hours, and despite there being a number of families with small children, who were prevented from sleeping - the foul language throughout the night spoilt what would otherwise have been a pleasant stay. It was only after 7 or 8 people had pleaded and finally threatened them with violence that they eventually quietened down.

Take my tip if you have young kids and/or want a good night's sleep, get there early and camp near to the entrance, the oiks camp nearer the rear of the site!

 September 2005
We have just stayed at this site for a week and found it very noisy, both from the railway as well as the road.
Toilets / showers were extremely basic, no soap, paper towels or hand driers, no bins or brushes in the toilets, no mops for showers and curtains only on 2 of the 3 showers. They also could have been cleaned more frequently,we were only aware of them being cleaned 3 times during the week we were there.
For the price we were charged we could have stayed at a full-facility Caravan Club Site.
Most of the pitches are taken by regulars who leave their vans there all season and only visit occasionally at weekends. We spent 4 days not seeing a soul. We would not recommend this site to touring holidaymakers even though it is well located for many attractions, walks etc.

Nice clean and tidy site, near railway so can be a little noisy. Toilet, shower facilities very basic but clean.
Very handy for shortstays near Ladybower Resivoir and some great pubs within walking distance.
Friendly owner, does not rush you off the site on the day of departure.
Level surface, ideal for tents, vans and awnings alike.
Have fun, this one is fine....
