Absolutely loved this campsite from moment we checked in to checking out. Owners are very friendly and accommodating.
The site itself is kept in excellent working order.
Very beautiful area, great for walking, going to local pub Angler's Rest,
The Bird Cafe is a short walk away too amongst other options that we didn't have time to experience all of but will be back.
The showers are great, hot water for the win! And decent pressure. The bathrooms are kept very clean. There is also a small communal sink area to clean your dishes with two sinks.
It is close to the train station too which is great if you want to travel about a bit, without having to take the car.
Loved Swallowholme camping, thank you for the great experience.
Highly recommend.

Great, shown to pitch on arrival.
Clean and tidy site, toilets and showers very clean and fabulous club house with live entertainment, that was a bonus.
Food served on site and drinks reasonably priced. Fob for toilet block and barrier.
10 minute walk to beach and supermarket close to site.
Bus passes at the site entrance into the town.
Peaceful atmosphere on site and static owners very friendly.

The site owner was charming and showed us to our pitch.
The site is very tidy despite ongoing improvements to accommodate future mobile homes.
Free fly fishing on the River Derwent within 15m of our pitch.
Facilities were exceptionally clean.
Would recommend to others.

Just a few tourers but retains that tourer-community feel.
Small numbers on days we were there,
But super friendly and beautifully kept and appointed.

Lovely little site with immaculate facilities, beautiful landscaping & very helpful owners.
Well situated in terms of walks from the door, bus & train connections to more prime walking locations.
The community pub/ post office/ cafe is a gem & worth supporting.
The only drawback to Swallowholme is the number of trains using the line which runs right next to the site. OK during waking hours (though not ideal) but there are several freight trains throughout the night & for some unaccountable reason they find it necessary to use an American-style hooter even though they must be the only thing on the line so one of us who is a light sleeper had very disrupted nights.
This is the only reason we haven’t given Swallowholme full marks all round & might hesitate to revisit.

A nice lady accepted us,
We don't mind the noises of the trains in the daytime,
It's quiet in the night,
The best camping site for visiting Bamford Edge.

We stayed here for 4 nights in May and had a thoroughly good time despite the weather being poor.
The owners were friendly without being intrusive, the pitches were a good size and the toilet and shower block were the cleanest I've ever seen (the radio playing when walking in was a nice touch).
The location is a walkers paradise, my wife and I walked up to the stunning bamford edge one day and had a glorious stroll along the river to Hathersage.
We made use of the train station opposite to get back to the site after walking up kinder scout one day.
There is a comunitee run pub in the village but like many places they weren't doing food while we were there due to staff shortages.
A well stocked 24 hour shop/petrol station is a 5 minute walk away.
There is noise from the nearby railway which didn't bother me and the only slight negative were the push button showers that had no temperature control and only lasted 5 seconds each push.
All in all a great site and will definitely return.

We were greeted very warmly and given a choice of pitches.
The facilities and area was excellent.
Yes without a doubt you cannot ignore the many trains but this definitely does not detract from the lovely site.
Very good facilities, nice quiet site.
Thank you very much, definitely will return.
