Stayed for four nights at the start of half term. Had a hard standing, which was good as it rained cats and dogs for the whole stay. Great showers and loos, they were empty every time I went in, piping hot water. The site was full for vans but only a few tents dotted about. The facilities looked big enough for when it was busier. Good shop and cafe on site. Ideal for Keswick. Also drove to Buttermere to walk around the lake. Prices were reasonable for just the van, gets quite pricey with add ons. Ate out at the Middle Rudding Country Inn and had a lovely meal. Great selection of beer, dog friendly and staff were too! Will definitely stay here again.

I have just returned from a 4 night stay with the dog.

Scotgate is set in a wonderful location in the middle of the fells with a selection of fantastic walks direct from the site including the Coledale Horseshoe. A Small river runs along the back of the campsite - which you can follow for about 1. 5 miles and is lovely evening stretch of the legs.

You could pitch your tent where you liked and tent pitches were flat and whilst it never rained during my stay - I would say the ground was well drained.

Site was quiet whilst I was there and fellow campers extremely friendly - although I could see this site being busy in the the height of summer.

Toilets were modern and clean and Showers were lovely and hot.

Shop on-site which opens at 7am until 8pm (I think!) and had all your basics. Just 5 minutes away there is the local store - lovely freshly made filled rolls for lunch on the fells. There are also numerous pubs in the village just a short walk away. Keswick and all its amenities is around 5 minutes in the car and only 2. 5 miles - so could also be easily walked.

I was £14. 75 each night for myself, tent, car and of course the dog - which I thought was reasonable for a stay in the lakes.

Fantastic campsite, in an excellent location with fantastic facilities. Would I return - Absolutely!

Just returned from a 3 day stay at his site. Location is excellent with views of the fells in every direction. Toilets and showers very good and shop and café on site very useful. The tenting area is in the middle of the site with motorhomes and touring caravans around the edge on hardstandng pitches.

There is a general store in the village along with two pubs and a country inn and restaurant. Tried all three for a drink and had a meal at the Coledale which has a very nice beer garden and has no dog restrictions in the public bar.

You are only 3 miles from Keswick 10 minutes in the car. If you want to stay in Keswick all day would recommend parking at the Pencil Museum as its £4 for all day whereas some of the other car parks charge by the hour.

The only downside to this site is the traffic noise from the road at the side of the site which appears to lead onto other destinations in the Lakes such as Buttermere and the Whinlatter Pass as well as the distant hum from the A66.

It isn't a particularly cheap site and if you want to take an awning or have children the price really starts to rise.

Having said that we would definitely stay again because of the location and the cleanliness of the toilet facilities.

1st time camping and had spotted this site years ago on my travels. Choose as has a couple of plug sockets in laundry so I could use my hair straighteners. Also in Landry dryer and washer. Next to this great pot wash clean and hot water, large area. Next toilets / shower block ultra clean, very large, lovely individual spacious shower rooms with shelf, hooks and doors that lock. Hand wash + loo roll all provided. Site very flat, pitch were you like. Also has cafe, pricey but nice quality, well stocked shop but again pricey as you would expect. I paid 14. 75 a night for me tent and dog which I think was good value given location and amenities. Like they reduce for solo camper. Soo many seem to charge for 2 minimum.

Lovely walks straight from site, too many to mention but Braithwaite has a great site with all details if you Google.

Great shop in village, much cheaper hot drinks if you don't mind 2 min walk.

Royal oak in village is virtually next I have eaten before and is nice but no dogs when serving food ( although you can ofcourse sit outside) for totally dog friendly coledale inn super 3 minutes walk away.

I will be back

First, the directions to the site. Pay at Scotgate Park Campsite (200 metres on the first road into Braithwaite, on the left). We paid the high season rate of £21. 30 for two people, a tent, and a car. Then return to the A66 and turn Right towards Keswick, then immediately left. 100 metres on the left is the entrance.

We looked at Scotgate Park Campsite first, saw too many tents close together, and then drove to this one. In our large (second) field, there were only three other tents and two camper vans on our Monday night in July. The field was flat, recently cut, with large trees bordering it. The trees did block out most of the views, but the shade was welcome in the sweltering heat. We pitched in the shade with a fine view of the upper part of Skiddaw. There was barely noticeable noise from the A66.

The toilet block was very clean and tiled throughout, with plenty of toilets and handbasins, and three luxury mens showers (save for (better than average) push button operation). My woman was very happy with hers, too. The enclosed pan wash had two sinks and was almost as clean.

We would highly recommend this site unless you're on a budget.

We spent two nights at this site. We used it as a base to visit the Keswick Beer Festival. We had plenty choice where to pitch as it was very quiet when we arrived. The site didn't really get that much busier apart from hill walkers and a group of students doing DOE. The toilet block was kept clean and the showers were lovely and warm. Again didn't have to queue for either with the site being quiet.

There are no EHU pitches at this site which wasn't a problem for us. For those women that can't bear to be parted from their hair dryer and straighteners, there is a socket in the toilet block but I didn't use it.

The grass was nice and flat and kept cut short. If your looking for a no frills site set in a lovely area then look no further. I would definitely return to this one!

A beautiful site, very flat and sunny! Good toilet with plenty of showers and a decent washing up area. There did seem to be a bit of a blockage or two in the toilets. Site was quiet and spacious with nice views.

Braithwaite is a nice village with a least 3 pubs. Favourite was Middle Riddings with 7 real ciders on, heaven! slightly pricey at £21. 30 in April for 2 people with a car but it is nice and you get what you pay for.

This was my first holiday in a static caravan in over 40 years - and what a pleasant surprise!

I stayed at the site with my partner and her dog.

The site was spacious with beautifully maintained grounds, peaceful and in an idyllic mountain surrounded location. The main road was not far away but did not bother us at all - and we are both use to the peace and quiet of Devon.

The site management/reception were welcoming and helpful.

The caravan (a 4 berth, 2 bedroom affair) was far larger than we anticipated, was very well equipped, and spotlessly clean. , and the caravan heated up quickly and was very cosy. The only negative comment that I would make is that the vacuum cleaner and tin opener could both do with replacing!

We had anticipated that the coin in the slot electricity meter would gobble our money. Not in the least. £5 lasted all week.

We did not use the camps other facilities much but can vouch that the toilet block was very clean, the shop was well stocked with essentials and the cafe looked very inviting.

This is the first time I have ever posted a second review of one site! Loved it even more than before. The location is stunning, surrounded by beautiful north lakes hills. The reception was as warm as ever and the facilities exactly as they were before; no emptying the chemical disposal down an old toilet behind a bit of wooden fence, a proper stainless steel unit inside and dry. A lovely warm toilet and shower block and a great pub 3-4 minutes walk up the road. Be back soon!

We chose this campsite based on the excellent reviews here on UKCampsite.co.uk as we wanted somewhere lovely to spend a couple of days with our daughter around her 18th birthday (and before she is off to Uni). The site is in a beautiful location with the mountains, and close to a little stream. There's a cafe which is great for cooked breakfasts, a shop for your camping essentials (milk, bread, eggs etc) and an excellent shower / toilet / utilities block - all modern & kept clean (though the ladies would have benefited from another hand drier near the toilets, and a bit more lighting for some of the shower rooms). There are plenty of toilets with 'non contact' flush systems, nice hot 'push button' showers with private changing areas, and a few sinks for doing the washing up. There is also a laundry room. The campsite is close to a pub (its just a short walk away) and its not far to drive to Keswick for a day out, or the Lake District Wildlife park (close by) which is worth a visit. There seems to be plenty of room for tents of all sizes - we took our large Sahara 6 tent with us and its canopy. It was just after the bank holiday so we were just charged the normal rate (not the rate for a big tent which we told them we had). We really enjoyed our break here and would recommend it to anyone wanting a chilled out break in the Lakes.
