What a fabulous site. Easy access into a beautifully laid out site in gorgeous wooded valley. Enormous paved pitch with own picnic table and large grass area overlooking the lake. Great dog walk into the woods (steep!) and well mown paths around site and the beautiful lake. 5 min walk down footpath opposite site entrance takes you to the charming Newberry beach ( dog friendly) and on round into Combe Martin. Great fish & chip shop! Very helpful and friendly wardens who escort you to your pitch.

Definitely a site that we'd love to revisit.

Just returned from a 12-night stay at this lovely campsite. I’d agree with most of the previous comments, apart from if you have a caravan make sure you’re not on Oak 13 pitch! We booked this holiday in January; a premier pitch; which if you take note of previous comments we would have been on a huge pitch with a block paved space for our caravan and car; a stoned area for our awning and a large grass area to sit and relax. Oh No! We ended up on the only premier pitch where we had to park our car around the corner near the barn and only had 2 metres of grass as we had to “share it with the seasonal pitch next door” so although we paid the same amount as Oak 12 (who had all the above and a 5-metre bit of grass) we didn’t have the same space. We only found this out when we were sitting on our ‘bit’ of grass and was told by one of the wardens that “did we know we didn’t have all the grass only 2m of it”! We did go and speak with those in reception, most of whom didn’t realise this was the case. They did offer us the chance to move but the only available pitch wasn’t on hard standing which is what we had wanted. Walking round the site there didn’t appear to be much consistency in the premier pitches only that they offered, water/waste and EHU. The sizes and paved/stoned areas differed from pitch to pitch.

The site was lovely and peaceful, just what we needed. On arrival, you are taken to your pitch. The unisex shower block was good, unfortunately the water pressure was a let-down, although the water was always hot and we didn’t have to queue during our time here. The wardens were always about cleaning/replenishing. They do offer pizza (cooked in a caravan) on Tuesday and Saturday evenings, which although a bit expensive was very nice. The site has a coded barrier entrance/exit. We did use the laundry facilities and at £3 a wash good value for money. There is a hair dryer available which was useful. There is plenty of information on the area and they do offer a book exchange.

The surrounding area is lovely with stunning views and Combe Martin is a lovely village, the Jack of Cards pub does great food including a lovely Sunday carvery, but do book. This area of North Devon is very hilly and coming from the flat fens, we found it a bit of an effort but soon got used to it, so take this into consideration when going to this area. We caught the bus (from the village) into Ilfracombe just over £9 return for 2 adults/1 child once, the service seems very popular.

A beautifully quiet site with excellent and clean facilities. Plenty to do close by whatever the weather. Close to Combe Martin and only a couple of miles from larger supermarket on outskirts of Ilfracombe if needed. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.

Well what a lovely site, It's quite large but the layout is so well planned that wherever your pitched it seems small and private. The pitches are large enough to have the van with awning and a large grass area outside the awning for sunbathing/windbreaks and the car on the other side next to the van as well. Really well kept by the wardens who are only too happy to help. It's set on 3 terraces in a valley so it's an ideal suntrap and very pleasant. A short 5 min walk into the village with a lovely safe cove for swimming, kayaking etc and a beach and shops/ pubs/ cafe's. The site has a nice fishing lake to walk around, a woodland walk, kids playground and dog walking area. The facilities are large and very clean. It's an ideal base for the famous cave beaches and Ilfracombe town is only a 10 min drive away. This site was a great find and we'll definitely be back. Try googling combe martin for lots of views of the beach and there's a good arial video of Combe Martin on Youtube too.

Having not visited this area before we had no idea what to expect from the area or newberry Valley. What a fantastic site, well kept pitches and centrally placed amenities block with best facilities we have come across on our travels. If club house, games rooms are what your looking for its not for you, but if you're after a tranquil retreat in beautiful surroundings after a day exploring then you couldn't find a better place. Short walk in to combe Martin village where there is a small selection of bars, cafes /restaurants and shops. A small Cove ideal for exploring the rock pools, swimming or hiring a canoe. There are also some great walks in the area. The only downside to this resort is the approach which is very narrow and twisting lanes. Wouldn't put me off going again though.

Lovely quiet site, although not small, it feels small, as lots of split levels, and different areas. Our pitch was very large with a great outside space. We went as a group of 3 vans and were put next to each other which was great. The facilities are great, lots of shower rooms, which are nice and large so great if showering with children. My 12 year old daughter said the play area was aimed at younger than her, so could have been more for older.

Stayed for 5 nights on this site which is only a few minutes walk from Combe Martin, the beach, coastal path and bus routes. Staff were friendly and efficient. Modern facility block is excellent with warm, individual unisex toilet/washrooms and shower rooms which were always clean. Well designed and maintained site. Good value for money. Enjoyed our stay.

On the whole this is a well thought out and well-run campsite in a great location. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and in many ways it is a cut above other sites with its unisex self contained shower rooms and large laundry and washing up facilities. However, a couple of things let it down - namely the poor water pressure, tepid water and grubbiness in the showers. Also, the motorhome service point was tucked away in a corner and poorly signed. Don't get me wrong; I would recommend the site, especially to campers with children but in no way did the facilities justify the £35 per night peak season price tag.

Just returned from a weeks holiday and we were lucky to be there during the 'mini heat wave'. The campsite site was lovely and the toilet/showers were one of the best we have seen - so spacious! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.
