Had a wonderful 8 days at this sight. The staff where exceptionally helpful and friendly.
The facilities are excellent, the showers are the best we have ever had on camp sites.
Can't think of anything negative to about this site. Lovely lake and woodland walk on site and very close to Coombe Martin beach.
All in all a wonderful site we would recommend to anyone. The kids tractor ride with Scooby Doo in the mornings was great fun.

This is an attractive well looked after site in Combe Martin a beautiful part of North Devon. The facilities as stated in other reviews are first class, the spacious shower rooms and washing up area, where there is a microwave and fridge for your use, were spotless. The fishing lake is a really pretty and peaceful spot to while away an hour or two.
The staff we found very friendly and helpful they had time to suggest walks to go on and places to visit.
We did not find the wolves a problem when they howled, it was quite fascinating.
The beach at Combe Martin looked great for crabbing when the tide is out for children young or old and we noticed a sign saying dogs were no longer allowed on the beach during the summer months. Lynton, The Valley of Rocks and Ilfracombe are just a bus ride away and are well worth a visit.
Would we visit this site again, the answer is yes indeed.

Lovely quiet site not very busy the week we were there,
Showers and toilets were very clean, but we think at busy times wanting to use toilets might be a problem as there are no single toilets, all are within either shower or wash rooms,
Beach within walking distance,
Shops and cafes local buses, met Shaun the wolfe man, very nice man to chat with each morning, heard the wolves most mornings. Wolf centre next to campsite,
Dog walk was ok but a bit steep,
Nice short walk around fishing lake,
Would think about visiting this campsite again,
All staff very pleasant and helpful.

The drive through the hills to Coombe Martin sorts the men from the boys. Long high street to negotiate but easy access on the bend as you leave the village.
Staff were exceptionable helpful and we were shown our pitch and parking. Why everyone had to park to the left of the caravan when the doors are usually on the right is confusing but that's their rules.
Although it had rained a lot, the pitch was sodden. Just standing on the grass was like standing in a puddle. The caravan sunk a little to one side and the 4x4 left ruts after parking there for a week.
The toilet/washing block was very tidy and cleaned regularly. Most suites were locked presumable to minimize cleaning but others were not opened even though more campers arrived by the end of the week. The showers were very clean and hot and free (but a bath was £2).
Site is always being mowed or trees being cut and the lake is a pleasant walk. The wolves howling during early morning and dusk was amazing.
There is a fair amount of seasonal pitches being used and they seem to have the better, elevated pitches.
All in all a very nice site kept very clean and staff very helpful. I think it may lose a lot of its charm if it were busy or in high season.
A short drive away, several other touring sites were offering half-price deals which included hook up for £8. However, was happy £18 a night.
A moan I have to make about this and other sites, is I don't begrudge paying for a dog if there are bins just for mess etc, as someone has to empty these. Most people clean up after their pets and bin the waste in the normal bins so why charge ?

Plenty of hills and winding roads to get to Combe Martin but the site has good access once you have negotiated the village main street.
The welcome was good and the staff, in the main, were very helpful (one instance where the lady on reception admitted being unable to read the bus timetable but merely advised that there were 'several bus companies and plenty of regular buses').
The facilities were excellent with some 13 suites
And underfloor heating but, be warned, some of these were locked off and not available during our stay(presumably to save on cleaning) but this did not cause us any real bother.
Well sited for easy access down the hill to the village and plenty of walking along the coastal path etc.
Village has plenty of places to eat, we only tried one (forgotten the name but its the first pub on the right as you enter from the site). And experienced excellent food and service.
Only downside is that the hardstanding pitches seem reserved for the season pitches so we were on grass but the heavy rain both prior to our arrival and during our stay meant the pitch was absolutely waterlogged with water/mud oozing up through the breathable awning groundsheet. The site is certainly not well draining.
Despite this I would still recommend this site and the North Coast of Devon is a wonderful area for a holiday.

Just returned from this site and have to agree with the good reviews for the facilities, they really are second to none. Been camping for quite a few years and never had the privilege of such fantastic showers, toilets. Washing up, an laundry usage.
Very clean and well looked after. The site is well laid out and in a scenic location with plenty of wildlife.
Lots of rabbits, birds, (not impressed with the swallows and their little presents on our new tent. ) the howling wolves has to be experienced. And for me, the Buzzards were the highlight.
But having said all that the constant and incessant mowing of grass, the whining of chainsaws, and just to top it off the grating of an industrial tree chipper, put us off and after 5 days of this we just had to put in a formal complaint.
Enjoyed combe Martin but would not come back to this site.

An excellent site with staff to match who take you to your pitch and check all amenities and site security on a regular basis even at night.
The toilet/shower block is absolutely first class matching any 5 star hotel if not better.
The description of the site does not do it justice, but all amenities are close at hand
only thing to watch is that the footpath to the dogs allowed beach is on a very sharp bend when returning back to park, limiting your view to the left.
Cannot praise this site enough and would get a 5 star plus rating from us.

We had a two week holiday mid August at this site and had a truely fantastic time. We are a family of two adults and two children aged 7 and 9. This is the best campsite we have ever stayed at and all the staff were helpful and fun to be around - there was a great atmosphere. Our children especially liked the 'Ted's tractor rides' each morning at 9am.
The pitches were spacious and well organised. We were located in field four. The site is also sheltered in the valley - when it was blowing hard in Combe Martin, the breeze was very gentle on the camp site (dependent on wind direction of course!).
Upon arrival we had the warden take us to our pitch and explain the facilities. Very personal service.
The toilets and showers were five star (new this year I think). Plenty of space and showers. Each shower was self contained with its own toilet and sink. There were also dedicated washrooms and one bathroom (which you had to pay £2 if you wanted a bath).
We also used the fishing lake. Its hard to fish to get the Carp because of the weed(although I did get one on my first ever cast - but then lost it in the weeds). However there are lots of small perch and medium sized roach to be had.
The only downside was that the facilities are centralised and field four was the furthest distance away which meant for a bit of a walk to the loos or to wash up. I understand there may be plans to put in some facilities to rectify this minor niggle next year.
Good range of shops and pubs in Combe martin and good rock-pooling/crabbing at the beach which is just 10 minutes walk down the hill.
Overall 10 out of 10. We will definitely come back. Thanks to all the Staff for a wonderful holiday.

Just returned from this site. We had booked two weeks on one of the largest premier pitches advertised on their website.
We arrived much earlier than we expected and although our pitch wasn't ready, they told us to call in about an hour, which we did and they escorted us to the area we were allocated.
The large premier pitches are right next to the lake - a lovely outlook - but prone to muddiness - and as we were later to discover - flooding! Our pitch was very muddy, and the staff suggested we pitch our groundsheets directly over the mud! We didn't and ended up not being able to use 50% of the pitch size for the duration of our holiday because the mud didn't dry out.
Having booked the highest price premier pitch - giving us electric hook up and a water tap - and extra space, we were a bit put out that we were also charged another £1. 75 a day to park our little trailer on the large pitch we had already paid for.
Being near the lake, we had a lot of children congregating on their bikes and with footballs outside our tent every night. We didn't mind much, but if you are looking for piece and quiet, it was probably not the best spot.
Also, The Wolf Centre backs onto the campsite and they are noisy, with a lot of howling early in the morning and again at dusk. We heard a lot of complaints from fellow campers about this as nothing was mentioned on the website about it. It didn't bother us, but for many people, it was a problem as was the closeness of some of the tents on the standard pitches - not as spacious as their website appears to indicate.
The shower block was a fair distance away, but it was certainly one of the best we have seen on any camp site and this has to be the number one highlight of this campsite. All the showers are private individual wet rooms with loo and wash basin, and underfloor heating. Every room has mops, buckets and a cloth and is kept spotlessly clean. There is even a bathroom for those who prefer a bath to a shower.
Laundry facilities are good, but washing machines are set to a fixed 30 minutes quick wash only, so you need to soak clothing in advance if it is very dirty as the quick wash won't get them clean. There is a free iron and ironing board if you need it.
Dishwashing facilities are in the same block, again very clean with underfloor heating, and there is a free microwave for campers' use.
We had to cut our holiday short because of high winds and driving rain during the second week. The tent held up fine in the winds, but the rain caused a lot of flooding on the premier pitch and running water was making it's way in our direction. Already on a muddy pitch, it was turning into an impossible situation. People on areas away from the lake were fine, and I would say that some work needs to be done on the water drainage to stop flooding of the premier pitches.
Overall, a nice site, but not quite as good as we had hoped for.

We have just returned from spending 6 nights at this site and it has to be the best site we have ever visited.
The facilities were spotlessly clean. I have never in all my camping experience seen such a fantastic shower block, dishwashing and laundry block. They are just tremendous.
The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and always took time to speak to you.
Combe Martin is a lovely village with lots going on. When we left it was the start of their carnival week and we were able to see the raft race. A procession is also planned for later in the week along with a firework display. We hope to return next year and see these for ourselves.
As dog owners and our first visit to Devon we were really pleased with the fact that our dog was allowed into pubs and restaurants. This made our holiday all the more enjoyable as we weren't made to feel unwelcome.
All in all a great place and a fantastic site and one which we will be definitely be going back to.
