We just returned from a week at this site.
The staff are friendly and we were shown to our pitch, by the warden in his golf cart! The pitch sizes were quite generous, albeit muddy / soggy - but then we did have nothing but rain!
Very clean well kept site. Toilet blocks clean and lots of lovely hot water!
We didn't actually drive anywhere as the beach and little town of Combe Martin are a very short walk away. The kids loved the beach especially when they could get on the rocks. The beach just down the footpath from the site allows dogs on it too, which our collie, Mitch, loved.
The South Coast path is also within very each reach - which Mitch & I tried out to Berrynarbor and back!

Have just returned from a weekend at Newberry Valley in the rain!
The site location is very good being only a short walk to the village of Combe Martin where there is a beach, shops, restaurants and pubs.
The owners are very welcoming and the warden showed us to our pitch and explained where everything was.
Pitches are organised well with cars to the left and tents to the right of each pitch which I prefer as it means there is a good space between each tent. Toilets and showers were clean and well serviced and water was very warm. I didn't have to queue once for a shower. One criticism would be that there were not enough sinks for washing up and therefore queues would build up here.
Due to the bad weather, the site was very wet in places but I should think most sites are suffering at the moment.
Torches are a must as there are no lights on the site apart from the toilet block and it is very dark!

This was our first camping trip with our son, then 9 months old and we had an excellent time. The terracing of the field provided good privacy and the pitch was a good size and well-maintained. The rabbits hopping about were a source of endless joy for our littl'un, as were other people's dogs!
No probs with the toilet block, it was clean, big enough and had hot water.
Campsite staff very helpful and friendly. They drive around on mini tractor things, another source of joy for our son!
(Lazily) we ate from the chippy a couple of times, which was good but be warned it closes at about 8pm. The cafe on the beach front was a bit dodgy - no orange juice just Fruit Shoot, also nasty toilets - but good teacakes.
Outings-wise, we gave the dinosaur park a miss and went to Exmoor Zoo instead, which was lovely. The enclosures are all close together so there's always some strange beast to look at, and several types of small monkeys have runs that go above your head over the path, so you felt much more in the mix than you do at say London Zoo. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and we got to hold a couple of snakes.
We also went to a National Trust place, I can't remember the name of it but great tearoom as per usual!
We'd be very glad to go back to this lovely site.

Very very impressed nice hot/clean showers & toilets great staff (mick head warden) always on hand to help.
Easy campsite to findfromtheM5takethe A361then theA399just drive straight through Combe Martin up the hill around the corner and the campsite is just after the national speed limit sign.
One of the very few sites to take Dogs and Motorcycles
Local shops are good and only a few minutes walk away
The beach also close buy.
To top it up I LOVED IT AND I WILL RETURN SOON
Please take care on the A399 with larger vans/campers some of these bends are quite tight but nice for bikes.

Stayed mid-August 2007 for 5 nights, at a cost of £23.50 per night (for 2 adults and 2 children). Our first impression was that the toilet blocks weren't very clean, but this was unjustified - they were just in need of refurbishment. In the Gents there were 5 shower cubicals, and 6 toilet cubicals. I took my shower at 07:30 each morning, and on every occasion there were several cubicles free. The Ladies was a little busier, and queuing was sometimes necessary. There was always hot water when I showered, but I overheard someone else saying the shower was cold later in the morning.
The site is linear, being long and not very wide. The facilities are centrally placed, so campers on some of the pitches have a bit of a trek to the facilities and water points. Caravans, as usual, are situated closer to the facilities. The site is very well maintained.
There is a play area, but be warned that it is secluded with a stream running alongside it, so there are obvious safety considerations. Access was also extremely muddy when we visited.
The site is on a slope, but terracing helps to alleviate this. Even so, there was still a significant slope to our pitch, which caused us one or two problems in our camper van. The pitch was very damp, and the slight slope up to the road and lack of any room to manouevre (there was a crash barrier right behind us) meant that we churned up mud whenever we went out. On the last day we had to be towed off. There were other pitches on the site much better suited to camper vans, but for some reason we were placed on an unsuitable pitch.
The steward that showed us to our pitch was extremely helpful and friendly and told us a lot about the area. Pitch boundaries are clearly marked. The small shop/reception sells all the essentials and you can order papers. One thing the shop doesn't sell, surprisingly, is bottled gas. You have to go into the village to exchange your gas bottle. After lugging my bottle into the village on foot, I wasn't too impressed to be told they had sold out.
Overall, we felt that the site was nice, but certainly didn't justify the high price. I should say, however, that the beach and town are only a short walk away, so I guess this would be reflected in the price. A week earlier we had stayed at a site in the same part of the country with stunning views, almost right on the beach with similar facilities for far less.
We only ate at one pub - the Pack o' Cards. This is an attractive looking pub, with a large beer garden that caters well for children. Prices were reasonable and food OK, but be warned that it is very busy (waiting time for food was 1 hour), attracting a lot of holidaymakers.
The Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is only 2 or 3 miles away, and was a good day out for the kids. It cost us £35 for a family ticket (2+2). The highlight for my wife was being able to hand feed raisins to the lemurs.
Another good day out is Keypitts Quads and Stables, which you will find near Ilfracombe. For £18 my 9 year old son had about 45 minutes on a Quad bike. He was given a lengthy training session on a safe circuit (which we thought was good) followed by a ride across fields. While my son was doing this, my wife and 5 year old daughter went for their first horse ride. This costs £15 for half an hour and £20 for an hour. This was money well spent, as they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
For groceries, there's a Tesco a few minutes drive away at Ilfracombe. There are, of course, also convenience stores in Combe Martin itself. There's also a small camping shop close to the site, which proved handy. When walking into the village, be sure to take the footpath directly opposite the entrance to the camp site. This way you avoid having to walk on the road for the short distance that there is no footpath. Be careful when crossing though, because it is on a blind bend.
The beach at Combe Martin isn't amazing, but the kids enjoyed themselves down there. You'll find caves and rock pools, and you can also do some crab fishing here. Be careful not to get cut off by the tide, though. There is a fish and chip shop close to the beach.

This is an attractive, level, well-drained site (particularly important this year!) We were in the farthest field which was very peaceful although it did add 8mins to the 5min walk to the beach, It was lovely to be able to walk to the sea by footpaths with only one road to cross. Having read other reviews I think we were unfortunate that the showers and washing-up water varied between cold and lukewarm. Perhaps the system can't cope with a full site. I would also have liked a curtain across the shower, as it was too easy to get your clothes wet! We did feel that the peak season prices were a bit steep in the circumstances. We had a very pleasant evening meal at a reasonable price, in the tiny Devon Fayre Cafe on the edge of the village. Combe Martin, Morthoe and the surrounding area is very attractive and Woolacombe has a wonderful beach, especially out of season.

We visited this site to test our recently acquired Sunn Valley 8 Family tent and were not disappointed. The reception staff were helpful, polite and friendly - special mention to Mike, one of the on-site camp wardens. Very knowledgeable and accomodating. The farm site is well kept, clean and in a superb location for the small beach and Coombe Martin. Whilst the site was busy, we were directed to a site for larger frame tents and surrounded by families with children of a similar age. The girls enjoyed watching the Buzzards fly overhead and watching the fishermen using the lake on the site. Whilst being the most expensive UK site we have ever stayed on, the faclities provided were excellent. Pitches were generally level. Shower facilities were clean. Washing up-facilities could perhaps be enlarged as they are right next to the one-way road system that runs round the site. With small children helping to dry parents need to be aware of vehicle movements. Although we only stayed for five days there was more than enough to do locally. Great spot for exploring the North Devon coastline.

The park was very clean and well landscaped. The lady in reception moved are pitch to the rally field, good job as we would of been wedged in between two caravans but instead we had plenty of room, overlooked the pond and was very peaceful, except one night when the sheep decided to be very vocal, but I would rather hear that than somebody being noisy and disrespectful! The facilities were okay, showers were nice and hot, never a queue but felt they could be cleaned more often, especially as it was high season! Only a short walk to the beach and the town centre so it was Nice to be able to leave the car behind! Woolcoombe Beach is lovely!

Lovely site. Good location for walking to beach and village centre - although mind traffic on bend as crossing. Loved the terraced aspect of the site, gives it a nice segregation. Especially liked being able to pick blackberries from the hedges! Shower block adequate although could be cleaner. Don't remember having to queue. Would stay again if in the area, but don't think we'll be back in area again, didn't like Barnstaple and thought Ilfracombe was nice but lacking something. Prefer to go back to Cornwall!

We arrived here in the evening, but were happily escorted to a well marked pitch. The shower/bath block is very good, but we were a little too close to it - our own fault as there were plenty of other pitches available. Combe Martin is close by for food and drink, although none of the venues stood out.
