All I can really do is echo the many favourable comments in previous reviews, and I think other campsites are gonna have to go some to match the facilities/shower block/toilets are absolutely first class. And to the staff nothing was too much trouble, always a smile and a cheery disposition. I guess we have been spoilt for any other campsite. One tiny little point the very generous pitches are not completely level or flat and we don't expect them to be. For all but the very largest sized tents it isn't an issue, however with very large tents it can make life interesting. I think that next time I will see if I can get a pitch nearer the wolf sanctuary as they appeared to be the flattest and hence perhaps more suitable for very large tents. I will however qualify that by saying I got the pitches I requested so no blame or complaint is implied or intended. I will certainly be visiting again. The local shops, pubs, and beaches are all within a few minutes walk and the area of North Devon is one of the loveliest in the UK.

A lovely campsite with a fishing lake, where the best pitches are located, we think. The washing up area and the shower block is top notch, the shower rooms are even bigger than our bathroom at home! The beach is 5 mins walk away. Being next door to the Wolf Sanctuary, we heard them howling some nights which is an experience. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. Would we return again? Yes, most definitely.

This is a quite big site that meanders up a valley, the pitch we had was spacious but we did need the levelling blocks, but nothing to worry about. There's even a lake for fishing. There's a lovely walk in the woods although it does end at five bar gate with a sign warning you to keep out as there are wolves !
We were made to feel very welcome at reception, the people were very friendly.
The toilet block is immaculate and heated. A lot of sites claim to have award winning toilets but these are definitely the best we have been in.
The site is on the edge of the town and just a few minutes walk to the beach. There are a few pubs and plenty of shops the village.
Well worth a visit.

Our 1st visit to this site, we were really impressed, from the moment we arrived to the time of departure the staff were extremely friendly knowledgeable & helpful. The wash block & laundry is the best equipped, clean and a pleasure to use. The pitches are all terraced and spacious. If nitpicking I would like more lighting on the roadways.
Being located within a couple of minutes walk from the beach & the village meant there was no need to use the van & buses give easy access to Ilfracombe & Barnstable. The scenery is awesome and the wolf centre added a unique environment.
Would we visit again? Definitely.

Things we liked – Great location, Very Well organised peaceful site, friendly & attentive staff, First class bathrooms, within easy walking distance of Combe Martin.
DO NOT be put off by Shaun Ellis`s wolves, they do howl, but it`s only in very short bursts and only a few times a day at most.
Things we did not like – Parts of the A399 are twisty, narrow & steep as you get towards Combe martin area, It can be a little challenging.
Would we go back? – Yes
Location –Set in a valley, On the A399 approximately 10 minutes drive from ilfracombe & about 5 minutes walk from Combe Martin
Pitches - There are a various types & sizes of pitches available at Newberry Valley, ours was flat with more than double the room we would normally get at a club site for less money !
Toilets / Showers – The shower block was probably one of the best we have seen, It has 11 shower rooms + approx. 8 wash rooms + a family bathroom, all of the rooms have a toilet, sink & hand dryer. These bathrooms are hotel type standard!
Facilities –In door washing up areas, fridge & microwave.
Staff – Friendly, welcoming & very helpful
WI-FI – None
Bar / Food – None on site
TV Reception – Very good signal
Fishing – There is a lake on site, but it was weedy & would probably be more suited to float fishing, Ilfracombe pier is great for fishing, but best for a morning or evening tide, as there would be less tourists, Combe martin has some great points for rock fishing as well as a great beach
Out & About – There is an endless supply of beaches in this area including Combe martin, Hele bay, Ilfracombe & Woolacombe all within a few miles, Combe Martin wildlife & dinosaur park, Exmoore zoo, Quince honey farm, Tunnels beaches (ilfracombe) are all top of the list for adults and children alike, Ifracombe town, Clovelly village, Barstable City are all worth a visit

Didn't arrive here till after 6pm due to a nightmare journey but staff were very understanding, and a friendly warden showed us to our pitch which was located near its own small toilet block and close to the wolf centre. We were pleased to find pitch was level and no problems with getting tent pegs in. After settling in for the night we were treated to the experience of the wolves howling under the full moon, absolutely surreal! Fortunately this did not go on all night, in fact we only heard them about 3 times the whole week much to my disappointment!
The best thing about this site is its location, only a short walk to 2 small beaches, ideal for rock pooling. Plenty of pubs within walking distance, the Pack of Cards pub is a slightly longer walk but did us a fantastic Sunday lunch (as recommended by lady in site reception)and there was a quiz night on Tuesday. A variety of shops in the village for groceries and gifts and the essential bottle of chilled wine!
There are some lovely walks from Combe Martin and I'd recommend getting a plan from the tourist info office and talking the cliff walk up the hills (if you're feeling fit!)- great for wildlife watching, we saw buzzards, ravens, lizards and lots of butterflies.
The site itself is also great for wildlife watching and most evenings we were content to sit with a bottle of wine watching and listening for the buzzards and owls. With the exception of the odd car visiting the wolf centre, the site was peaceful. There is also a pleasant woodland walk on site.
Modern shower block was spotless and we never had to queue for shower or toilet. Plenty of hot water.
Warden regularly greeted us while driving about in his buggy to check we were ok. On the morning of leaving, we were slightly late packing up (as usual!) but were not made to feel hurried.
All in all a relaxing holiday in a lovely location and we have been hard-pressed to find a site for this year in another part of the country which lives up to the standard as set by Newberry Valley. Well done guys! Perhaps we'll visit you in the future with our new caravan.

We have just returned home from a wondeful relaxing week at newberry. We are so glad we ignored the negative feedback. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The facilities and site were excellent, there's even soap in the facilities block as well. Like most campsites not all pitches are on the level, we had a cracking spot.
The shop has only a few essentials, but with the town only a few minutes walk (not a problem). The only down side for me was the weed in the fishing lake, it needs managing if its been advertised as a fishing venue, they did knock the price down because of this, and I still caught some nice fish. Don't let the sound of howling wolves put you off, for us it added an extra dimension to the whole experience. A Lovely Time

This site is laid out in terraces and in the rough weather a hard standing pitch with EHU was very welcome (there are only a few hard standing pitches), however this site is not cheap as we paid £26 per night in the week after the August bank holiday (still high season school holidays), but on our second visit in September the prices had dropped to a reasonable £15 per night.
The facilities at this site are very good indeed. There is no division between male/female and all the toilets are situated in shower rooms or wash rooms, a couple even have baths. All are situated in a block with washing up and laundry facilities which are kept very clean. There is also a fridge and a microwave.
The site is in a rural setting and there aren’t sea views, but there is a convenient link to the south west coast path and the small beach just across the road. There isn’t a camp shop as such just a few provisions in the reception area, however it is only a short walk to Combe Martin where there is a Spar and pubs and holiday type shops.
The only slight downside is that there are no lights whatsoever and a few low level lights would have been handy at night – you definitely need a torch. We’d stay here again.

We visited this lovely site for the first week of our two week camping holiday. We were sited in the top section of the one way system - not far from the main facilities. We were very pleased with our pitch, it rained most days and our pitch remained well drained. We chose this site because of the good reviews of the shower/toilet facilities and they certainly lived up to our expectations. These facilities were always clean and had a 'deep clean' more than once during our stay. There is underfloor heating in the showers - which meant the rooms dry out quickly. The washing up facilities were also under cover and kept very clean.
The views of the surrounding countryside were spectacular and at night you could periodically hear the wolves howling, but they were in the distance and didn't disrupt our sleep, in fact it was quite relaxing. We had no problems with birds leaving deposits on our tent. We found the staff very accommodating, friendly but not intrusive and very approachable if we had any queries. The staff take pride in their site, and it showed. Scooby Do on the tractor each morning was a nice touch for the children and the atmosphere of the whole campsite was relaxed, friendly and clean and tidy.
Although we didn't stay near the fishing lake was very pretty and had ducks on it. This campsite thought of everything - even having a washing area for the wetsuits. Our first main holiday camping - would recommend this site to anyone and we all are looking forward to returning again another time. I think we have been well and truly spoilt with this campsite. The campsite is just a few minutes walk from Coombe Martin where there are pubs, shops and the small beach area. Very secure campsite with it's own entry/exit barrier and keycode.

This is an absolutely wonderful site, in a perfect position, just a short walk from the beach, and within easy walking distance of the town. The countryside is beautiful, and there is loads to do in the area.
The facilities are second to none, and scrupulously clean, and everybody is really friendly and welcoming. We loved the bathrooms! And although we were there in the peak season, we never had to queue for a washing up sink, or shower.
We had a brilliant time, and will certainly be coming back!
