Excellent site - clean, well maintained. Friendly staff.

10 min walk to village centre.

We were originally booked for 5 nights but extended to 7 because we were enjoying so much

One of the best camping places I've ever been to.

Shower rooms are absolutely brilliant! There is even a bathroom!

Premier pitch with own water /electric and post light which has it's own grey water drain built in.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Facility's always clean and the site is well maintained.

Well worth going to stay there if your visiting that area of Devon.

A lovely site, great setting, friendly staff and had some much needed shade for our stay! The kids loved the tractor rides and it was a great way to encourage them to get dressed in the morning :-)

It was very quiet the first week of our stay and busier the second week but we rarely had to wait for showers etc and everyone seemed to follow the quiet after 10. 30 rule.

It's a short walk to Newberry beach and slightly longer to Combe Martin beach, it took us about 15 mins to Combe Martin with our young children and all our beach stuff.

If walking to Combe Martin it's safer to cross the road and go via the footpath towards Newberry beach as there's no pavement on that section of the road.

The park was good but could do with replacing the missing swing. The dishwashing room was lacking a few plugs, and it would be useful to have a small bin in there to put the bits that get stuck in the drain.

These are really the only suggestions I could make though, it really is a great site!

We had the best pitch in over 15 years of touring.

The site was just perfect for our stay and will defo stay again.

Thanks to the great team and don’t change a thing (ok maybe the water pressure)👍

We have just returned from 2 weeks camping at Newberry Valley. The campsite is well maintained and the staff are friendly.

However, I saw rats on a number of occasions near the bins, the bins were full. I told reception about them and they seemed to be unaware of any rats, I'm not sure that was true as they were pretty big.

The showers were at best luke warm and quite often cold (check the temperature before getting ready to leap in!).

Where our camp was located it was a very long walk to the shower block and whilst they have built some toilets at the far end of the site, they regularly ran out of toiket roll and soap.

The children's play park is in a very isolated location and cannot be seen by anyone unless you're in the park itself. I was reluctant to allow my children to go there on their own.

Where we were there was a high number of big groups of 2--3 tents. Big groups were less sociable and closed themselves off.

Ted the tractor rides were every morning except Sundays and they were great fun.

We saw grasshoppers, rabbits, heard owls.

We had a wonderful holiday but we won't stay here again, there wasn't a big field for kids to play on, they were quite resticted to our pitch.

I do love the countryside. While the site is well kept and the area is beautiful there were two things that let it down for me. Both may seem petty.

Number one. There is a double five barred gate at the back of the site, with a no entry sign on it. While walking my little border collie past the gate, a large mastiff type dog charged out under the gate to attack my pet.

The owner of the animal had no control of it. I had to pick up my pet. They said that they lived there, in the property nextdoor.

Number two. The showers were verging on cold. To be generous I'll say tepid

Being a hot day that wasn't to bad. But I would have preferred some control of it.

Good size pitches, friendly staff, well maintained clean shower / toilet / laundry block.

Coombe Martin is just a few minutes walk along a safe path with the advantage of it ending in a dog friendly beach area.

Very nice and well kept campsite. Friendly welcome and you are shown to your pitch which are huge so you don't feel overcrowded. Grounds are well kept.

Shower, toilet and hand basin all in one room which makes showering easier, however, the shower pressure was low meaning it could take some time to wash. No push buttons but the temperature is pre-set. The cubicles are very large with plenty of hooks and a chair. The water was for the most part hot enough to the shower.

There are also some basin and toilet combinations, a bathroom and separate urinals. There are no individual toilets only the ones combined as above (the second block might have but we didn't use). A separate area contains a wired in hairdryer but also a socket for your own.

Dish washing area was 4 sinks I think and the water to these was always hot and plentiful. Laundry area consisted of 4 washing machines and 4 dryers operated by coin - £4 for a wash (30 mins).

Most pitches were sunny although there are trees to provide shade on some but I prefer an open pitch which we got. Because you are in a valley the sun does disappear about 7pm at this time of year. If you go into the village though the beach remains sunny until sunset due to being west facing.

Overall the site was quiet - no noisy groups on our visit - perfect. There are barriers to allow you in and out operated by a number code so felt secure. Short walk to the village for food and drink.

The castle pub has a lovely well kept sunny beer garden and is cheaper than the other pubs although the Pack O' Cards has a very large garden with play equipment for the young ones and also serves food.

There is only a Premier store for essentials like milk. A larger supermarket is on the outskirts of Ilfracombe. Easy bus ride to Ilfracombe but the 301 is about half the price of the Sunseeker bus at approx £7. 80 return for 2 not £15.

I would definitely return and recommend.

We chose this site because of it's close proximity to the southwest coast path, which we are walking in it's entirety.

It's placement is perfect.

The staff couldn't be more helpful and are extremely friendly.

The facilities for a quiet stay were just right. The amenities blocks were well kept, clean and spacious with washbasin/ toilet /shower contained individual cubicles.

Would thoroughly recommend this site.
