Stayed here for 5 nights starting Mon 14th June 2010 after reading positive reviews and we were not disappointed.
Site set in a beautiful location, warm welcome on arrival. We were given a pitch that was more than big enough for our large tent and car. Toilet and shower blocks immaculately clean, I had a bath every night which was only £1 and worth every penny, piping hot water, great after a long day out and about.
Great base to visit surrounding areas, Scarborough, Whitby etc. Site lovely and peaceful, but I guess would be busier and noisier at weekends and when the kids were off school. People on site lovely and friendly.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time, and would have stayed longer if we had more time off work. I would definitely recommend this site and will be returning later in the year.
A couple of slight niggles, which in no way affected the enjoyment of our stay are: We had electric hook up and were not aware that the site was only 10watts max, so on the first night at 11pm, our electric tripped and we were unaware how to get it back on, we had to wait until 9am in the morning to go and see the warden, who showed us where the box was on site to enable us to re-set it, it would have been nice to have been shown or told this on arrival to stop us having to go 10 hours with no power.
I would also suggest if you are camping with no children and want peace and quiet, then ask for a pitch away from the children's play area, as this can get noisy at times.

Poorly supervised at night time. Noisy group ruined our week end, left early. Otherwise clean site level well marked out pitches. Previous problems with smelly drains near shower blocks said to be resolved they were not. The general area and nearby town of Pickering well worth a visit. The site is situated close to the busy road but traffic is very light in the nighttime

We have just returned from our first ever camping trip - 2 adults, 4 kids, 1 dog and a massive Vango Diablo 900. We were all welcomed on this site. Facilities were great and clean - lots of hot water for showers (free), with the option of a bath for £1.
There were lots of 'regulars' - which I considered to be a good sign. Lots of friendly, happy children who were well behaved.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. A very enjoyable stay and will definitely return.

Good site, well stocked shop (licensed!) and nice, helpful staff.
The site has a great kids playground and, across a small road, a football pitch. Pitches nice, flat and grassy. The toilet block was great and even boasted baths on top of the usual showers etc.
Handy for Pickering and Scarborough. Plenty of places to eat and drink in Pickering, but this highlights the camp's only draw back - you need to drive everywhere really.
Once you're on the site, though, the facilities are good. A chippy visits on Saturdays and a newsagent on Sundays. You can even hire the use of a microwave. Your fellow campers are mellow and, if the sun shines, its a great place to be.

Arrived mid week and it was lovely and quiet.
All was shattered when Friday came and a large party of three adults and kids erected tents within feet of the back of my caravan. They then erected a large gazebo even closer to my caravan ( Even though it says no gazebo,s allowed except in rally field at this site I saw at least 4 in the middle of the caravans during this weekend) the noise carried on till 2am. Asked warden to be moved next day, but got no joy,
At the top of the park was a large area for tents, there was only one tent on the whole of the grass. I have never been on a site before where they mix tents in with caravans. We will not be returning to this site, and people should be aware if they want a quiet weekend away this is not a site for you.

It was our second attempt to stay here and very impressed with this site.
Clean shower and toilet block, there was queues at times and there was a mop and bucket to mop up the water in the shower so it was clean for the next person.
Staff friendly and helpful and stocked plenty of leaflets for ideas of days out.
A chip van came on a Saturday evening and the food was nice.
The playground was enjoyed by my children but it was out of the way a bit so they couldn't go off and play on their own as it was near the road of the campsite.
The only negative that I had was that it did advertise a games area but it was just a room with a grabber machine, a pool table (that was always occupied) and some racing car machines.
Would stay here again.

We thought it was wonderful!
The children's play area we thought was quite user friendly with rubber matting fitted to help stop anyone getting hurt.
The toilets and showers are very good and there are plenty of them and lots and lots of hot water.
The only criticism I would have is the owners ask for dogs to be kept on a lead but not everyone adhered to it.
I would call it a perfect out of the way holiday but don't think it would be perfect for teenagers.

My family and I have stopped at Vale of Pickering for the last 2 years and this year will be my third. I can honestly say that this is one of the best sites I have stayed on.
The whole place pitches, park, shop etc. are beautiful, all kept clean and tidy. The showers and laundry room is clean and warm.
The staff are brill, friendly and sociable, they never forget you that's so nice. It is family friendly which is a big thing when you are on holiday.
I would recommend this site to any one its great !

We stayed in the rally field for the weekend with our VW club (about ten vans). I didn't organize the meet but I gather it was straight forward and the owners were very reasonable.
This site was fantastic for us as it really is a family campsite. At no time did we think our toddler was going to be in any danger at all - if cars drove by (I'm not sure one did) then they were very slow.
Facilities were great (clean toilet block made out of bricks - and large), wardens were very friendly and helpful - the children's play ground was great for a toddler - and all the older kids seemed to love it to.
The location was central - you do have to drive to see the sights and the camp site was in the middle of nowhere - all well documented and part of the attraction.
Highlight of our trip was Whitby beach - what a peach.
Will we be going again? Definitely.

We have just arrived home from a fantastic 3 night stay at the Vale of Pickering Caravan Park. Luckily we had great weather apart from the last night & packing away a wet tent on Monday morning.
The site looked beautiful when we arrived on the Friday, the approach road to the site was stunning with well kept grass borders & trees surrounded daffodils in full bloom. This was the same throughout the park, the ground staff & owners should be very proud to have such an attractive site.
The facilities were excellent, an immaculate toilet/shower block, the gents had 6 free showers & a bath if required (£1.00 charge for bath), spotless toilets & sinks too. The ladies apparently were to the same high standard.
The pot wash area is indoors, they even supply washing up liquid for free! There's a laundery room, freezer & microwave too if required.
The staff were very efficient & friendly, there's a small shop selling essentials (including alcohol).
Our children spent the majority of their time at the playground which they loved even though it was quite busy. We also used the dog walk twice daily to exercise our daft Labrador which was really handy.
There are a few pubs within a 5-10 minute drive & the park is ideally placed to reach Pickering, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay & Whitby. We spent our last full day in Dalby Forest & had a great time, there are walks, cycle trails, a visitors centre, kids play areas & a bike park all for an entry fee of £7.00 per car, it's a stunning place.
A beautiful site in a great location, we will definitely be returning, sooner the better!
