A large well-kept site with lots of hard standing caravan pitches and ample, immaculately clean, toilets and showers and a bath. Well placed bins and water-points across site, and an extensive children's play area, information room, laundry (cheap) and dog walking/playing fields a short walk off the site. Great TV reception - it's the first time we've had full digital channels on a campsite.
10 Minutes from Dalby Forest and a pub in the local village - you'll need to drive to this.
The site staff were very friendly from arriving to leaving, may have been the joys of setting up their christmas lights throughout a lot of showers, but they remained welcoming and friendly throughout.
We're so impressed (despite a wet weekend) that we're going back on the 4th/5th December for the turning on of their lights. A great site all round.

Went camping for the weekend with 3 tents was told over the phone there was electric hook ups for tents but when we arrived we were told there was none available although only 2 other tents arrived for the weekend.
The site itself is really nice. Toilets and showers were clean and warm they even have baths.
The children's play area is excellent and the site is very safe at the end of a long drive and locks up for the night

Just returned from our visit to this campsite.
1st impressions were very good, (despite the rain)
Reception were very polite and courteous.
Pitch area was fantastic, mixed in with tourers.
Grassed area for the tent + rubbled area for the parking space, which overall felt like a huge space and very comfortable.
Most of the site is surrounded by trees, shrubs and very well maintained flower borders and baskets.
Playground was great for our 2 children, they enjoyed playing there, even in the rain.
Toilet/Shower/Wash areas are immaculate, other than the odd mudded floor which is to be expected with the weather. Mop provided. Ample toilets, choice of bathroom £1 operated for a bath, showers, family bathroom, baby change area with changing mat, hairdryer with table/chair, private cubicles with sinks, the choice was great, and to me, makes an impact in whether we would visit again or not. (need to feel comfortable!)
Didn't use the shop, but I'm sure that would stock most essentials.
You need to travel a good few miles to the nearest supermarkets, pubs, fish 'n' chip shop etc.
We only stopped 1 night, as we had to cut short our stay, but we will definitely be back.
Can imagine it being even more appealing in the spring/summer, as we arent avid campers who brace all the seasons! (unfortunately)

Stayed here for 3 nights bank holiday weekend. This is a good site for most reasons but I did have a problem with some things: Firstly the Rally Field that we were put on is too far away from the Toilet and Shower block, I had booked well in advance but still felt like this was an overflow field. There were not enough Showers and Toilets for the size of the site which resulted in long queues! Third the facilities are cleaned once a day which must be the only time they are checked too. Lastly middle area of the Rally field is no good in High winds, watched lots tents literally blown away at the weekend|
Location is lovely for visiting surrounding areas but it is quite a hike to the nearest pub if you fancy a change of scenery on an evening.
Park is well equipped

We stayed 3 nights at this site and found it as good as it was last year. Ideally located for the coast whitby and scarborough as well as the north yorkshire dales with pickering ans helmsley nearby. We also visited dalby forest which was worth a visit plenty of walks a massive adventure playground and good cafe and gift shop.
The site facilities are very good, toilets are clean showers a bit on the hot side especially if you have little ones but there are baths available for £1. Lovely well kept grounds a good park for the kids. Freezer available for ice packs. Excellent site we will return to.

As other reviewers have noted this is a well specced site with good size pitches, good shop with all the essentials, well designed children's play area and football pitch -which the children loved. The showers, washing facilities were first class, with hot water always available. The showers/toilet block is closed between 11.00 -12.00 for cleaning.
We stayed in August and the pitches were a little worn - we had some heavy rain too! The park has a ralley field where the majority of tents go. If you want electric then tents are in with the caravans - mixed hard and soft standings.
Good location for the coast and the moors

We (2 adults 2 kids age 5 & 2) spent 2 nights here over a busy weekend and found it to be of the highest standard. We had a non-electric pitch sheltered by the tall hedges on the main tent and tourer field. It was only a short walk to the toilet and shower block which were very good and cleaned regularly.
There is a play area that suits all ages and the area itself is lovely.
I cannot think of any constructive criticism worth mentioning.
We are already planning a return!

Have just returned from a ten night stay at Vale of Pickering with two teenage children and I would thoroughly recommend this site. Very welcoming from the start. We could see immediately how clean and well kept the site was.
Our camp pitch had plenty of room and was well maintained. The washing facilities were very clean and showers good and hot. Although our children are early teenage they made good use of the play park and the football field, making lots of friends.
The on site shop was a bit disappointing but overall a clean friendly family site, close to many attractions and activities.

Site is a mixed caravan, motorhome and tent facility.
Pitches are a good size, we fitted 2 6 berth tents and a 300 x 300 kitchen tent, with room for 2 cars to park.
Reception, site shop and toilet block are fairly central - longest walk is about 5 minutes for non-hook up tents.
Toilet block is a bit small, 6 showers for a 100 plus pitch site, so queues do build up after 8 AM. Block is closed for cleaning between 11 and 12. Laundry and dish washing areas also in this block.
Site is a bit remote - nearest pub is a 25 minute walk into Allerston. Also is a working dairy farm, so a little bit of lorry traffic in and out the site.
Large children play area between reception and toilet block, also a big field with football goals and the dog walk area.
25 minute drive to Flamingo Land, about same for Great Yorkshire Dalby Forest (follow the brown signs, sat nav on TomTom is wrong). Scarborough nearest coastal town is 30 - 40 minutes drive.

First time campers, we found this site to be fantastic. Clean, friendly and well maintained. Plenty of water and rubbish facilities without making it unattractive.
The pitches were good sized and tidy.
The shop was adequate and the showers, laundry and washing up areas were more than we could have hoped for. Never had to queue at anytime over the weekend.
If this is what camping is like, I am truly converted to it!
