Second site on our holiday we stayed for four nights, unfortunately the site was fully booked or we would have stayed longer.
The facilities were excellent and very well maintained.
I have and will recommend this site to friends and relatives and would definitely return in the future.
There was lots to do in the area. We visited Pickering, Goathland (they were filming Heartbeat when we arrived wich made our day as this is one of our favourite programmes), Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Filey. If you like the history of the second world war, I would recommend a visit to Eden Camp, This requires a full day and entrance at £4 each was very reasonable.

I would like to agree with everyone else, the campsite was lovely, large pitches and fit our Hartford XL and car and windbreak no problem. Kids loved the playground and the shop was well equipped albeit being slightly small. Shower blocks were superb (also not used to paying 20p) but they were clean and well stocked with soap etc. Will definitly go back next year!
I do have to agree with Mally1976 on the subject of dogs, my son had a bad experience with a dog, despite it being tethered near it's owners it went for him (he was only looking for BBQ bricks). Most dog owners are considerate but dog mess was spotted near the play area.

Excellent site, just got back from a weekend visit, will definitely go back, hopefully for longer next time. They offered us a spot right next to the park because we have a 5 year old. It was a joy to just let her go and play and be able to keep a discreet eye on her. Was slightly worried about the noise on the evenings when the older kids hung out on the park, but there were plenty of signs telling them to be off the park by 10.30. This rule was strictly adhered to, and it caused us no problems at all.
Good dog walking facilities, our dog loved running around the dog walking field. There is also a football pitch next to the dog walking field for the kids to have a kick about. All in all a very well thought out site.
Shower and toilet blocks were probably one of the nicest I have been to. Don't always agree with having to pay for showers, but I can see why they do it, some people would just take the mick and stay in there for half an hour at a time. Make sure you take 2x 20p with you, I got caught mid lather. If you use the showers in the middle of the day it can take nearly a minute for the hot water to get to the shower head so you can waste a fair bit of your first 20p waiting for that.
Well stocked little shop and reasonably priced too. Very helpful staff, and on Sunday when we were due to come away, I asked if we could have a late departure, and because there was no-one taking over the pitch after us, we were allowed to stay till 4pm with no extra charge.
Would recommend this site to anyone, and will certainly be going back.

Cracking site. The couple we went with booked this site and its was very good.
We stayed on the rally field - a very spacious area, banked on all sides which provides good shelter.
The pitches were spacious and ground was good. The toilet facilities were among the best I have encountered - however 20p per shower is not something we are used to paying; it made me question what was inclusive to the pitch fees and what was not.
The childrens paly area was very good and very poular.
The site is close to Scarborough and Knaresbrough for days out.
My only 'complaint' is in relation to control of dogs on the site (the issue isn't specific to this site, its a common problem). I have nothing against dogs or people that own them, but they have to be controlled. Most sites have an 'on lead' policy - though some owners ignore this; I lost count of the times I had to pick up our 15 month old son; a one strike and your out rule should apply to all sites - dog found off the lead kick the campers out.

Just got back from a great long weekend at the Vale of Pickering. This is one of the best sites we have been to. We had a great flat pitch with electric hookup just behind the caravan hard standing. The pitch itself was spacious and we had more than enough room.
The shop was well stocked and well priced. The park, football pitch and stream were a hit with the kids. The staff that we met were friendly and helpful.
The toilet / washing block was always clean and there was plenty of hot water. There is a 20p charge for the showers and bath but the shop always have a supply of them when needed.
We will certainly be returning to the Vale of Pickering in the near future.

Just back from 4 lovely days at this site. All pitches are flat and well drained. We chose a hardstanding which was perfect for us and had plenty of space. The playpark was very well equipped and the kids made lots of friends within a few minutes of arriving. Toilet and shower facilities are very good although you do have to queue on a morning.
Thornton le Dale is the closest village and is lovely to stop off and have an ice cream. We had days out at flamingo land, whitby and dalby forest which are all within 1/2 an hr drive. Would definetely recommend this site and will be looking to return again in the future.

We chose this site for our first family camping trip and were not dissappointed despite camping in the floods (mad, I know, but it was our holiday and we weren't going home!).
1. Large tent no problem - we requested EHU so were given the large grassy area behind the caravan hard standing.
2. Toilet blocks well equipped - with a young child really liked the family bathroom
3. Laundry room efficient (hadn't planned to use it, but with all the rain.)
4. Play area excellent, site well maintained
5. Great location with plenty to do - Flamingo Land, beautiful villages nearby.
6. Shop well stocked and sensibly priced
Only one negative point - the Friday and Saturday nights (before the rain started), lots of adults sitting around outside their caravans talking/laughing/drinking very loundly till early hours - not policed by the wardens (though they were good at throwing some rowdy kids off the playground after dark).
Staff very friendy, definitely go back

Really good site:- Spent May bank holiday at this site and throughly enjoyed it! Put on a large field (not elec)at the back of the site which gave more than enough room for your tent without feeling squashed in. Most tents pitched around edges leaving a lot of space in the centre for kids to play. Only negatives was the grass was in need of cutting, not good for walking thru after rain showers. Also be aware of where you pitch, we ended up pitched next to a hill of nettles so were nervous about kids playing behind tent in case they fell in them. Other than this a lovely site, excellent play park which looks quite new, lots of kids around for others to play with. friendly reception and small shop with varied stock. Toilet blocks were clean and offered more than enough showers, also a bathroom to bath the little one's in. Cost of 20p for the showers. Large ball field opposite entrance for football playing. Would recommend!

Just a short weekend at this site, but well worth a visit. Everything up to scratch apart form one thing. We did have a problem with the electric trip on our pitch - in the end I used a different electric point which seemed to solve the problem.
Seems to have a regular group of visitors to the site out of season.
Site is close enough for Scarborough and other attractions. Plenty of pubs and places to eat, but better out of the main towns.

FANTASTIC SITE, had a brilliant weekend at this site, the pitches are level and really spacious. The shower block is immaculate and what really impressed me was the block had 2 full size baths, one of which was specifically for disabled which was perfect for my mother, the charge was 20p for a full bath. The shop is well stocked and the warden was so helpful to us as we had forgotten our rock pegs for the awning, however he opened the shop out of hours and told us to pay in the morning! how is that for service! thankyou very much for making a perfect weekend. My son loved the newly refurbished play area, and the football pitch, we will be returning here again and again cannot fault it, see you soon x
