This campsite was excellent, travelled as 2 adults and 3 children aged 7, 3 and 2.
The toilet and shower facilities were always spotless, the shop well stocked for essentials the playground was brilliant for the kids.
The staff who worked there were always friendly and helpful,
It was located well for our trip into pickering to travel on the steam train and also for our day on the beach in scarborough and dalby forest was also easy to get to.
Another great idea was the fish and chip van that goes to the site on a monday and saturday teatime also tried and was lovely
An overall excellent site would recommend to everyone and I will definitely be returning.

Really enjoyed my stay this past weekend at Vale of Pickering.
Despite the strangely cold weather for this time of year, the facilities and environment on site may the stay much easier and comfortable.
The tent pitches are absolutely huge, we were with friends and managed to fit two 5 berth tents into one pitch and use the spare for an outdoor living area.
The toilets, washroom and laundry were of an excellent standard: the toilets and showers were heated, with plenty of capacity and hardly any queueing needed.
The children's play area looked good, and the shop seemed well stocked, but we didn't use those facilities.
At night the area was quiet, children have to be back at with their families at 10 and after 11 there's hardly a peep, so if you're wanting to relax then you're onto a winner.
There are plenty of water and electric points about - however the electric overloaded regularly thanks to caravan users using electric rather than gas heating, but I don't think that'd be a problem in warmer days and nights (it was really cold for May weekend) and the site management provided a friendly reminder to all about the electric situation.
The local area itself is very pretty, Thornton-Le-Dale, Pickering and Malton are easily accessible, with the villages of Allerston and Yedingham close enough for a walk to the pub (however I wouldn't consider them 'just round the corner).
You're about 30 minutes away from Whitby, Scarborough and Filey - plus 'Heartbeat Country', the market town of Helmsley and Robin Hood's Bay aren't far away either - in other words, there's plenty to do!
In all, a really enjoyable stay at Vale of Pickering, it's a well serviced, well managed and clean site, one that I'd happily recommend it to friends.

This is one of the best sites we have visited. We have used it several times. Just returned from a week on the site. Lovely sized pitch which fit our van, full awning and car on.
Facilities were as always exceptionally clean even though the weather was wet.
Fish and chip van visited Saturday night. Good value for money.
Play park for the kids.
Small well stocked shop. Close to Pickering, Scarbourough, Bridlington, Filey, Danby forest, Thornton le dale to name a few places.
The Providence Inn is a mile up the road with lovely food if you want to get out for a meal.
All in all good value for money and a site we will return to again and again.

A good site with lots of facilities. It is mainly a caravan site, but there is plenty of space for tents. It was quiet whilst we were there so I couldn't comment on the size of the pitches, but we had plenty of room on ours for an 8 man tent and a large car.
It rained heavily for a day whilst we were there, but the pitch was well drained, and we had no puddles.
Clean showers, laundry and dishwashing facilities. Plenty of places to put rubbish and recycling, both of which were serviced every day.
Kids playground was great and our 6 and 8 year olds didn't tire of it.
We spent a day at Scarborough and one at Castle Howard, both great days out and not too much of a drive away. We also had an excellent meal at The Providence in Yeddingham, (5 mins away in the car), which came to £50 for a family of 4 with 2 courses and drinks all round.
Only down side to the site was there was no hot food on site or within walking distance, but that is perhaps because there are more caravans.
Will definitely be going again, and would recommend this site.

Stayed on this site for 4 nights for the Pickering War Weekend. The pitches are all hardstanding (hardcore) and not overly large. Had we erected a full awning on our large caravan would have had difficulty parking the car on the pitch as well. Toilets are kept clean and always plenty of hot water. The gates to the site are locked at 11:00pm and not open again till 7:00am which means if you go out for the night (40's dancing) and return after 11 o'clock you have to leave your car on the access road outside the site. More than likely not a problem but something I was not happy with. Small shop on site with extremely limited opening times. Childrens play area by the reception but according to the list of rules, handed to you on arrival, adult supervision is required at all times. Not sure how strictly this is enforced as we had no kids in our company. Would I stay here again, probably not.

What a lovely site, with helpful friendly staff.
Toilets and showers are plentiful, the water was always hot too. They were clean and there is a free hairdrier in the ladies section. The site is well laid out and well maintained.
There is a small shop which sells essentials, you can order newspapers and a fish and chip van visits once a week. In the laundry room there is a microwave oven, and the washers and driers are a reasonable price.
There is an excellent playground which our grandchildren enjoyed, and as usually happens they made friends quickly.
It could benefit from gates to the entrance to it though, as we saw more than one child run straight out into the path of an oncoming car.
A beautiful part of North Yorkshire, with plenty to see and do in the area.

Just returned from this lovely site. Entrance with floweres makes it look inviting.
Grandchildren aged 7 and 9 loved large play area.
Toilet block, only one in centre of site, nice clean plentiful facilities, also houses dish washing area, which has 6 sink units and a central table, also laundry, again kept nice.
In between the daily cleaning there is mop and bucket to clean up after yourselves, but as usual some don't bother, so maybe staff cleaning twice a day would stop it looking a little untidy by late evening. ( you cannot choose your customers )
Good shop on site.
We were at bottom of the rally field which had plenty of space for our large tent, with lots of space for ball games too.
We enjoyed our weekend and will definitely return.

We spent a few nights in our tent on the rally field. A large spacious area with very few stones.
The toilet block facility is good with plenty of sinks, showers etc. The showers are too hot for children though. It is kept clean but this means no toilet facilities between 11 and 12 in the morning as they are closed for cleaning.
The shop is well stocked with basics including air beds and sleeping bags. It is well situated for Scarborough and Whitby.
We would definitely use the site again but we will be sure to ask not to be on pitch 36 as this is right next to a cesspit and very smelly and there are lots of flies around ( the rest of the site is pretty insect free ).
I mentioned this to staff as we left, I hope they will act on this problem.

Site is really nicely laid out, caravan and awning on hard hard standing with a grass area in front with loads of room between units. At the back is a big rally field for tents. We did not have any children with us but its definitely a good family site.
The big playground for kids was always busy but there was hardly any noise on a night which I was surprised at with it being such a family site.
Toilets are very clean, the showers are free, piping hot and spotless, never a queue even though the site was full. The pot wash has plenty of sinks and the site is very well kept.
The shop sells a good range of grocery's, a favourite of ours were the huge eggs from there own farm.
A fish and chip van calls twice a week, plenty of local pubs nearby for meals, Caley arms at Allerston or the Providence at Yeddingham.
The staff are really friendly and helpful and we all enjoyed our stay so much we definitely will be returning.

First time camping and I really loved the site. Very clean and despite the fact it is family friendly it was nice and quiet. The staff are very friendly.
The pitches are not on top of one another so there is enough privacy. I would recommend this site and really hope to return next year.
It is located in between Scarborough and Pickering so lots to do in the area.
The only potential problem could be that it isnt near a pub, for me that wasn't an issue but could be for some.
The shop is well stocked and it isn't overpriced either so if you do need something it wont break the bank.
