Just got back from a week's stay - with six other families!

Stayed on the rally field, which was great for larger parties. Site very clean and tidy with excellent showers and toliet block. Wardens couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Play area great for younger children; small shop on site well-stocked. Only criticism would be that shower facilites are a little overwhelmed during a bank holiday weekend - fine for the rest of the time though.

Excellent base for Scarborough, Whitby, North Yorks Moors Railway, etc. Disappointed with (pre-arranged) meal at Cayley Arms in Allerston, which we felt could have tried harder; next time will try The Providence at Yedingham.

Will be coming back to Vale of Pickering though!

Lovely, quiet, well maintained site. Easy to find - just off the A170 towards Scarborough, 4m past Pickering. Clean toilets/showers. Even 2 baths in ladies and 1 in the gents. Hot water provided by 20p coins. 1 coin supplied enough hot water for shower and more than enough for a bath. Water very hot all times of the day and evening. Playground good.

Football pitch with goal posts also provided. Warden friendly and helpful, didn't mind that we were going to late in vacating our pitch (supposed to be 12 noon).

Only down side to the site is the shop. It opens for only 30 minutes in the morning (9 - 9:30) and 30 mins in the afternoon (4 - 4:30). Fridays and Saturdays it opens slightly longer, presumably their busier arrival days. When it was open however, prices were reasonable and quite well stocked.

Plenty to do nearby (within 20 or 30min drive). Pickering (4 miles away) has everything you need - takeaways (indian, chinese & pizza), safeway supermarket, postoffice, hardware stores, bakery etc. Lots of costcutter village shops around too - limited stock but prices not too bad.

Would definitely return to Vale of Pickering, lovely site.

Spent four days Wed - Sunday at this site with the wife and pet Labrador. We didn`t take the boys as we wanted some peace and quiet and if that is what you want then you will certainly find it here. We opted for the rally field where we had it to ourselves for 2 nights with a handful of campers arriving for the weekend on Friday. The rally field is very big, could possibly be as big (in area) as the rest of the park!! There is a good play area for little ones and a 5-a-side pitch just outside the main entrance. A large dog walking area is also outside the main entrance with a small beck running alongside if your pooch is into a bit of swimming ours made use of it.
The toilet/shower block was always very clean and central to all areas. The wardens were very helpful and with a smile. Good base for touring the North Yorkshire moors or coastline with good access roads.
I would not recommended this for teenagers as there is nothing at all to interest them here (OK if they like to read), but little ones, pets and people wanting the quiet of the countryside are well catered for. We will be going back.

Just spent four "get away from it all" days at this site..... me the Mrs & the dog. Not wanting an electric hook up we were given the choice of several places on the park or anywhere on the large Rally field. We plumped for the rally field as it is not too far from the amenities and we had it to ourselves. The site has a large dog walking field which kept our Labrador well exercised as well as the small stream that runs alongside the field which also kept her amused. This is a well kept, clean site that caters for everybody but teenagers, I think they would get bored. Youngsters are well looked after in the play area and there is a 5-a-side football pitch for the energetic at the site entrance. The shower block was very clean all the time we were there and the wardens were very helpful and gave you service with a smile. Would definately go back.

Lots of great things to mention, well stocked shop, friendly wardens, excellent shower/toilet block, I even had a bath!. Childrens play area is one of the best we have seen. Large football field. Wardens couldn't be more helpful.

Nice clean & tidy site, friendly staff with small licenced shop offering a limited stock but all the basic essentials - which sold at reasonable prices!
Play area for children similar to a public park, with swings, merry-go-round & helter-skelter. There is another field a short walk away for ball games etc.
One central 'convenience' building which housed a Laundry room and dish washing / veg. prep sinks.
The toilet block had seperate washing cubicles, hot showers and bathroom, the 'down' side to this was the 20p coin slot meters for the hot water (This I assume is to prevent abuse & waste of the hot water, as I found the supply of hot water sufficient).
Mixed pitches from gravel hardstandings to grassed areas, nice level fields that are seperated with trees.

Would recommend this site to other campers. Will be going back.

With this being our first ever camping trip, it was ideal, nice warden, clean toilets and showers, good playground area, and handy for Pickering etc. We were camped in the rally field, very hot as no shade in the middle, but lovely views and quiet. Definately going back - try not to get a pitch near childrens area, as it seemed very noisy, kids, who'd have em eh?

A large site for tourers and tents with modern facilities. The children spent hours in the popular children's play area.
The toilet block is closed for 90 mins every lunchtime for cleaning.
The warden was welcoming.
There is a small football and volleyball area just outside the entrance. The site is qyiet and secluded and ideal for visiting the North York Moors, or the undiscovered chocolate box villages of the Yorkshire Wolds over the border in the East Riding.

This is a fantastic site and I would recommend it to caravaners and campers. Toilet blocks with showers (and a bath in each)are always spotless. Separate blocks for laundry, dish washing and veg. preparation. Good play area for children which closes around 9pm. Surrounded by trees, flowers and high hedges. Resident wardens are always friendly and helpful. Small licensed well stocked shop. Large field for dog exercising with "poop" bins. Plenty of space. Great place to chill out!
