My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The site is very clean and the toilets and showers are cleaned regularly. We found the staff very helpful. We got chatting to other campers in the evening which helps with the holiday feel. The site is a ten minute walk to the pub the Cayley Arms where we had a pleasant evening talking with the landlord and regulars. The main bus route is just in front of the pub we took the bus to the coast and to pickering. We took our bikes with us and had a good cycle along the Marishes just turn right when leaving the site. We also cycled up to dalby forest which you can get to by cycling up the road on the right side of the pub.
We will go back again

What a lovely family site we stayed for a week with our 9 year old and older daughter and partner were in a tent with there 7 year old ,the weather was wet but did not spoil it for us. The showers were lovely and hot we never had to wait even though the site was full. The children's play area was a big hit even though it was very muddy. There is so much to do in the area, we are going back again as we didn't manage to see it all. The pub up the road called the Provedence serves lovely food and has a play area. In Pickering I can recommend the spice 4 you Indian restaurant best ever, also chico pizza, and the fish and chips in Thornton le dale are yummy . Thanks for a lovely week

This site was the choice for our first caravanning holiday. The site was clean, the grassed areas around the caravan pitches were tidy, the shower block was immaculate (is closed for an hour each day in order to be cleaned) and we never had to queue to use the facilities at all. It costs 20p for a 6 minute shower which is long enough to have a good wash. The staff on the site were friendly and there is a play park (which our kids were too old for so we cannot comment) and a well equipped shop.
We visited Scarborough, Pickering and Lightwater Valley but the weather was dreadful so we didn't get out as much as we would have liked.
A couple of bad points were that the site has a LOT (probably 50%) of residential caravanners and we did not get the 'happy camper' type of atmosphere that we expected and secondly, the site was in the middle of nowhere and was not within walking distance of anywhere close by - it is nice to have the opportunity to go out for a walk.

We have just returned from this site.
Very nice pleasant site kids loved the park . Never used the toilets etc like my own comforts.
Shop was not over priced and well stocked although no dog food! my wife forgot it!
Only 1 down side was next to hedge did not mind but had to run my hook up across a muddy road (due to weather) and had lots of cars drive over it so as you can imagine it was a little messy. But all in all will be back next year.

Would recommend this site. We are hoping to return again next week.
Stayed on the rally field alongside our friends - very spacious and level. Had no problems with noise during the evenings.
Playground had a mixture of old and new, but generally provided plenty of things to keep our 4 year old occupied during the day. Very busy during the evening - with lots of children unsupervised.
Certainly wouldn't call the toilet block luxury but compared to other sites well maintained, clean and suitably equipped. Two family bathrooms were particularly good with piping hot free flowing water for £1. Showers OK - some better flow than others. Guess it would be a good idea to swap each day. Very busy after 7am but fine if you are an early bird!
The site could benefit from a larger freezer as we struggled to fit our ice packs in. Clothes washing and pot washing area very good. Shop reasonably equipped and priced although closed during the evening.
Site was very rural but if you don't mind a drive home you can benefit from the tranquil and beautiful location.
Realise I've mentioned a few drawbacks, but would not prevent us from visiting again. Overall very impressed and unless your a grumblebug think you'd find it hard not to enjoy your stay here. Staff were very helpful and willing to resolve any minor issues.

Our second visit to this site, we only booked about 3 weeks ago and accepted a pitch without electric, however on arrival was thankfully given a pitch with electic in a brilliant position. We love this site the facilitites are excellent, particularly the childrens play area's, I also used the launderette which was handy, and the microwave for 20p for 6 minutes. The pitch size is excellent, and the showers for 20p for 5 minutes were lovely and clean, the site has a bath for a £1, although there is nothing close by to walk too, there is lots of points of interest in driving distance, we will definitely be back as soon as possible.

We have just returned from a shortened weekend at this lovely site. Firstly, the site staff are lovely, and very helpful which is great. My son flattened my car battery and the owners were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to help me. The site itself is very well equipped, with a shop, information centre and excellent (not to mention immaculate) toilet and shower facilities. There is a childrens playground which is very well thought out too.
However, now on to the negatives I'm sad to say. The rally field (overflow field) had far too many tents in it and we were in the centre, amongst large groups of people who camped together. More space in between pitches would have been ideal, or pitches around the edge of the field only even better (as other camp sites do). The playground was full of children who's parents obviously preferred to stay at their tents rather than supervise them and they were very boisterous to say the least. My two young children were constantly targeted by these young hooligans every time they tried to get onto any remotely interesting equipment and therefore we avoided the park as a result (I know other people had the same problem).
The parents of these children were one party in particular who caused us to have hardly any sleep as the women in particular insisted on shrieking and cackling until well after 1pm despite there being clearly marked signs of no noise after 11pm. They obviously had no thought at all for anybody around them.
Taking all of this into account we left the next day (a day earlier than booked and paid for) as the thought of a repeat performance was just not worth thinking about. This is such a shame because the site is lovely and definitely caters for families and the people are so very helpful.

We stayed at this site for a long weekend. We had booked in advance, and I would think the site was almost full. We were allocated a marked flat closely mowed pitch in the far corner of the overflow car park / rally field. This field is huge and we could not have been any further away from the toilet block. The toilet block was inadequate for the number of guests- in fact the rally field was so big it warranted its own facilities. The queues for the five womens showers were constant, the showers cost about 40p each, the water was tepid and had a very poor flow. This was not good for me as I rate a good site on the quality of the showers- and for me this was especially important on a cold damp Yorkshire weekend. The hairdryers cost 20p each also and there were no sockets to use your own hairdryer or straighteners! On the + side there were a couple of baths at a cost of £1 for water!
The playground was well equipped, maintained and safe- however we were so far away from it that our children could only use it if we walked over and stayed with them.
There is nothing really close by, but with a car you can visit Scarborough, Pickering, Thornton le Dale and other lovely Yorkshire places- I love the area! The site is superbly positioned, quiet with beautiful scenery, on our first night the sky was so clear- that I was amazed at how many stars I saw- fantastic.
All in all its an Ok site, but I think if the rally field is regularly used- it should have its own toilet blocks, the existing showers and water system need updating, sockets for personal hair stylers need to be put in and the practice of charging for showers and baths needs to be stopped-after all I believe these should be covered by the site fees.

Our second trip here and we were not disappointed. The same high standards were here - flat, well-drained site (despite the rain), excellent standards of cleanliness, friendly staff, and a lovely playground, which we were pleased to see had been upgraded a bit since our last visit. Quiet (except for the playground) and well tended grounds. I never had to queue for a shower, and 20p gives you a good 5 mins or so. Certainly enough for the essentials.
Once again, they exceeded our expectations and despite the sometimes inclement weather, it was a lovely holiday. I especially recommend Staintondale Shire Horse Centre near Scarborough and Rievaulx Abbey. Beautiful.

This was the second time we have visited this site & will no doubt return again. This site is excellent. The staff are friendly, there is a super play ground for the kids & a separate football pitch for ball games. There is also a lovely dog walk. It is an ideal location for visiting the coast, heartbeat country & Dalby forest. Laundry facilities are good & toilet facilities clean with plenty of hot running water.
