Just returned from another enjoyable stay on this lovely site. As I described in a previous review, there is nothing not to like about this site. If you book a pitch on the periphery it is very peaceful too.

Booked 3 tent pitches and asked to be placed near the toilets as my wife is in a wheelchair, the closest pitches were for caravans but we did get a pitch close to the toilets. While I am talking about the toilets I have to say that these was the cleanest toilets/shower/baths I have EVER seen on a campsite. Could not rate the cleaners high enough.
The playground was very good at keeping the children aged between 4 and 12 (and some 35 year olds too).
Didn't use the shop as we were out everyday so just stopped off in Pickering.
The location was perfect, as you walk around the site you keep seeing different beautiful views.

Just had a short notice trip here, absolutely fantastic. Beautiful area, great views. Very quiet at night for a fair-sized site. Facilities as good as I have seen, and a very thoughtful touch being the family shower rooms! Great for our children as the compact but well equipped play area kept them entertained for hours. As good a stocked site shop as I have seen and the staff very pleasant.

Just returned from a five day break. Couldn`t fault anything at all about the site. Good sized level hard standing pitch, plenty of bins for rubbish, shower block and toilets were spotless. We made use of the laundry facilities which eased the burden of washing/drying when we got home. Our nine year old loved the playground. We hardly saw him all holiday. There is a good sized dog walk just off site which came in very handy. The shop is good for basics and all the staff we spoke to were very helpful. The location of the site is excellent. Less than a ten minute drive to the lovely Thornton Le Dale and also Dalby Forest which is a good family day out. Pickering is a fifteen minute drive away. There is a large Lidl and Cooperative in Pickering. (There are a couple of mini supermarkets in Thornton. However they were quite expensive and did not stock a huge range of goods). Whitby is around 30-40 minutes drive away. The nearest pub is half an hour’s walk or a quick drive away. The Providence Inn at Yedingham. It has a good sized beer garden and a little play area. Very good value for money site and an excellent touring base. No hesitation in recommending this site to anyone.

Great site and wish I had visted sooner. Very, very quiet area with no noise during evening night that was bothersome. Noise was very low when we awoke at 9. 30am!
Lovely shower / toilet blocks and enjoyed using them. Playground was ok for son (6 years old) and kept him occupied and so did the playing field with football nets on them just over road.
Only downside I could find (and it's a little one as well) is that the ground was quite soft after it had rained for the day and left tyre marks on it but nothing too much to complain about.
All in all a very good site and would go back.

We booked this site well in advance for the Wartime weekend. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to revise our stay but the friendly staff couldn't have been more helpful. Despite this being a very busy weekend they only charged us for the night we stayed.
Although this site is situated a little further west than we might have liked we thought it worth the drive. The site is very well run. We did have a problem when our fan heater tripped the mains but another visitor on an adjacent pitch advised where the reset button was located a short distance away.
I've saved the best for last - the toilet/shower block is superb. Easily as good as anything the caravan club can offer and better than some they do. Kept in immaculate order too.
We will be returning!

This was our second visit to this site, in fact we chose this site to introduce my in laws to camping! Quiet with no noise after the 11pm curfew. New unisex facilities are fabulous! Huge credit to the campsite. The other facilities are still clean, well stocked and warm.
Play area great, but the field is big enough and not packed in so there is plenty of room for running around anyway. Shop well stocked, helpful staff. The only thing I could say slightly negative is that the hook up is only 6 amp - but we were aware of this before we went.
One morning the owner came to the unit next to us an apologise for some noise from other campers (before we arrived), they had kicked the noisy people off the site! Good to hear they deal with problems swiftly. I would definitely recommend this site and we will go again (many times probably due to being close to home).

With 120 pitches this is not a small site by any means, but it is a very well maintained site. The new shower block is superb and definitely a bonus for the site, having said that the original showers and toilets are great as well and all kept very clean. My only gripe is that the plots are a little close together, so you felt obliged to draw your blinds on one side as you felt as if you were spying on the other caravan. The kids were off school but didn't pose a problem as they had a great play area for them. Would we visit again? Yes we would but probably at a quieter time of the year.

Easy access to this site. Good flat pitches. Immaculate site. The grandkids loved the play facilities and want to return. I quite liked the old tractor they were playing on!
The toilets and showers were clean but they were still under construction. (some of it)
I think this is an above average site and would recommend it.
We will be back soon.

Love this site and have been quite a few times. For a tent, its great the amount of space you have on the main tent field. Theres only 2 negative things I can say, one which has been mentioned before, facilities are cleaned each lunch time, and are lovely, but, by late evening and early morning its very off putting to see loads of grass trod in the toilets and showers, ( as it is cut all the time ) although a mop and bucket are left, maybe some staff member could either check later in the evening, or, leave a normal brush and small bin for some people like myself who would sweep after them. I found my walking boots trod quite a bit of grass in, and I felt awful.
Another little gripe was, wanted to book for later in the season and a non-refundable £30 deposit was required for each pitch, for 2 nights stay. Total was only £39. I understand the site has to make money, but sometimes people are ill, or things happen and you genuinely cannot come. So I was reluctant to pay such a deposit, but had no choice if I wanted to book. No other site that I use does this.
