Booked this site as it was not to far for our 1st trip in our caravan. Arrived on site and was greeted in reception by a very friendly lady, she showed me where our pitch was, and explained the best and easiest way to get to it. She also apologised for the building work that was overrunning, a new addition to the shower block that will have underfloor heating.
The site is immaculate, and very level, with well set out pitches. There is a very small shop selling basics like bread, milk etc and rock pegs, you will need these if putting up an awning, or tent. The security barrier is shut and locked at 11. 30pm, so if you are back after that time, you are asked to park you car in the layby opposite the entrance.
This site is in a fantastic place and ideal for visiting Pickering, which is a lovely market town, We found an awsome bakery, with pies to kill for( both meat and fruit)! There are also a few dog friendly pubs that serve food. It is also good for Scarborough and Whitby, as well as other attractions like Castle Howard, Flamingo land to name a couple.
We will be returning without any doubt.

What a fantastic site, good area, spotlessly clean toilets and showers and a well laid out site with plenty of room. Would love to return there and a playground my Grandson would adore.
I can't praise it enough, thank you what a welcome change it makes!
Great for getting to Pickering for the steam trains, and the lovely village of Thornton-le Dale, plus a super ride up to the moors for fantastic views.
The only thing missing is a nice pub to walk to!

Just had 3 days at vale of Pickering in a tent. It was a lovely site, very clean and well kept with lots of flowers n baskets everywhere. The park for the kids is very good, my 8 yr old granddaughter loved it. The shower and toilet block is the best I have come across 6 showers 2 baths 5 wash cubicles and 2 vanity units with hairdryers and 8 toilets in the ladies. All spotless every time I went in.
The location is superb and I would highly recommend it to anyone with or without young children. We will definitely return.
All in all the best site we have been to 10\10.

The Vale of Pickering is a small-medium sized site, predominantly occupied by caravans, situated in Allerston - five miles from Pickering and eleven miles from Scarborough. It is ideally located to explore the east coast of Yorkshire.
The staff are very friendly at Reception, in the shop and around the site.
The pitch size is very generous with ample room around the tent and the grass was well tended despite the recent rain. The surrounding site is well looked after with the grass cut daily and flowers watered regularly.
The campsite is serviced by a small shop which orders in daily papers (which you order the day before). The shop is officially open from 09:00 in the morning until 7:00 pm (8:00pm at weekends) however it was usually open outside of these hours. The goods were reasonably priced for a small campsite shop. There is a large Morrisons in Malton, a medium size Tesco in Scarborough and a Lidl and Co-op in Pickering.
The site is very child friendly with an excellent play area and a small football pitch. The play area is a natural meeting place for the kids who soon make friends. There is a 10 mph speed limit around the campsite which is adhered to. The rules stipulate that noise should be limited after 11:00pm but it was very peaceful after 9:00pm.
The campsite is dog-friendly and although we are not 'dog people' the site was very clean and spotless and there was no noisy or exuberant dogs around the park (very responsible owners).
If you don't have kids, there are plenty of pitches away from the play area.
The laundry room has two washing machines (£3), two tumble driers (£1. 50) and iron/ironing board (free), a freezer for ice packs (free) and a microwave (20p for 5 minutes).
There are ample shower cubicles and wash basins with plenty of hot water.
Although there is no option for wi-fi, the signal is excellent
The electric hook-up for tents is only 6 amps (suitable for small electrical items) but this is well advertised.
There were only two negatives about this campsite and both relate to the toilet/shower block.
Because the grass is mowed on a daily basis and the cuttings are left, there is a tendency for the grass to be traipsed into the toilet/shower block. As the block is only cleaned each day at 11:30, the floor looks messy which is unappealing when showering in the morning.
The showers work on a 'push button' basis however the water only sprays for 10-15 seconds.
Overall, this is a really good campsite and one I would return to when returning to Yorkshire but with a couple of small improvements, it could be a great campsite.

Just come back from a week end here, we will return next season.
Toilet/ shower block very high standards excellent very clean.
Friendly staff on arrival
It's a excellent site for a base.
If your going without children I would ask to be far away from play area as this gets very busy and noisy, which we were thank god.
As we don't go with children now as ours are grown up.
Our dogs loved it special one of ours enjoyed going through the beck

Just spent a lovely week at this campsite. Facilities were well kept and clean. Only had to queue for shower for 10 mins one morning. Childrens play area very good as are all facilities. Would recommend visit to Eden Camp (ex WWII Prisoner of War Camp, York - about an hour away (use park and ride was good value), Dalby Forest was beautiful. Scarborough was unfortunately like a lot of our seaside towns - run down. Filey also nice. Can't wait to visit again. Would definitely recommend.

This was our 3rd visit to the site, we stayed at the site over the August Bank Holiday. We stayed in the rally field, which is large, it got very busy but not over crowded.
The toilet/shower block is spotless, plenty of hot water, they even have a bath which costs £1. The pot wash room is good, lots of sinks.
The kids loved the playground, and the site felt safe enough to let them go on there own but we gave them Walkie Talkies.
Plenty too do in the local area, Scarborough is great and only about 1/2 hour drive. Visited Castle Howard, they had a family day with free things for everyone to do. Dalby Forest is nice and has walks, mountain bike trails and 'Go Ape'
Will be going back.

Just come back from a weeks camping trip on this site. Excellent facilities and always maintained to a high standard. Plenty of room in the field for camping. Was very busy by the time we left on the Saturday but due to the amount of room you were never crammed in. Only issue was on the Friday night somebody decided to let their dog mess on the grass near to the amenities and for some reason couldn't be bothered to clear up. Would recommend this site to friends and would use this site again. Well situated for trips out to Scarborough and other surrounding areas.

I stayed for 3 nights at the Vale of Pickering. I found the facilities excellent. The washing up sinks are inside with hot water, unlike some other sites I have seen. I camped in the rally field, the occupied pitches were nicely spread out so I was not on top of other tents. Although the main site was fairly full, I found it to be reasonably quiet and peaceful. There is a small children's playground on site which seemed well used and I suspect noisy if pitched near to it. The site itself is quite remote, but there are several attractions nearby, North Yorkshire moors railway, Flamingo land, Heartbeat country and the coast. For walkers there is plenty of beautiful scenery in the moors nearby.
