This is a lovely site. The area for tents is at the rear of the park and was kept very clean and tidy, and we were nicely sheltered from the wind. The toilet / shower block was extremely clean at all times. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome. There was a small shop (which we didn't visit) and a good sized children's play area. There is plenty of room on each pitch and all around the site, with room for children to play and not disturb others. Whilst at the site, visited nearby Dalby Forest (was well worth the toll fare to access the visitors centre, walks, picnic areas, viewing points).

This was a really nice site. We received a warm welcome even though it was after 7pm when we got there. The pitches all had lots of space so you were not disturbed by neighbours and they are well sheltered. The facilities were very clean and there is a nice children's play area. Good location for tourist attractions in the area. Will go again!

This is a very good site which we used as a weekend away venue. We found it a good base point for a visit to Flamingo land and Eden camp. The site is setup very similar to a Caravan club site. The pitches were very well spaced and the toilets were very clean. The electric was reliable and the staff very friendly and professional. The play area on site is sufficient to entertain young children for an hour or so after a busy day out and then to bed for a silent nights sleep. A Good weekend stop for local attractions. Very clean, organised, and friendly. We plan on returning this year.

We spent the new year at this site - brilliant. The whole site was decorated and lit up and they had xmas carols playing through the speakers, lovely. We stayed there again while visiting the 1940's weekend at Pickering, again brilliant. They had the site trimmed with union jacks and played Glen Miller through the speakers. This site put a lot of thought into organising events and do it very well. The site itself is lovely, large pitches, clean showers and toilets, handy dog walk area, and a play area for the kids. Going again in a couple of weeks.

23rd April 2003 I thought this site was OK but far too cramped for my liking. There are no ball games in the main site - you have to go outside to another field which was too far away for the young kids to go on their own. The toilets and showers were very clean but you have to pay 20p for a shower - the water is hot though. The kids playground is a playground, no sand pit or woody stuff, more like your town playground.

Great family site - large play area and big sports field with football goals. Really friendly and helpful staff. Well stocked shop - not too bad prices and open all day every day. Showers were 20p but were not very powerful, possible because they were really busy and all in use.It was bank holiday so there was queues for the showers even though there was about 7 showers and 2 baths.Toilets and showers were clean and washed regularly. Laundry room with iron and ironing board(not that we used that!).Also a freezer and microwave to use.
We went to Scarborough for the day(about 10 miles away) and also Pickering and Helmsley one day. There is a pub along the road - about 1.5 miles which also does meals.
All in all a very good weekend and would definitely recommend.

Just got back from 4 days at the vale of pickering and would definitely go again. We were on the rally field which only had tents around the edge so there was a HUGE space for the kids to play in the middle without getting in anyone's way. The shower blocks were spotless and the showers hot. The play area was great too. The whole site was clean and tidy and not a bit noisy. The shop is open long hours and is extremely well-stocked. The site is a great base for visiting the coast and there are beautiful little villages nearby. We did the steam railway and Scarborough, calling in at York on the way home. I imagine it would get busy, so would book in advance.

Had a fantastic night here. Facilities were excellent, very impressed with shower block (wet and dry area, so you don't end up with grass and mud everywhere), plenty of them. Plenty of pitch space so didn't feel squashed in as you do at other sites. Good play area for children. More sign posting required on roads heading towards site as we had a little difficulty finding it (and so did our sat nav). Definitely visit again soon.

Spend 6 nights on this site as part of our family holiday. The site is well laid out and has excellent facilities. The site is split into two main areas one for the caravans and some tents the other is called the rally field and is for tourers and tents. The main area for caravans is sectioned off with trees and is very well maintained. The rally field is very large field surrounded by an embankment and is situated about 100 - 200 yards from the shower toilets etc. A bit far when the kids get 'desperate'! The shower and toilet blocks are clean and warm, with plenty of hot water all day long. There are also baths in both the mens and ladies blocks which helps if you have kids. Only down side to this was the charge of 20p for a set length of time under the shower. This is fine if like me you are nearly bald but not if like my wife you have long hair. She had to pay at least 40p per shower. The play park is excellently equipped with slides, climbing frames swings round about etc and is located at the front of the site. The only down side of this was the park was nearly 200 yards from our tent so if the younger children went to play on it we had to go with them. The shop is very well stocked and carries a most essentials and a quite a few other items. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we were shown to our pitch. However after that you did not see them and this is something that could be improved upon. The ground was hard but this may have been due to the baked conditions of the ground rather than rocky or stony ground. We had plenty of rain during our visit and the ground did not puddle and the water soon dried up. Our visit was cut short following a gale and three days of heavy rain but we had an excellent time. A word to parents however if it does rain there is nothing on the site or in the surrounding area to do with the kids. What there is, is expensive and some distance from the site. Over all this site is excellent however im not sure that we would return to it, not because the site is no good but that we have seen the things in that area we want to see. I would however recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in that part of Yorkshire.

What a great campsite! This was a first for us, camping as a family, and it was really good. The staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and the whole site was spotless! Toilets, showers and baths were clean (20p for showers, baths and hairdryers) and there were enough, although a bit of a queue around 8 am, and very busy after teatime with little ones getting washed. The water was always hot enough, and you get a good five minutes for your money.
The dishwashing and laundry facilities were useful, and always clean, and seldom a queue. The adventure playground was great, and always in use, but always dark and empty by 10.30, with silent time from 11.00, which on the whole was kept to.
The little information hut was useful, and anything that was not in there, you could always ask the lady in reception! The Cayley Arms in Allerston does a brilliant, reasonably priced pub meal (we went back twice) and the on-site shop was surprisingly well stocked and reasonably priced.
The site is in a really good location in farmland, a short distance from York, Scarborough, Filey, Whitby, Pickering, Malton, etc and this makes it a great centre for touring. The midges were at bay thanks to well-tended grounds, and the trees attracted lots of birds, so be prepared for squabbling starlings at 5.30am! There are worse noises to wake up to!
We were really delighted by this campsite, and it has encouraged us to keep on camping! The only thing I would say is that if you are looking for a quiet camping holiday, this is not the site for you! If you have kids, or are young at heart, this is definitely the place for you!
