Fab site, clean & tidy with good size pitches with our own water tap. Lot of bins around the site so didn't have to walk far with rubbish. Had cold showers one morning when the boiler broke down, but was fixed by lunch time. Even when the site was full at the weekend never had to queue for showers or toilets. As well as the dog walking field they also have a woodland walk.
Would definitely return and recommend to anyone.

This was our first family camping trip and it was excellent. The children loved the playground and the parents loved the whole family atmosphere. The showers were free and clean and there was always hot water, there are also two baths, which are £1, but there was plenty of hot water for that and this was great for cleaning three very excited children.
The pitches were really big, and you didn't feel as if you were on your neighbours doorstep.
The staff couldn't have been any more helpful, we needed something after the shop had closed, but we asked in reception and the girl allowed us to buy what we needed.
We can't wait to go back!

Stayed here for 4 nights over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend: myself, DH & 2 kids aged 4 and 6. Overall, we were very happy with the site.
We were pitched in the far corner of the site next to the hedge (no hook-up). Think we got one of the last pitches, but we were pleasantly surprised, as this is probably where we'd have chosen had it not been pre-allocated! It was set back slightly from the caravan / motorhome pitches (which suited us), but still not far to walk to the toilet block / shop, etc.
Only bad point about this was someone arrived on the EHU pitch opposite with a large tent a couple of days into our stay (ours is a 6-berth dome tent and not particularly small either) and we did feel a little like we were on top of each other. Looked like this was the only EHU along the field so I guess we were just unlucky. I think perhaps the owners should have just had one tent in that space, or one large tent & one smaller - but then I guess we may not have got a pitch!
Toilet block absolutely fine, showers & hairdryers free and all cleaned regularly. Only had to queue once for the showers (this was around 8-8.30 am), but even then, was only for about 10 minutes max. Signs in showers requesting that they be mopped after use, and everyone seemed to adhere to this.
Good washing-up facilities: plenty of hot water and think there were 8 sinks plus a central island bit to put your pots etc on. Didn't use the laundry facilities but they looked perfectly fine & not too busy.
Children's playground was spot-on: my kids would have happily spent the whole weekend there! Best play area I've seen yet on a campsite.
Shop - only used it twice: once for suncream and once for butane gas canisters that we had somehow lost from the kitchen box! Reasonably priced - would have been nice if it opened at 8 but that's just me being picky!
Owners / wardens were very friendly and helpful - in fact the general vibe on the site was warm and friendly. Lots of children around.
Would agree with the previous poster who said the only downside was the location - with small children, you do really need to use the car to get anywhere. Would have been nice to be able to walk to a pub for Sunday lunch!
Lots to do in the area - we went to Dalby Forest, Robin Hood's Bay, Pickering Castle, Ryedale Folk Museum and Whitby (on the NYM Steam Railway from Pickering) - all in all a lovely weekend!
Flamingo Land also very close but we gave that one a miss (£82 for a family ticket - ouch!)
Would recommend to anyone with a car!

Our first outing in the tent this year and we are so pleased we chose this campsite. It was spotlessly clean and tidy. Showers and toilets very clean and refreshing, the ladies even had bouquets of flowers hanging.
Park was great for the kids.
Only downside was that both toilets (males and females) closed at 11 for an hour to be cleaned. Obviously this is a wonderful job but it is a long time when you have small children.
Overall great campsite and one we would definitely return to.

We have just got back from the Bank Holiday weekend. We loved this site. It was well organised and very clean. The kids loved the play area and the football field. The staff were very friendly too. There is nothing negative I could say about the site!

Just returned from a five night visit.
Excellent site, very clean and tidy. Showers could do with a temperature control too hot for my liking, other than that very clean.
All hard standing though and we prefer grass, but after purchasing some different pegs we were able to secure the awning.
The only real downside for us was, you cannot walk to anything, it is a car ride away.
Would go back again.

Our first visit to the Vale of Pickering and we were very impressed with the site as a whole.
We were late to book up for Easter Weekend and had to take one of the Pitches at the back hedge without a hookup. It was very pleasant and peaceful over there and I would suggest that if you don't mind having no electric then its the best area of the park as its a little separated from the main area by a tree line. Having said that its not too far out of the way and still a short walk to the Amenities Block. The park is also very good indeed and our two children gave it a big thumbs up too.
For 2009 they have dropped the 20p charge for the shower block too, so no longer do you need a bag full of 20p pieces. So a big plus point for 2009 for the Vale.
We only spent the one night at the site and found it to be very well kept and clean.
Will definitely be returning again.

This site is brilliant, as we approached we noticed at the side of the road there where well kept lawns, flowers where in full bloom they looked very good indeed.
Reception was very good, the lady made us very welcome, she marked our pitch on a map for us pointed us in the righr direction and also asked if we needed any help setting up, what more do you want this was great. The small shop kept the main items you need whilst camping.
Shower block was first class everything you required, always very very clean, plenty of hot water.
The pitches are of a good size and flat.
We will definitely be going back to this site

I have just been reading reviews for this site and felt I had to add a comment. We also stayed in the rally field over the bank holiday weekend in our van and yes it was very crowded and muddy but to be fair all the sites in the area were flooded so they were at full capacity and at the end of the day if you choose to go caravanning/camping in england you should expect some dirt!
The staff couldn't have been more helpful and every time I went over to the toliet block one of the ladies were in there cleaning up the mud. The fact that is was muddy and lots of big puddles made our weekend even better as our children had new wellies!
The only drawback for us was a couple of miserable residential campers whose sole purpose seemed to be to make 'the tourers' lives miserable but a big smile and a 'pleased to meet you too' seemed to shut them up!
We will definitely be going back again - 20 minutes away from flamingo land too which was a great day out (and used tesco points to pay - bonus).

We have just come back from our first visit and cant wait to go back next year. We chose this site after reading reviews on this website and it definitely came up to our expectations. The showers, toilets etc were excellent and we didn't mind the 20p charge as they were the best we have come across yet,not like some sites where they are quite grubby.
We were pitched on the middle field with electric, nicely lit and very flat, plenty of room all round for our large tent.
Our children aged 5 and 7 loved the park which was very well equipped. We found this site a great base for all the local attractions. We liked the information centre on site some great ideas, the shop was well equipped and reasonably priced.Excellent site and definitely going back next year!
