Lovely little site. Clean & well kept with very friendly & helpful staff. Great playground for the little ones, beautiful surroundings. Some lovely little touches such as the visiting newspaper van, fish & chip van (1815hrs on Saturdays), book/magazine exchange, lucky dip bags of sweets for kids in the shop, flowers in the toilet block. Only downside would be the fact that you need a car to get anywhere as it's fairly remote. Dalby Forest highly recommended for cycling, but get there early to get a parking place. Check the internet for discount vouchers to save on the entry price. Overall, one of the best sites we've visited. Recommended.

Just arrived back from one weeks holiday at one of the best sites we have ever stayed on. We were struggling to fault it, so much so that we have even left the van there for another 2 weeks. Spotless facilities even when the weekend was busy. Nice and peaceful during the week and fun to see everyone arriving for the weekend. Staff are brilliant and the shop was very useful. Being the owner of 2 golden retrievers, it was more than useful to have a 6 acre dog field as well as many brilliant dog friendly off site walks to explore. The surrounding area is beautiful, from picture postcard villages to the excellent seaside areas on the east coast. All in all, a brilliant friendly site to suit all tastes.

Really well located site for visiting local area with lots of attractions and things to do in local area.
Site toilet block is well maintained and looked after although very small with limited showers. Busy summer months can lead to long queues.
Site has lots of hand standing pitches although beware caravans and tents are mixed throughout the site.
Children's play area is really good and maintained well, located on a quite safe area of the site.
Did not get a friendly welcome and had a really bad experience on site through an extremely badly trained member of staff in customer relations.
Sorry but for the above incident would not return which is a shame. Could be a great site if managed correctly.

Having recently upgraded from tent to caravan we chose this site for the hardstanding pitches and being open still in November. As we did not want to tow in the dark, I asked if we could arrive early Saturday and depart late Sunday. This was not a problem and no oportunity was taken by the site to take an early arrival or late departure fee. We were greeted on arrival by the warden, allocated a pitch and left to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a beautiful crisp autumnal weekend. Heated shower block one of the best I've seen. Super park too. Less than 5 miles from Dalby forest and not much further to Pickering. The site was preparing for Christmas and if the weather is kind to us we hope to return to see this beautiful part of the world ready for the festive season, and if not then definitely next year.

Very well kept site majority of pitches were seasonal campers. Not much in shop but that's because of the tme of year. Had mile to walk to nearest bus stop where we went to pickering nice town with plenty of shops and the railway. Went to thornton le dale with it's thatched cottage well worth a visit. Pubs allow dogs which was good had nice meal. Came back from day out to find grass had been cut so the electric cable had been pulled out and not put back in not just with our motorhome but with caravans as well so beware to check when grass been cut.
Toilets and showers very clean all the time. Nice site but don't think will return as too far if you have to walk for a bus not safe walking if you have small children no pathways, or like us with a dog. Lovely play area for children.

Great site, the location is perfect for visiting north Yorkshire moors or other coastal towns such as Scarborough Whitby or Bridlington. The toilets and washrooms are fantastically clean and the whole site is maintained to a high standard. The shop is small but ideal for basic essentials. The information hut was really useful for local places to eat and visit. The children's play area was clean and well maintained and entertained our grandsons of 5 and 1 1/2 for several hours. Great family location and would definitely come again.

Just got back from a few nights on here and thought I would put a few words down about the site, The staff were very helpful and friendly. The amenity block is spotless and also the washing up area is very large and again very clean. The pitches were worn but this is to be expected after all the rain we have had and did drain well. The shop is well stocked and papers can be ordered in advance. It is close to the North Yorkshire moors steam railway and for the more energetic Dalby Forest(great walks and cycle routes). If we have one gripe it is there are a lot of touring caravans which are permanently pitched so it seemed very 'clicky', the kids all seemed to go around in little packs and the language could be a bit ripe which, when you have little ones we don't want them to be subjected to in the play area. Other wise well worth a visit.

We have used the Vale of Pickering for the past 10 years. The site is extremely clean, the facilities are second to none. Site is well kept, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we will not be visiting again, as they have dropped the amps from 10 to 6 for tents, and will not allow electrical heaters for tents, or fan heaters for caravans if they use them in awnings, only gas heaters are permitted. As a tent who only uses electricity, we wouldn't be able to even boil the kettle. Anyway having said that it is a super site, but alas I feel they are turning tents away.

First impressions were a bit iffy. We were allocated a pitch and when we got to the field we found we'd been sandwiched between two tents in a corner, when there were plenty of pitches available around three other edges of the field. However, when we asked if we could pitch in some clear space we were told it was no problem.
The facilities are really good. The shower room / toilet block is spotless and the pot washing facility is spacious and very well kept. There is a great little information hut and the reception / shop staff are very helpful and friendly. The boys loved the playground, especially the tractor! Oh and the local bacon is delicious!
The camp field is a little boggy at the entrance, but with the recent rainfall it's not surprising. The field is very level, the ground is not at all bumpy, and all facilities are a very short walk away
Lovely quiet location. Would come back with no hesitation.

Last minute booking at this site and may I say well worth it.
Showers were fantastic, always clean and fresh as were the toilets. The site was spotless at all times, bins emptied all the time so no rubbish left about.
Pitches were very spacious. Although there were just the two of us (adults), the facilities for children looked excellent and all the children looked to be enjoying themselves. Although there were a lot of children on the site it was still very quiet and none of the children seemed to bother anyone.
Staff were very helpful and friendly at all times.
If you want an excellent meal try the Fox & Rabbit on the Whitby road at Lockton as recommended by one of the staff at the camp site.
Would certainly use this site again especially as it is an ideal base for trips to the coast, York, Dalby Forest and delightful local villages.
