This is the second time we have visited this site, first time was in a tent in 2011 and this time in a caravan. The site is easy to get to from the A19 and on arrival we got a friendly welcome. The site itself is in a dissused quary so there are different levels for campers, caravaning. The kids ages 9, 7, 6 love it, There is a good park with 3 areas to play. All pitches seem to be hard standing unless your in a tent and all seem to be pretty level with EHU.
The first time there the showers where great nice and hot however this time they were only luke warm and there was only hot water in one shower block but they where aware of this and I did see a plumber attending (first day of the season), both blocks where imaculate and doors are coded, ther is a small shop in reception selling all the basic you could need.
First time there we left the site and went for a meal at a local pub on the road to northalleton (the pear tree) do not go, it was nasty so be warned.
There also is a resivour near by and good walks our dog loved the water and wood.
Overall this is a lovely site and in a great location I would advise friends and family to visit this site.

Having stayed at this site several times, I decided to try a part-seasonal pitch and keep my caravan on site for a couple of months.
Wardens are friendly & offered to help if I encountered any problems setting up. Reception also houses a small shop which stocks essentials like bread, milk, eggs, soft drinks, kids sweets etc.
The site is spotlessly clean and litter free. There are 2 toilet blocks, both of which are kept vey clean, the showers have underfloor heating & free hairdryers. There is also a family bathroom with a bath & family/disabled shower room.
There is a laundry room with washer/dryer/iron/ironing board & also a drying room for wet coats & boots if needed. An information room & pot washing area are also available, along with a waste/chemical disposal area which is also vey clean.
There are 2 playparks for children & a stream that runs through the site that the children seem to enjoy paddling in.
Site has tent & touring pitches with electric & also some with astro turf & hardstanding.
No noise permitted after 10pm and the wardens walk round to make sure this rule is adhered to, and will politely ask you to keep the noise down if necessary.
Just outside the main entrance past the Youth Hostel is a footpath to Cod Beck Reservoir which is a lovely walk and has picnic benches scattered around it. The village is about 15 minutes walk uphill and once there you can find 3 pubs, a cafe, outdoor shop, post office, village hall & a chip shop which is currently closed. Northallerton is about 10 minutes drive away and offers many popular shops, Morrissons, Boots, New Look, Barkers, Wh Smith, banks, charity shops, and a large children's play park.
Market days are wednesday & saturday, and parking is 2 hours free with disc in High St, or 80p for 2 hours behind High St. There is also a large leisure centre with swimming pool in the town.
All in all, we have spent the last few weekends in a beautiful setting & look forward to many more stays at this lovely site now our caravan is pitched there for a while.

Stayed for 2 nights, Monday and Tuesday and had an excellent time.
The £20 per night fee seemed a little expensive but there is no more to pay, showers, ironing and electric pitch included. There is aslo a laundry and wi-fi should you want to use it.
The facilities are excellent, clean and warm and always monitored.
There have been some comments on this site being a muddy field, well it is after all a camp site so expect the grass to be a bit 'torn up'. Cars are allowed to be parked next to your tent so muddy patches are inevitable. Whilst we were there we didn't think it was anything to worry about, well kept grass and the pitches are a good size, better than most actually. The owners are trying to improve the pitches by laying down Astro-turf. This works well but be aware the ground will still be wet if it's been raining.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The shop is a little pricey and stock useful items from sleeping bags to tins of beans.
Overall a very worthy site close to fantastic country side and local towns and village's. Friendly locals and decent pubs and restaurants.
A return visit will be on the cards very soon.

My family stayed here for the weekend 12th August 2011. Our friends also stayed in 2 other tents and the staff on site were able to accommodate us close to each other. We stayed in our tent and were pitched close to shower block/toilets and washing pot area which was ideal for the children. The pitch we were allocated was a pitch of mud but our friends had artificial grassed pitch to put tent on.
The site was immaculate, the showers were hot and had under floor heating, they were also cleaned regularly. The on site small shop was well stocked and our children enjoyed going to the shop alone to buy sweets (all children were under 10 years).
The site has 2 small play areas for children and a stream. Lots of children playing together at play area. Children had to be in for 10pm, the site was always quiet after 10pm.
We walked into Osmotherley for fish and chips and later walked up to Cod Beck through the Woods and back along the road to the Site.
We really enjoyed our stay, it cost £56 for 2 night as we took electric hook up even though we didn't use it. We also took our little dog Seth. Staff are keen to remind owners that Dogs are to be kept on leads.
I would definitely recommend this site to families with young children.

Spent 2 nights here in early August. The site is situated in a valley & has steep roads in/out of the site, and most of the paths within the site are quite hilly - however, the pitches are quite flat. Signal for mobile phones is almost non existent!
We were on a pitch just opposite the play area, along with just one other tent - the pitches were huge & certainly did not feel cramped in any way. There was a patch of artificial grass under where our tent was & this helped keep the bottom of our tent mud free. Despite torrential downpours for most of our stay, the ground seemed to drain very well.
The 2 small play grounds are separated by the stream, over which has been built a bridge for the children to cross. It has metal grid type flooring which is great for the kids to see through, but the kids made quite a noise when running back & forth over it. There was also quite a drop down & the sides were quite low for my liking & should be raised higher to prevent someone from falling over the side.
The shop is very small & has the usual basics, milk, bread & sweets! A few gift ideas & toys but not a lot else.
The 2 toilet/shower blocks were immaculate and had nice finishing touches like fresh flowers on the sink units & window sills. Plentiful hot water & free hairdryers too. The staff were also very friendly & polite.
Overall a nice little site - a great base to explore the surrounding area but not the type of site you could spend your whole holiday on.

We Stayed for two nights (Thursday-Saturday) in the Summer. This was our first camping trip, so picked this site as its not too far from home in case it wasn't to be unsuccessful one!
On arrival we were given a warm welcome, given a map to show us to our pitch, which was an EHU pitch over the bridge and towards the far end of the field. It was a lovely grassy spacious pitch which we had all too ourselves, until the Friday afternoon, where a mass influx of tents and families arrived for the weekend.
The site soon filled up, we felt our neighbours were far too close for comfort!
On the day we packed up it was whole water, what an experience, especially for our first time, but we managed.
Osmotherley is a lovely Village, which was about 15 mins walk from the site, there's a good chippy and small village shop, also there is a lovely walk around the Cod Beck Reservoir. We found the Site to be very well kept, with excellent toilet/shower and washing up facilities, also very secure with there being a barrier at the entrance, in which you need to punch a code into to gain access (same with the Toilet block)
Overall its a great choice

Just spent five nights here, nice site, clean facilities and very peaceful. Be warned the site is quite hilly when walking around, although the pitches all seem to be pretty level. We were on a pitch beyond the stream so the walk back to both amenity blocks was longer than I liked sometimes first thing in the morning!
10pm quiet deadline, and even though five minutes earlier I could still hear kids squealing in the playground, just after 10 and it was truly quiet. Was a bit concerned that a fire went unchecked though at one caravan when signs clearly say no fires.
There is a barrier at the entrance that is locked between 11pm and 7am. My husband took our dog for a walk to find the reservoir, but clearly went the wrong way cos he never found it!
Fish and chips from the shop in Osmotherley was very nice, never used the shop on site so can't comment on that.
Northallerton is a nice place and there are Nettos, Morrison's, Sainsbury's and Tesco's there so plenty of food shopping outlets and a must is Fatso's sandwich shop on the high street, really lovely sandwiches. For anyone who likes charity shops this is a positive mecca - 7 down the main street, my daughter was in her element.
Would probably go back again at some point.

We stayed for 10 nights in early June. A very pleasant quiet site with clean, well maintained facilities. Not the cheapest but showers, hair driers and even an iron are all in the price. We stayed on a hard standing pitch at the furthest point from the entrance, the pitch was ok for us but a caravan with awning would have been quite close to “next door”.
The site was very quiet during the week as there appear to be a lot of seasonal caravans (about 20 - 25) which made the weekends a lot busier. To be fair, I never saw more than 2 people queuing for the showers which are housed in two amenity blocks both of which were beautifully clean regardless of what time of day it was.
The location is stunning with many local walks starting within a short distance of the site. There is a local walks guide available for about £2 from the site shop or several places in Osmotherly village. The village has a shop which is well stocked and the staff are very welcoming. 3 pubs, a chip shop, a café and an outdoor pursuits shop are all available. Northallerton is the nearest town and has a good range of shops including a Morrison’s supermarket, several banks and building societies, and a branch of yeomans for outdoor needs. There are a couple of other outdoor stores but they appear to be more for clothing.
Pickering and Whitby are within reasonable driving distance and well worth a visit. Just along the coast from Whitby are two lovely villages, Staithes and Runswick bay. Well worth a visit and very quiet when we went, which was not surprising, as a local told us about 80% of the houses are holiday homes.
We went on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and were disappointed; most of the stunning scenery is hidden by the trackside trees along the route and at £16 a ticket, there are better and much cheaper ways to see the scenery. Eden Camp near Malton is a great day out, very good value and you need around 4 hours to see it all.
Nice site, nice area, going back later in the year to see the bits we didn’t have time for.

A beautiful site in a great location. Very close to Osmotherley but a nice private site. Stayed Tues-Sat in late June. Probably about 40:60 ratio of tents:caravans when we were there.
Many pitches semi-sheltered by trees (great for a tent), most very flat- although the site is in a valley so expect to do a little walking up and downhill as you move around it!
Nicely spaced pitches- plenty of room between them, and they were marked clearly so everyone knew where to go. We were surprised to see astroturf marking some tent spaces- apparently this is an innovation for this year after last year turned the grass into a mudbath!
It seemed to work extremely well in keeping things tidy and dry but take a mallet to hammer in your pegs!
Very good facilities- plenty of loos and (free) showers, very clean and well-stocked with paper all the time. A couple of family bathrooms- good for bathing tiny children- and scorching hot water in the pot wash.
Lots of thoughtful touches- stool for the kids in the toilets so they can reach the basins, mops to clean the shower after you've used it, fresh flowers all over the place, clippy hooks for dogs in useful places where you might need to tether a pooch.
Two well-equipped play areas for kids, plus a stream for them to mess about in. Small shop which seemed to sell most essentials, and WiFi available over most of the site. Mobile coverage seemed pretty good.
The site has a few sensible rules which most people seemed to stick to- dogs on leads at all times, quiet between 10pm and 8am, that sort of thing.
We found the site to be very quiet for weekday evenings but things were a little livelier on the Friday night when the weekenders arrived- obviously this comment is more about the clientèle than the site, and everyone seemed to be a nice bunch while we were there.
However I think someone did tell the kids to quieten down about 10. 30pm as they seemed to stop rather abruptly! It is definitely a family site where kids can ride their bikes and play in the stream together, but one which appeals to those who appreciate a quiet, civilised time away from noisy flashing plastic things!

Just come back after a weekend on this site, the facilities are nice and clean although they are a walk from the quiet area of the site.
It seems a very dog friendly site as every other person seemed to have at least one some had up to 3. Although it didn't cause a problem. There are signs to say 'no fires, and quiet after 10.00' which I didn't think would happen as it was quite noisy, however at 10.04 silence descended and it was bliss.
I would however, if you are going to book this site, book a hard standing as it was very very muddy.
It is a bit pricey as you have to pay for all the extras like an awning etc. , so it worked out about £25. 00 per night for 2 of us.
