Visited this site end of April, booking in very organised, given a map of pitches and amenities and allocated pitch number. All pitches appear to have electric hook up if required. The site is split into areas for tourers, tents and a few static caravans, laid out on different levels. Some pitches are small, but pitches seem to be allocated to tent size.
Two amenity blocks, cleaned regularly, showers push button type, did not stay on very long. Free use of hairdryer and socket for your own appliance. Well thought out with step stools so youngsters could reach the sinks.
Wash up area outside with three sinks, laundry area and drying room. Local information booklet in laundry area.
Childrens play park at lower level, a stream runs through the site but is fenced off. Small shop at reception.
Site about 15 mins walk into Osmotherly, three pubs, village store, fish and chip shop.
Well cared for site, would definitely go back.

This was our first camping trip, so have nothing to compare it to, however, we found the site very pleasant, with friendly and helpful staff.
Toilets/showers/washing up facilities were very clean with plentiful (very) hot water.
Osmotherly is only a 10 minute walk away where you can find a small village store and 3 pubs. The Three Tuns does an excellent sunday lunch, and also allow dogs in.
Northallerton is 7 miles away if you need a supermarket and other regular high street stores.
Even though the weather was miserable we really enjoyed our stay and cant wait to go again!

Lovely site, very friendly and helpful staff.
Large well kept pitches. Washrooms immaculate and warm. Showers free as is use of hairdryer and power point for your own. (Nice to visit a site where everything is not at an added cost.)
Lovely area for walking. Loads dog walks directly from site around Cod Beck reservoir, through woods and onto moors if you wish.
Village is lovely and an easy walk from the site. Very good fish and chips. Pubs friendly, though night we booked dinner at Queen Catherine the food was a bit disappointing, suspect chefs night off.

Just been for a few days at this lovely site. Its our first visit but wont be our last.
Just through the beautiful village of Osmotherly, its easy to find,a mile from A19, unlike some sites.
Lovely large pitches, spotless toilets and showers, with underfloor heating, and play area for the children. Ours didn't bother playing in the stream but other children did. Plenty of walks and local wildlife.
Shop isnt that big, but didn't need it this visit.
Not the cheapest site we've tried but worth it, lovely.

I must say I was somewhat disappointed after reading the reviews in this site. I fail to understand how the site is classed as a 5 star when the facilities are not that great.
The pitches are somewhat cramped, the site was very noisy - lots of children running around and screaming until gone 10.00 pm, very loud music and chatting from our neighbours until just before midnight!
I would say it is probably a great site if you have young children - great play area's and stream for them to play in, there are also wonderful walks from the site and Osmotherley is a wonderful little village (do try The Three Tuns - gorgeous food).
As a couple looking for a spot where we could enjoy the peace and quiet of the Yorkshire Moors then I would say this site is not for you.
We wouldn't return to Cote Ghyll but we would certainly return to the area - it is beautiful.

Site is set in some beautiful countryside. Be aware that the last 1/2 mile can a squeeze if you have a bigger unit. On the weekend we visited we met a unit coming down from the site and it was 'interesting' having to reverse back down the hill with bollards on one side and cars on the other. Facilities are very child friendly, with well maintained play equipment. As with a previous comment space was the only issue we found, we were shoe horned in between a trailer tent and a tent, with less than 8ft either side. In fact were so close I could hear an occupant in the tent snoring from inside our van!

Lovely long Easter weekend at this beautiful site.
Went with family and when booking asked if our tents could be pitched next to each other - which we were. Our tents are quite large and we had plenty of room for them and our cars and trailers.
There are 2 shower/toilet blocks which were always clean and warm and although the site was busy I never had to queue for these. It was great to have free hot water and hair dryer! There was always plenty of toilet roll - I never found a toilet without it.
2 playgrounds next to the stream for the kids to play on. My 2 nieces were always down there playing and making friends.
The only thing I had a problem with was how far away from the toilets we were. It was no problem if you are fit but as I'm not it was for me. I soon sorted this out by quickly going home and getting my toilet and toilet tent :) Asked if we had to pay extra for this and we were told no we didn't. Don't let this put you off this great site!
This site is not far from Monk Farm which we visited. You can bottle feed the lambs here which was fantastic! When paying to get in buy some animal feed to feed the goats, donkeys, sheep and cows. There is a big playground here for the kids too. We had a great day here.
I will be returning to this camp site very soon.

What a gem of a site. Hidden away in a valley between two hills (so don't expect a reliable mobile phone signal) is this small idyllic site. I believe it also shares it's grounds with the YHA and as you drive down the winding lanes to get to it, you see a lot of backpackers walking along the road.
It's a small site, with small site facilities (no pub on site etc) and a small shop selling only the very basics, however within 0.5 miles there are a couple of pubs, a chip shop and a village store. It's a bit like going back in time!
15 minutes drive and you're into Stockton (where there is a very nice go outdoors store which cost us a fortune!) and a further 45 minutes to South Shields.
The site has two shower blocks, both spotless and with underfloor heating (a very nice touch), play area for the small children and easy access to all areas for water, EHU etc. The water for washing up etc, is VERY hot and caution is recommended. The sinks had plugs though!.We keep finding that there are sinks but no plugs.
The small children's play park is right next to a babbling brook which our kids spent hours playing next to and getting soaked going across the stepping stones. Maybe too close to water for very small children to be left to play in though.
Not the cheapest site we have stayed at, two adults and two children (8 and 14) and was £27 per night for a 3 night stay (Fri-Sat-Sun).But maybe I've only stayed at cheap sites before.
Our only gripe, and it's perhaps a bit petty, is that the pitches are very close together and car parking is very much at a premium. We were in pitch F2 and luckily for us there was nobody in pitch F3 as that's where we parked. It looked like the etiquette was to park your car in front of your tent, but had that been the case, the people in F1 wouldn't have been able to get out as they were fenced in on three sides.
Still, have bookmarked the site since we will be going back next April and maybe dragging some of our friends along too.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at this beautiful site. Check-in was very quick with friendly polite wardens
We were allocated a pitch on arrival but were able to change it to one of our own choice. Large hardstanding pitches on various levels. No children with us but would have been ideal as there is a small park and river running through the site. 2 toilet blocks, lovely and clean, free showers and hairdryer and lovely floral displays in each block.
Short walk into the lovely village of osmotherly and same distance to Cod beck Reservoir. Had lovely weather whilst there and didn't want to come home, will definitely be back in a few weeks.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary in august with our two children and a dog.
The site was a lovely spot, the shower block was lovely and clean and we also used the wifi that the site supplies at cost.
The only problem we had was that during our stay the electricity tripped a few times, something that I picked up when I read reviews on here before we went away.
Barrier system in place for the security of the site, which appealed to me as we haven't seen this in use anywhere else that we have stayed.
