Visited this site for one night in Aug 2009.
Cannot fault the site in any way. Friendly staff , good sized pre allocated pitches , showers and loos spotless and very modern.
Spacious for kids to run around with a play park and stream running through the site. Also a small shop , laundry family bathrooms and tourist information area on site
Ten minute walk into the lovely village of Osmotherley with three pubs ,village shop , tea rooms , walking shop and a chip shop which is closed sun , mon and tues. Fabulous time

Stayed here for 1 night on 26th June 2009. It was my 2 1/2 yo sons first camping trip and didn't want to stay too long in case he didn't like it. The site itself is well maintained with 2 very clean toilet blocks. Staff very friendly and helpful. Playground is ideally is suited to older children but my little lad found things to play on. Will definitely go again and I'm already looking at my rota to see when my next long weekend is.! Golden Lion and Queen Catherine seem to be the pubs of choice out of the 3 on offer. Fish and chip shop is available and recommended if the wallet won't stretch far enough for a full blown pub meal. Northallerton and Thirsk are not too far away with Middlesbrough and Teesside retail park about 15 minutes drive north up the A19 so you're never too far away.

Just returned from a fabulous weekend break. The weather was very warm and sunny and the older kids on the site played in the stream / small river all day which runs through the middle of the site - great fun. Our 3 children are young so we went 2 miles up the road past cod beck res where there are a couple for car parks and at the side there is a great shallow stream for young kids to paddle and fish with nets. This was a brilliant find and a lovely picnic spot.
I would have been concerned had we been camping with the stream at the back of our tent due to our children only being young but there are plenty of pitches away from the stream so don't let it put you off if you do have little kids.
The site is well geared up for families. There is an excellent family bathroom the bath costs £1 to use but well worth it as I find it a nightmare showering young children on your own in the shower blocks.
The play area is really good and has a large sandpit - so remember the buckets.
We decided on an easy weekend and therefore we can recommend the fish and chip shop and the Queen Catherine pub for food in Osmotherley.
The site was busy and appeared full and the vast majority were families so it was a little noisy at times with kids but with 3 of our own it didn't bother us.
We found it to be a very sociable site and ideal for families with children of any age.

We only stayed one night in this campsite, and it was a Sunday night so we found it to be very quiet and peaceful. Most people had left earlier that day.
We found the facilities to be very clean and well kept. This was my first time camping and I was really impressed with the toilet block and shower facilities, they were bright, spotless and even had fresh flowers in!
The on-site shop had all the essential items that you might need. Milk, bacon etc. The shop is with the reception, where there was someone waiting to meet us when we arrived. As the site was quiet we were given a map of the site and told we could pitch our tent where ever we wanted!
We visited Osmotherley in the evening (10 mins walk)and we wanted to eat at the The Three Tuns, however they had stopped serving food at 6 as it was Sunday. We ended up eating at the Queen Catherine Hotel, the food was good and reasonably priced and they had a live band on.
All in all, this first venture into camping left me keen to go again, in fact I wished we were staying longer! However as Cote Ghyll is only an hour or so from us In Leeds, I'm sure we will visit again for relaxing weekends away!

We spent the last saturday in June at this site, on our first ever camping trip as a family and what glorious weather we had! The location is faultless. On site, you really feel you're in the middle of nowhere whereas, in reality, there's a really pretty village just a short walk away, with a choice of pubs, a tea shop, village store and a chippy, lovely walks on your doorstep and picnic areas and just minutes from the A19.
The site itself is well equipped, fantastic toilets and showers, free, hot and immaculate, plenty of drinking water all around site, a small shop for bits and bobs and all the waste and washing up facilities you'd need. The play area was small but very well used, although there are no facilities for very young children.
Our pitch, however, was a real disappointment. We paid £21.50 for one night, for 2 adults, a toddler and no electric. I think we paid extra because we have a family tent? Despite the extra paid, our pitch was pretty poor, we were sited under trees and couldn't get the pegs in because of roots and rocks - inexperience maybe. The site was bumpy with a few holes here and there, but I wasn't expecting a bowling green. The real issue was the slope. All 3 of us were rolled into about a quarter of a double airbed, no matter how manner times we rearranged ourselves. I couldn't have stayed there a second night.
The other irritation was that our location was just down the hill from the entrance, underneath the car barrier. It was a little noisy with the barrier up and down up until 11.30 pm, but the real annoyance was that the slope was used as a short cut by other visitors, literally passing by a foot from our tent, at all hours. This could be prevented by simply fencing off access to the slope from the entrance, but instead the site seem to endorse it by creating a rocky path to prevent slipping!
All in all, a smashing site but a lousy and expensive pitch but we probably would return to a different pitch.

Read previous reviews and couldn't wait to check the site out in the flesh, so to speak. Absolutely great! we chose the back end of the Whit week and the site was very busy, but didn't feel overcrowded. The only down side was the push button taps/ showers which don't run for long so you have to keep your hand on for a decent amount of hot water. Both sets of showers/ toilets spotless. Pot wash chem disposal located in same area. A small shop with essentials and sweeties for the kids. Owners very helpful and welcoming. The site is surrounded by trees and a small brook disects it. It is set out in small enclaves which makes for a homely feel. A small play area is located quite centrally but our two lads decided the brook was just the ticket. 10 minute walks to Cod Beck reservoir and Osmotherly village. The weather was great which undoubtedly helped but a great site. We will be back in the not too distant future.

This is the second time that we have visited this park and again we were not disappointed.
We phoned and booked with only a few days before we wished to come and they were able to accommodate us. I asked specifically to be put near the play area but away from the little stream which they were happy to do for us.
This is a very beautiful area of North Yorkshire and we had chance this time to explore the local area and in particular Cod Beck Reservoir which is a great walk especially if you have a dog.
The site caters for all people and has pitches both private and quiet and also for the masses where you can run around and make a bit of noise if you wish.
The warden is very helpful and it is easy to get some assistance if needed. If I had to pick a fault it was in the shop which is very poorly stocked. Also we wanted to purchase something which was 9.50 and they would not let us pay for it with our Switch card unless we spent £10 which seemed a bit trivial and I don't appreciate being forced to spend an extra 50p just for the privilege of using the switch machine so I didn't bother buying the Windbreaker I wanted.
The pitches are spacious and marked out. I would advise if in a caravan taking some blocks etc as they are not the most level pitches you will come across.
The electric went off if using the tv, heater and then put the kettle on but as long as you were careful it was ok.
Toilets are good and there is a new toilet block which had a family suite / disabled part which whilst we didn't use it as we only discovered it when just about to leave, we will pick it next time.
We will definitely return to this site as it is a safe environment for our young son and a grat area to explore.
The pub in the village of Osmotherley called the Queen Catherine (I think) is really nice and not that expensive for a meal.

Just returned from a 3 night Bank Holiday break at Cote Ghyll with 2 adults and 3 boys aged 15, 7 and 3 and our dog.
This was our first visit and we found it to be a very pleasant, clean site with good facilities. Plenty of hot water at the washing up sinks and the shower block was kept very clean (site was full when we were there)
We especially liked the bathroom which had lots of hot water (£1 charge but well worth it) and plenty of space.
Child friendly site - the boys soon made friends at the small playground/sand pit and the stream which runs through the site.
Pitch was large with EHU although it was a bit bumpy and sloped slightly but there was plenty of parking (we had 2 cars)
The shop stocks the basics you would need and it's a lovely walk into Osmotherley and to Cod Beck Reservoir.
There is a security barrier into site and the wash blocks have security key pads.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

I Loved this site!
When we booked we requested a pitch by the play park after reading previous reviews and it was an excellent one (no. 62). Yes we were right in front of the toilet block but it was great and no noise to disturb at all.
The play park was in easy watch distance and meant we could sit and relax a bit as well.
There is a family bathroom (£1 charge for hot water) but well worth it. Though I will say we only bathed the Gremlins once in the week.
There are so many things to do in the local area that we weren't bored at all and could have spent weeks at the site.
The site shop doesn't stock much but all that's required. There is a shop in the village but we never stopped there and various supermarkets in North Allerton.
If you want a good meal, try the Catherine Pub in Ostmotherly. No it's not cheap but the food was so nice it was worth the money, just check when they are serving. And yes it is an easy walk to there from camp, we did it with a 2 & 3 yr old in dusk
Enjoy this site, we did, and we will be back!
