A Message from Cote Ghyll Caravan Park; We were dismayed to read some reviews which said that our showers were not performing as expected. We wish to comment that the fault was temporary and has been rectified. We apologise to those people who were affected by this.

Just got back after a great weekend at Cote Ghyll. Very good site, friendly owners made us feel very welcome, and pitch we had was excellent. If you want peace and quiet ask for a pitch near the office, all the families are further down the site, having said that there was no late night noise at all. The toilets and other facilities were kept very clean, and there is a brand new family bathroom on site. Small, but perfectly adequate shop in office block caters for emergencies and although departure time is noon, £3 gets you an extended stay til 6pm. Osmotherley village is a pleasant 20 minute stroll away, although quite a steep climb on the way back, especially with a few pints inside ! There are 3 pubs in the village, all offer something a little different. We shall definitely return to this site .

Spotlessly clean shower blocks however the power showers are not powerful at all, not very hot and they are the type that you have to keep pressing. Although dogs are allowed there is nowhere close to the site for them to have a good run and throw a ball. Kids liked the play area but again there was nowhere for them to play ball games.
Pitches were not very good as they were on a slope so I would suggest asking for a pitch at the top which was more level. Visitors are also charged £3 for the privilege of staying for a couple of hours!
However, the site itself is very nice located in a deep valley (no mobile signal) and the owners were helpful and friendly.

A super site! Although we visited on a Bank Holiday weekend when the site was fairly full, the site was immaculately clean and very peaceful. The toilet/shower blocks are newly modernised (one is newly built) and spotless. The showers could have been more powerful, but were hot, free and available - no queuing! Our only niggle was that there is no large open space for children's football, rounders etc - although there is a play area and some space for games. It didn't really bother our 10-year-old but it did mean that children were playing quite close to some of the pitches. Osmotherly is a few minutes' walk, with pubs and a shop - food and beer at the Queen Catherine was reasonably priced and good quality; the other two pubs are a bit smarter and priced accordingly. Oh, and there's an excellent chippy with attendant poultry on the green to pinch your chips! Recommended.

Had a great time at this site. Play area was good and the stream was great for kids to go paddling. Children also had real fun at the reservoir which was full of toads! Toilet block was immaculate and the owner was very welcoming and left us to enjoy our stay. Great site and will be returning this summer for a few more days

Owners very pleasant and always willing to help. We arrived late but it was no problem, we checked in the following morning. Shower and toilet blocks reasonably clean but unfortunately the under floor heating in the gents wasn't working. It rained the whole weekend we spent in Cote Ghyll and unfortunately the ground did not hold up well, it was extremely wet and as we were on the camping side which for some reason is on a slope, we were not on a hard standing it was extremely muddy. The hard standing area however looked fine as it is on higher ground. Even in the dry weather the river gets very muddy.
If you have kids this site is great as there are lots of places to explore but as 'kids will be kids' bring the wellies and prepare for mud. This site does accept the smaller 'Hobby's' but if I remember correctly they don't accept the twin axles. This site is friendly and very reasonably priced.

Stayed here with another family and first impressions were great. We got a spot near the river so it was fab. Kids loved the river and got soaked but thats kids. Unfortunatley come the evening the residents in the caravans didn't appreciate the adults talking and laughing late at night.

Excellent site, spotlessly clean and owners very accommodating. Ideal for anyone with young children as the play area is visible from most of the pitches, although if they find the stream behind it expect muddy kids! Also quieter pitches away from play area. Great base for exploring North York Moors. Will definitely return.

Cote Ghyll is a very well kept site with fabulous amenities with heated floors in the showers, which makes it all that bit more special.and very high standards throughout being acheived. I highly recommend this site as a one to visit. it has plenty of walks and three public houses and a fish and chip shop within walking distance of the site in the nearby village of osmotherly, of which is a very well kept village the site has a new play park for the younger generation, and a beck of which the children loved to play in. the owners jonathan and helen are very pleasant with a nice warm welcome on your arrival.

What a beautiful site. Well worth the money. Lovely area for children. Clean and tidy facilities, toilets and showers excellent. We stayed in a tourer but not sure what the tent pitch is like heard its a little hilly. Will definately return. A real place to get up and go or sit back and relax.
