Arrived on a very wet Friday evening. Pitched in the rain and hoped for an improvement.
Saturday morning - what a change, the sun was up and the site drained extremely well.
The pitch was slightly uneven but this did not cause any problems with the tent.
Toilets and showers plentiful and clean with a code for access.
A small play area for the children appeared well used although we did not use it.
Good base for exploring this area of North Yorkshire.
All in all a very pleasant site with friendly campers and all obeyed the time limit for noise on the site.
Will definitely be back.

We had a lovely weekend at this site we requested a quiet pitch which we got. The toilet block was spotless with separate bathroom which was nice as i prefer a bath.osmotherlly is nice with 3 lovely pubs within walking distance.our friends came as well with their tent and they were unhappy that their pitch was not near ours which was no problem as they were moved closer straight away.you need a very long hook up lead ours wasn't so we borrowed one from the site for free just left a deposit.the only complaint is that we had a group next to us on the saturday night and they were loud insisting on playing their car stereo and slamming car doors till i had a word there are notices up regarding no noise after 9oclock but you need to enforce it. All in all this is a lovely site and will visit again.

Just returned from a weekend at cote ghyll and felt that this camping site was worth writing a review about. Very friendly and helpful owners who were more than happy to help us pitch up, in fact they came over and offered to help, which we were very grateful for as we have just started caravanning. Excellent facilities, toilet and shower block very clean and pleasant , also a bathroom at a cost of £1 for plenty of hot water. Very friendly site on the edge of a lovely village. Already booked to go back.

Just returned from this site, it's a nice site in a nice location with some good walks and pubs around it. The toilets are very clean and it has a small childrens play area. The bad points are we couldn't get any hot water in the showers after 8pm and it's quite uneven so you need your levels, also the roads approaching it are quite narrow. But all in all its a nice site.

Even though we arrived quite late (but not so late as to disturb anyone else), this wasn't a problem, we were shown where to pitch and told to book in properly in the morning. The owners were very friendly and helpful. It rained the whole weekend we were there and the ground did get a bit muddy, but elsewhere on the site, the ground looked fine. I think, to be fair, we probably had a poor spot at the bottom of a bank near the toilets. The toilets were fine and kept clean. Loads of places for the kids to explore etc. A lovely peaceful site. Would definitely return to this again.

Just returned from the Bank Holiday weekend from this site and although it has many good reviews I must admit I have mixed feelings! We were sited on the middle field which is very bumpy and uneven as is most of the site. After pitching our caravan and getting nicely settled, someone in a tent attempted to pitch up right in front of our window but someone then told them that was not a pitch which saved us from having to complain. The shower and toilet facilities were very modern and clean but were not very hot or powerful which I believe has been mentioned in previous reviews. The site has no streetlighting so at night the site is plunged into absolute darkness apart from the lighting around the toilet blocks. Also there is no area for ball games which resulted in most of the families around us getting together and playing cricket around the caravans and cars and there was nowhere safe for us to put our car. We didn't want to say anything as we didn't want to cause animosity but the boys and men were hitting the ball really hard and were hitting peoples tents and cars! Although this is clearly down to people having little or no respect for other peoples belongings I think the owners should maybe occasionally check to see that the rules are being adhered to. The site had a security barrier which was code operated, as were the toilet and shower blocks. There was an excellent tourist information point on the new shower block with plenty of information and leaflets about things to do in the area. If you have small children Monk Park farm is an excellent choice at £4 each for both adults and children and you can feed the animals and give the lambs milk and hold chicks! At weekends the children can have a ride on a shetland pony for £1 each and there is a large picnic and play area. The beautiful village of Osmotherley is about 10 minutes walk away where there is a chippy, a pub and a couple of shops. The toilets have been voted loo of the year several times and are spotlessly clean! The only downside is when you are travelling with your caravan the road through the village is very narrow as one side tends to have parked cars all the way up one side. You can also walk through the woodland to Cod Beck reservoir - nice for a picnic and beautiful on a summers day. Also worth a visit is the White Horse of Kilburn - it is hard work climbing the 151 steps but well worth it when you reach the top! It is like being on the top of the world and if you follow the path around to your left at the top of the steps there is a gliding club which if you are lucky you might see the gliders taking off over the cliff edge - quite spectacular! I loved Osmotherely and the surrounding are but am unsure whether I would go to the site again - if we did we would perhaps ask for a pitch on the top field near the office further away from the facilities and play area so that we would not have the issue with people using the area as a playing field.

Nice site but we were put on a pitch by the static caravans, which wasn't a problem but the electric points were at the back of the field and although we had two electric leads they were still not long enough. Fair enough you could hire one from the office for a £20-00 deposit but when we went on the Sunday to return it we were met with a very frosty reception. Also I don't like going on sites that have a price for the site then they charge you extra for your awning when most caravans have awnings anyway. Why cant they just have a set price instead. Also because there were four adults in the caravan we had to pay extra for two. The area itself is lovely, with lots of walks nearby. Don't know if I would go back.

We were disappointed with our stay at Cote Gyll. We were advised by a Friend who had been there before to ask for the quiet part. It wasn't until we got pitched up that we realised the owner hadn't put us there at all. It was lovely and peaceful until Friday and then all hell broke lose. We were surrounded by children, whom I might add we don't mind, but when they are still screaming and shouting after 11pm then that's when it becomes really annoying. The parent's just seemed quiet happy to let them run wild. It seems to me the owner's were not bothered about toning down the noise even though it said quiet time between 9pm and 8am. They never came around once to ask them to tone down. Also, we were woke up a few times about 4.30 with youngsters going back to the youth hostel. On a lighter note the walks were beautiful, and the village lovely. The hotel served some nice food and the fish and chip shop served some beautiful fish. Would think twice about going back because of the noise.

Liked this site. First ever site we went to so consequently got a bit stressed setting up on the wrong pitch. Could of done with more help than we got from the owners. That said loved it. Nice and quiet and no problems at all. Showers were good for us. My daughter loved the playground. Although why do people let their children play on the site without watching them and keeping them safe! Little village nearby great for pop beer and crisps. Be careful on your drive to the site bit narrow because of the cars. But the local walks are brill brill. We would go again and if anyone wants to go to this site please go, we are fussy and we know we are.

This was our first camping trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a lovely site although some of the pitches are a little stony and not level. The washrooms are spotless and modern. A friends son lost a tooth by falling over the slide in the play area but boys will be boys! I would definitely return.
